I am staying here at O.B. for the second year in a row. As part of the beautiful Riviera Maya Hotel compound it has all the amenities one could ask from 5 star resort. The pools, the spas, shopping and entertainment are all first rate there. However, the best thing about O.B. is it is removed from the main center of the resort with it's own quiet pool, bar and restaurant where everyone seems to know your name after a few days. When I am here I feel like I am at my own vacation home and the employees and atmosphere is like friends and family

We just finished a week vacation at the Grand Sirenis. We booked through BookVIP and I have to say that I'm extremely pleased with the entire trip, all the way from booking through the conclusion of the trip. We got a phenomenal deal and had an excellent trip!

What Our Customers Are Saying

Written Review

"Small Quiet Resort on a very large resort property"
The Ocean Breeze is a small resort on a very large resort property. It has a lobby, pool, restaurant and snack bar and that is about it. The rooms are new and very nice. It is separated by enough jungle to appear completely isolated. It is laid-back and quiet, but you can go over to a very large active resort area with lots of people and amenities. It has an all-inclusive option which only includes two poolside restaurants. Now I see a week at the Ocean Breeze, all-inclusive on TA at a very good price.
"Beautiful ambiance - modern comfy room"
We got a great last minute deal here, and stayed for one night. The hotel ambiance is very nice, although they make you wear little bracelet (not sure why - nothing was really included with it). Part of a large gated community on a golf course, oceanside. Very well maintained grounds - the place is very spread out with several other resorts in the complex. Rooms were spacious and modern and very comfy. The pool was great and super warm. To get to the eating area ($100/meal - so a little pricey and could add up for an extended stay) you had to take a little golf cart shuttle. There were little kiosk shops set up, bands playing, board games set out, baby crocodile hatchery to see.... it was nice. Did not notice any special kids activities, but saw gym, photography and spa services, and they looked modern and wonderful. Very safe and fine for a short stay over.
"Once again a perfect hideaway"

"First time at Ocean Breeze"
This was our first time visiting Ocean Breeze in riviera maya. I travelled with my wife and stayed here for 7 days. We read the read the reviews previously and thought we would give it try. We were very pleasantly satisfied with this resort! Food: Breakfast was a buffet style. You order from a menu for lunch and dinner. Food was great! Pools: There is a small pool on the resort. But the mother resort is a city of pools in which you can use. Beach: In front of resort the beach contains lots or coral. A short 15 minute walk west of the resort there is a very white/powdery sand beach. Many people were feeding fish with bread which attracted tropical fish, easy to see through the torquoise water. Room: Room was clean, good house keeping, no fridge, no coffee maker (but in lobby there is coffee and snacks 24/7), always had hot water, soap and shampoo was provided. Staff: Very friendly and helpful with directions. They also taught us a bit of spanish!
"Very friendly, clean, quiet place"
Clean newer smaller hotel. Great food. Kind friendly service I totally enjoyed our holiday here. Great staff. Lots of amenities available nearby. Free tram rides to take you to the beach and a bus at a nominal fee to take you to Playa Del Carmen. Great shopping in Playa Del Carmen on 5th avenue.
"Last minute week near Cancun"
AirTransat holidays had a deal on Ocean Breeze which included non-stop flight from Victoria, airport transfers and all inclusive. The Del Lago restaurant and a small beach hut, La Sandia, are however designated A-I for Ocean Breeze at specific times which are provided at check-in. Pool access in the larger resort is included. Ocean Breeze rooms were excellent. Front desk helpful. Free WiFi in lobby. Nice wide screen TVs and fridges in deluxe rooms. Restaurant very good - mainly Italian themes. Pool area small but lovely. Hotel is walking distance to maingate where one can access public transport -"Collectivos" -these are about 15 seat vans which travel between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Take care crossing the highway! Very inexpensive. Check fares at Reception and take exact fare since drivers are not inclined to give tourists change. We did day trips to Cancun (transfer to Route 1, hotel zone, bus going south from the collectivo terminus, 8 pesos), Puerto Morelos (20 peso cab fare from collectivo drop point to the PM beach), and Chichen Itza which was totally memorable. Ocean Breeze is not at the heart of the action but it allows easy access to all places of interest. Price point is however ideal :)
"Lovely break with great memories"
We stayed here for one week from 26 feb to 5 march 2013. Quiet resort with access to larger resort. Everyone soooo friendly, made lots of friends as the resort is small. We loved coming back after visiting larger resort for the intimacy of our own little oasis. Wonderful food but only the one restaurant area, although we could use another restaurant and snack bar at the adjoining resort. Large clean rooms with very comfortable beds. An added bonus was we were not far from the airport, so no long journey on the bus. A wonderful restful time with activities only if you want them! Would certainly go back it was just what we were looking for.
