We just finished a week vacation at the Grand Sirenis. We booked through BookVIP and I have to say that I'm extremely pleased with the entire trip, all the way from booking through the conclusion of the trip. We got a phenomenal deal and had an excellent trip!

What Our Customers Are Saying

Written Review

"Nice property,great food,drink,and location"
This was our 4th stay here and our 1st since the renovation. I like the new renovation except for the lobby, i think the old one was beautiful, but it's obvious they were going for a more modern look. Get a jr suite, well worth the little extra for it.It is huge with a walk in shower big enough for 4. I also like the separate room for the tolite.Large balcony. Our room was cleaned very well every day.Food is very good, too much booze, lol. Great location for night life and shopping. Jacob at the front desk/lobby remembered us from past years and was very helpful again. If you need anything just ask him.
"Good location for party"
This has been my first visit to this Hotel in many years of visiting Cancun. This All-Inclusive Hotel offers a very good location if Cancun if you are looking for party. The personnel is kind and helpful. Bear in mind that the majority of the guests are young looking for party and meeting people from all over the world. The swimming pool could be cleaner but this hotel is in general what you are expecting from the Riu chain.
"2 weeks - 3 friends mid 20-30 not a 5 start, more 4. Great vacation!!"
Just got back from 2 weeks in cancun, we chose to stay at the Riu as we have previously stayed with them in Jamaica and in general opt for 5 star resorts. 1st the hotel is extremely clean and majority of people were happy with it but personally I like to stay in fantastic hotels and would not rate this a 5, my reasons being that the rooms are nice but you do not get those special touches that you expect from a 5 star such a iPod Dock, shampoo and conditioner. All rooms are filled each day with water Pepsi 7up and beers and you have 4 optics with rum tequila etc so great if you like your booze!!! Bar staff are great!!!! Good service! Food- great variety buffet has something for everyone and I enjoyed all 3 options. The wine is ok but in the Italian I thought there would be better wine but it was the same. There are 3 a la carte restaurants in which you much book 2 days in advance 1. Steak house 2. Italian 3. Japanese I went to all 3 and enjoyed them all but would say when you book double check the time on your ticket as a few people including us had a problem where we opted for a 9pm seating and the lady booked us in for the 6.30pm seating. Restaurant staff are fantastic so helpful!!!! Overall the hotel in is a great area we were 5 mins from the strip so great for us to go when ever we wanted. The reps were OK we had a better time out alone then with them again it may be due to us not being great drinkers. We booked 4 trips with a guy called Gonzalez who was located outside across the road to the right ( if you walk down And ask for him someone will tell you who he is) his shop in located near a restaurant and next to a beauty spa. He gave us great deals booking our excursions with him as Thomson is so expensive, we did: dolphins interaction for hour and wet n wild for $90 Chichen it's tour approx $55 Coco bongo VIP $115 Isla Mujueras trip for approx $50 I think All great fun and overall coco bongos is a must!!!! Best place ever so enjoyable at all ages! Senyor frogs glow party was fab too that's a must! All the main places charge a standard $35 to get in with no drinks of $60 for all drinks inclusive. Ladies in the open bar clubs we got let in free as they obviously love girls so don't rush to pay and get in FREE!!! Overall the holiday was fantastic I expected more from Riu hotel but defo not a 5 star hotel I would say a 4! Wouldn't discourage anyone from booking I think I personally I just expected more but it is a good place great holiday which you will enjoy! Great location Big variety of food and drinks Really enjoyable!!!
"5 Years On..."