"Good Boutique Hotel for the unpretentious"
We stayed at Ocean Breeze in February, 2013. Ocean Breeze has comfortable and clean rooms, a good restaurant overlooking the pool, and they mix good drinks. It was about a 25 minute walk to the beach, but you can go in a golf cart if you don't want to walk. I liked the staff very much. Another thing I really liked was that there wasn't a snob factor here at all. Everyone was very nice. Three drawbacks: no Jacuzzi (spoiled, huh?), no wifi except in the lobby or pool area, and there wasn't a refrigerator or microwave in the room. If you paid for the all-inclusive, then no problem with that, but if you didn't, it would have been nice to have these amenities. The hotel did bring us a refrigerator to the room, so that worked really well, as we arrived with tons of groceries.
"LOVED IT"
I was stunned by how happy we were here! We stayed here on a priceline bid during high season and when I read the reviews and saw the photo's I thought we were in trouble. For $90/night during the peak of high season we stayed in this LOVELY hotel with large oversized rooms, oversized bathrooms, fantastic food, etc. Every 5 minutes a little trolley comes and takes you to other area's of the resort and you have access to the 3+ large pools, swim up bars, beds on the beach etc. The Beach IS rocky, but if you're looking to *really* relax resort style with access to everything you'd want (shopping center, several restaurants on grounds, tour guides) for a ridiculously affordable price this is the way to go. We stayed here our last 3 nights of a two week honeymoon, we had low expectations and were totally surprised at the absolute lovliness of this place. I would give it 5 stars if the beach was nicer and their wifi connection was more stable.
"Best staff I ever met"
My wife and I staid here in December 2012 and we enjoyed every minute. The staff are fantastic. They were friendly and helpful all the time ,from the front desk to the restaurant staff, the servers and the pool staff all made our stay so enjoyable that we will return for sure. The food and drinks were excellent, the building was well kept , clean and neat. We loved the beach, it is close to the hotel and was kept very clean, the waves were perfect for a sun starved Canadian to relax in while my wife enjoyed the activities around the pools. Wow I just can't say enough about how well run this hotel is, and we have stayed in many around the world.
"Ocean Breeze - without the ocean."
Ocean Breeze - not your usual resort experience. I am going to review this for what it was. It is not a hotel on the beach, so if you are ok with just the pool, you would do well here. The hotel itself resembles a boutique type that you would find in New York. It is small and quiet, but along with that comes peace and quiet. There is no gift shop and no indoor buffet restaurant to have your morning breakfast. However, there is a fantastic restaurant outside by the pool, so you have your breakfast outside as the sun comes up. Very pleasant. The food on the menu is all very well presented and very, very tasty (esp. the steak). The staff here could not do enough for us, refilling our drinks when they were near to empty, always asking if there was something else they could do or get for us. The room was very basic, but fresh white towels every day, adequate water pressure and turn down service is really, all you need. There is a balcony off your room, but no view to speak of and you cannot fit a chair out there, it's purely for standing or drying your towels. The pool area is very pretty - round shaped with blue lights at night. Oh yeah, you can swim at night here which is a real blessing and rarity. Normally the pools down South are closed by 6 p.m., and because it's right beside the restaurant/bar, you have full service at night while you're swimming. We often had the whole pool for ourselves. Ocean Breeze does offer a beach area which you have to take a shuttle to, (must have water shoes for the rocky floor), however getting service on the beach (in the blue area) is hard to get. Also, you do not have access to many of the restaurants by the beach. Il Lago, open for buffet dinner every night except Thursday, is well worth it as they have a night show from 8 - 8:40 p.m. and the restaurant Il Lago is right on the water with Loon type birds perching in the adjoining trees. Great view with a great sunset. This would be a great place to have a wedding - because all your guests would completly take up the whole resort. You would have the whole pool area with just your wedding guests. All in all, if you just want to relax and are ok with just the pool, this place is very, very nice. Food at restaurant excellent. They have these great yellow and orange birds that are always cherping something that sounds like they're saying ''eat your food, eat your food''.