We last stayed at the Riu Cancun in 2009 whilst we were renewing our Wedding Vows after 25 years. So, 5 years later we decided to come back to celebrate our 30th Anniversary and look at the new-style hotel which, as recently as June when we were staying at the Riu Palace Las Americas next door, resembled a building site! Approaching the hotel, on a gloomy afternoon, there are some cosmetic changes, with new lighting and a new roofline, but the change to the lobby area is staggering. Ultra modern chrome, silver and purple abound and the space has been opened up with the relocation of the shop and the removal of the old toilet area to the right of the old reception area. Check in was smooth and speedy and accompanied by the obligatory fruit punch. We were allocated a room on the 1st floor overlooking the quiet pool, but as I'd emailed in advance for a high room we asked to change. We were accommodated immediately, being re-allocated a room on the 11th floor on the RPLA side of the hotel. The rooms definitely benefit from the new colour scheme and are bright and airy with effective air conditioning. The bathrooms have been revamped and now feature a large walk-in shower to replace the old "over the tub" bath/shower combo. Very powerful, constant hot water etc etc. The whole site, at ground level, has been moved around, & for those familiar with the old layout, I'll try to explain - 1. The bar by the quiet pool is now known as The Corner Bar, we didn't use it during the day but in the evening it was a great place to relax, very quiet with a nice breeze. 2. The old lobby bar has been extended and now has coffee machines behind the bar as well as a self-serve machine around the corner. Starts to get busy around 6pm & appears popular with those that don't watch the entertainment. 3. The old Brazilian restaurant is now an Italian a la carte, we didn't use it. 4. The Sports Bar has been moved from it's old, upstairs location, to a prime site between the entertainment area (now an open air viewing area with a covered stage on the site of the old buffet restaurant. It is much improved in terms of decor and has pool & table football and is still kept stocked with self-serve food 24 hours. 5. The Buffet restaurant now occupies the old entertainment venue and has been extended to the end of the hotel and extends round the corner to form an L-shape which attaches it to the "lunch time" restaurant which overlooks the beach, next to the RPLA. 6. The pools have been re-modelled and now have sunbeds in the water and, of course, there's still a Pool Bar, which attracts the usual crowd of "drink all day, party boys and girls"! The staff at the hotel can't be faulted, whatever their role. Waiters, cleaners, bellboys, maids just can't do enough for you. The waiter service on the beach was a bit hit & miss, depending on who was on but it's a minor gripe. The food was varied, plentiful and replenished regularly. I just wish people weren't so wasteful with it! The drinks were as strong as usual and there were international brands available at all the bars. We never bothered with the evening entertainment, this is Cancun after all, but those that we spoke to seemed to have no complaints and the staff were certainly busy and proactive during the day. The beach, where we prefer to spend our days, seems to have been improved by the addition of some little jetties, yes there are a couple of rocky patches, but so what? Lots of fish swim around you, especially if you take a bit of food down with you and the pelicans make interesting viewing. I'm staggered that they managed to get the hotel open on time having seen it in June, but they did and any hiccups that were there in August seem to have been cured by October when we were there. All in all, the modernisation has added a new feel to the hotel and the staff have kept the traditional values that keep us looking for Riu hotels wherever we decide to holiday!
"Holiday at riu cancun"
This hotel is lovely,it is so clean and has been refurbished to a high standard. There is no shortage of anything.ie food drinks etc. However the noise is unbearable,it starts at 10am ish and continues untill 12mn.If you are over 50ish I'd recomend you don't go to this hotel,if you are looking for a relaxing holiday it's not the place for you. When you return home you will need a rest to get over this HOLIDAY! this hotel appears to be designed only for the young. The rooms are ok,bed are comfortable. We have been to Mexico 6 times before this holiday we will go back, buy never to this hotel,I wonder why animation team has to shout and scream all the time.My husband has severe hearing loss, and wears 2hearing aids even he found the noise dreadful. We have been in RIU hotels all over the world this one has no kettle in the unlike most,so take your own,for that early cuppa. In previous Mexican hols we have purchased 600 cigs ,now it is 400 for two people.Thomson are selling you 600 on the flight,we were fined 1500peseos,please be aware.I hope this helps you to have a good holiday.
"Great Location for Nightlife"
Overall let me say I really enjoyed my stay & will be returning next year for 7 days instead of 3.The lobby alone is very pretty and was very very clean, they were doing some fixings tho so ladders where in the lobby. They have about 3 maybe 4 pools and its a beachfront. There is a club in the resort and a sports bar that is open 2h4hrs.
"RIU Cancun A**"
Best hotel ive ever stayed in, first class accomodation, first class service, excellant choice of food and drink, Animation Team are SUPERB so much time and effort put in each day "Rock Station" show FANTASTIC okay okay OKAY WELL DONE EVERYONE. Neri and Antonia in the Cocktail bar were exceptional workers, so friendly and welcoming with everyone served RIU should be proud of the great staff they employ.