"Just perfect to relax"
We stayed there for the last day of our honey moon, and it was just what we needed. It is very small, but almost all the people prefer to hang out at the big pools, so it is very quiet, and more romantic. Food was really good, front desk agents were very nice and helpful. The only thing that wasn't so good were the waiters at the restaurant, they really didn't care to attend their tables, and they kept bouncing back their duty in front of us and speaking quite loud. But for the rest we loved it. The all inclusive plan is quite good, the rooms are pretty, comfy and very clean. If you want to go to the other resort, to the other pool's, and restaurantS they provide transportation from this location and back at any time.
"A fantastic little resort"
Just returned from a wonderful week at the Ocean Breeze and have very few complaints. From the moment we checked in we found the staff to be very helpful. The hotel manager, Alberto was very nice and easy to talk to. The rooms are a little small, but are clean, comfortable, and very "spa like". My only complaint was that the balconies are very small, just big enough to squeeze two chairs out there (sideways). The Pool area was very secluded and quite. Plenty of lounge chairs, and there always seemed to be someone cleaning something. Next to the pool is the wonderful restaurant, "Terraza". The food was fantastic! We tried pretty much everything on the menu and were never disappointed. Presentation was wonderful, service was amazing (Eric, Jesus, & Miguel), and it never seemed busy. Beer, wine, and mixed drinks are available from the poolside bar, however beer is only available in plastic cups. At the we we only had privileges at the beach club bar. No service poolside or in the pool bar. A bit disappointing that those places will give you buckets of chilled cans, and the premium brands at that. But it is what it is, and I didn't mind the short walk to the Beach Club where Miguel would always provide us with fresh drinks, delicious burgers, and amazing pizza. The beach itself is a disappointment as you can't swim there. No problem though, as a 20 minute walk to the north will get you to a beautiful swimming spot. We made this part of our daily routine! The shuttle service between the various parts of the resort was not a big issue during the day. There always seemed to be a shuttle waiting, or close by, and the trips are short and quick. At night they become less frequent however, and my wife ended up sitting on my lap once or twice. Also, if it happens to rain, the shuttles get very uncomfortable. Twice during the week we dined at Lago, which was included in our all inclusive package (except on Thursday). Each time we needed to have a discussion with the restaurant manager in order to get all inclusive service for some reason. According to the Ocean Breeze manager, the all inclusive packages are not always the same. Some operators may include more, some less, which sometimes causes confusion at various places. Nonetheless, we got it worked out and the buffet dinners and shows were decent and entertaining. Food was much better at the Ocean Breeze though. Lastly, I wanted to mention that the gift shop behind the pool is well worth a visit. Very decent prices, although somewhat confusing as some prices are in pesos and some are in dollars. I bought some nice shirts and my wife bought some dresses and jewellery. Again, very reasonably priced.
"Loved it!"
We just returned from our stay at the Ocean Breeze. We were there from March 27th- April 3rd, 2012. We had a remarkable time there. The staff are incredible!! From the time we checked in to the time we checked out, they were all very nice, helpful, considerate and very friendly. We were amazed on our first day at how great the food was. Was very impressed how they made a snack of nachos seem like a gourmet meal. Bravo to all the chefs and kitchen staff at Ocean Breeze. All the wait staff were fantastic. Especially Carlos. He took real good care of us!! The rooms were spotless, the beds were so comfortable and the shower was HUGE!! Was so nice to stay at a hotel that wasn't overcrowded. Complete opposite when we went over to the Mayan Palace side. Very busy there and was hard to find covered lounge chairs. We didn't eat at the Beach Club but they sure know how to make a mean margarita!! Kudos to all the staff at De Lagos. Luis is the manager there and introduced himself to us our first night there. We went back 3 days later and he remembered us. You have to sign your bill there but your not charged anything. The buffet was amazing there!! They have entertainment at De Lagos every night except Wednesdays and you have to pay $$ for the Thursday night show. Overall we definitely enjoyed our stay at the Ocean Breeze and would recommend it to everyone.
"Amazing Ocean Breeze!"
I cannont say i've travel a lot in the south, but i went to Italia, Brazil and Taiwan. It's a small hotel (80 rooms), it has a small pool and 1 restaurant a la carte with a cute bar. Although everthing was simple, it was verry quiet (you don't hear from other rooms) and the staff was able to take care of everybody's requests. Me and my boyfriend rapidly made friends there (i mean the staff) since everybody was so kind. Most of them knows english, and if not, they understand you. To go to the beach (wich is not very nice though because of the corals) you have to take a shuttle but there's one every 5 minutes. And we rather go to Playa del Carmen for 5$ where the beach is stunning. For my opinion, it was the best place to go because its verry quiet there, the rooms are really beautiful and always clean (the shower was more beautiful than the ones i have in my own house :P). My trip was absolutely wonderfull and even if you read the bad comments, i'm telling you, this hotel is clean (they wash EVERYTHING, even outside, every freaking day!) And the reason why there's bad comments is that because the hotel was closed (because of the renovations) for a while so the people who reserved there were send to another hotel. We tiped the barmans 5$ per day and they started to make us shooters like i've never seen in my life! And nobody's around us had ones :P (mostly because I didnt see nobody give tips...) The food was really amazing, I recomand the pizzas, the fish, the ceaser salad, the guacamol is the best i've had! (and i'm a fan :P) Mango frozen marguaritta is THE BEST drink i had plus shooters. I've seen no cockroach, spiders or any kind of disturbing things... only birds and salandras. So i hope this is helpfull :) I really liked this trip, i can't wait to go back :)
"Great place to stay!"
I was a little nervous about this place at first from all the reviews I read but honestly best vacation We have had so far. Staff is amazing, food was great, rooms clean, beautiful grounds. Yes there is a shuttle to take to get to the big pool and other restuarants but they didnt take longer than 5 minutes to get there or to your destination. Plus your on vacation. . Why do you need to rush anywhere?!?!?!? Bar does not open until 11 but just go to Playa Del Carmen the first day to the walmart, that the other shuttle service drops you off at and grab a case of beer or a bottle of booze. Its cheap and u can drink them at the pool. Overall AMAZING PLACE, will be going back for sure.
"Shhh do not tell anyone."
Quiet, small pool, simply beautiful. Food was exceptional, wood fire pizza was one of the best I ever had. Rooms were spotless.staff very accomodating, most spoke English. Not the best view because we were not on the beach. Beach is 15 minutes away, but the trolly was always available. Value was great for an all inclusive. Went scuba diving for the first time in my life. What a rush. The people who taught me how to do scuba were pros and had so much patience.
"Great upgrade!"
We booked this hotel and were told the hotel is doing some renovations so they offer us a great up grade to their sister property next door. We were really happy with the up grade and asked the front desk people to show us the ocean breeze even if the hotel was closed. The hotel is great and super private and secluded. We are ready to book again for January with a group of friends.
"Great resort, met all of our expectations except for the no swim beach."
Comfortable and very clean room with balcony. Great food everywhere, don't miss out on Del Lago restaurant especially if you are all inclusive. Supersize Ocean Breeze pool to make up for no swim beach. Fantastic hotel and restaurant staff at our hotel. Shuttle bus service was very good with reasonable wait time. Will go back again
"Great Vacation"
We spent 7 nights at the resort and had a great time. More than that it was very relaxing. This hotel is located on a huge campus of sister resorts. We had a private pool mostly to ourselves, never more than two or three other couples. You could also shuttle (golf carts) to the bigger campus where the pools were massive and the beach was located. We did both. The meals were good and our small restaurant was where we ate most meals because you had a staff of 4 or 5 waiting on about 10 people at any time. They speak Spanish since they are Mexicans and try English he best they can. We are in their country. If you remember that you are in their country on Mexican time (no hurry, we weren't going anywhere) you will have a great time. Mango and Rum all day by the pool and beach did me just fine. If you don't act like an arrogant idiot and have the right attitude this is a 10 out of 10. We will definitely go back. The staff was great and will do anything for you.