"Perfect - Cannot fault the hotel, staff or food"
This was our first visit to Cancun and what a location. Perfect, sat on a small strip of land on the corner of the 7 that is the Cancun hotel area. The rooms are a good size with a balcony (although floor 13 doesn't have a great view due to a ledge, but it is safer) nice bathroom with plenty of towels and a good shower. Beds were comfortable, TV was mostly Mexican but with the odd US channel. Air con and a fan meant the room was always cool and a fridge stocked full of drinks and water. Food was excellent, although you do find that after 2 weeks the selection doesn't tend to excite as much as it did on the first day. With the usual huge array of breakfast from pastries and fresh donuts to eggs and bacon. Continental and fruit were also on offer. The Waiters brought you coffee or juice and always cleared your plates away, just in case you wanted to go back for more. Lunch was always the same with a good choice but very similar, Pizza, burgers, hot dogs and cheese and ham toasted sandwiches, all with chips, not much really changed at lunch in the restaurant, but can't complain as we always found something to eat. Dinner was more varied with a carver serving a different meat each night. Pork, Ribs, Chicken, Beef to name a few. The buffet served plenty and was never full, lots of space and a good Waiter that would provide you with Beer, Wine, soft drinks and water. Also on site were an Italian, a Japanese (which we didn't try) and a Steak restaurant that could be booked at the front desk. Both the Italian and steak house were a bit limited to their menu, but what we ate was pretty good, so worth a booking. The pools were clean and safe with something for all. The drinking pool, the activity pool, and then 2 quieter pools out the way. All with sunbeds and parasols, some had screens over them too, The sun did tend to get blocked out by 1.30pm by the hotel if you were sat by the drinking pool so best to go down to the beach to continue tanning. Tip. get up early and reserve a sun bed, ignore the signs, everyone else did, so join the club. The sea was warm and had nice waves that weren't too rough. also on the beach was Scuba Caribe who let out kayaks and snorkel equipment. I did 2 scuba dives out there with them for 60 so not too bad. Jet skis were expensive at $65 for 30 mins. The entertainment worked hard all day and night to ensure you had a great time, and although we didn't watch all the shows, what we did see was a team who really try to get everyone involved and put on a good show. For 2 weeks this was a great trip, a hotel that lived up to expectations, and although there are other more expensive Riu hotels in the area, this is the one I chose and I'm sure glad we did. Perfect
"Treated like a king and queen!!!!!"
This is a belated review but we stayed here in September of 2013. Besides the weather being kind of crappy, this resort was amazing!!!!! We were treated like a king and queen! Whatever we needed we got and without a question!!! The crew by the pool was amazing always keeping it lively and entertaining with games and music. As well as the drink waiters, who were right on top of filling you up with a drink!!!!! My only complaint is the way you have to book dinners, there is only a 6 or an 8 seating and you need to stand inline in the morning early to get the good restaurants or they book up fast. But we found if you hang out by the restaurants at night they can usually get you in due to people who don't show up. The food is also so so (with 3 out of 4 of us having at least one day of minor tummy issues) but how we were treated and how amazing the staff is it almost doesn't matter. I can't say enough about everyone that worked here! They are so incredibly happy to make you happy and comfortable. I would defiantly go back here and recommend this resort to anyone!!!!
"Riu is our favorite all-inclusive"
This is an amazing all-inclusive resort ... and I preferred it to the upgraded 'sister' Riu Palace that is next door! The beach is pristine, the buffet's/restaurants were always fresh and well-supplied, and if you bring little ones along (which we did), some of the staff went WAY out of their way to keep them entertained as they became somewhat restless while the adults took some extra time to relax after the meal. Everyone we came in contact with was helpful, friendly, and really went above and beyond to make our stay memorable ... and left us wanting to return as soon as possible!
"Our Honeymoon loved it"
Just got back from our 2 week Honeymoon and we loved it can't wait to go back, The hotel is amazing with everything you need it's right on the beach, our room no 702 was on the 7th floor it was spacious and cleaned everyday, the views was lovely with a sea view we were looking over the quieter side of the pool and beach which was perfect for us. The staff were all very friendly and every where you looked someone was cleaning, the food was amazing with so much to choose from and drinks was excellent with plenty of choice from cocktails to whatever you wanted I loved the cappuccinos, hot chocolates and Mojitos!!! We went to the steakhouse twice it was so nice and the bbq ribs were divine you have to book in advance at reception for the themed restaurants. We loved the quieter beach and pool area, there's the other side of the hotel with more pools and bar pool which is louder if you wanted that round near the sports bar which is open 24/7. We did leave the hotel and go out and about round the local shops, markets ect the hotel isn't far from coco bongos, and there's a 24 hour shop just over the road called oxo which is a lot cheaper than the shop in the hotel. We went on the ferry over to Isla mejures it was ok the pictures in the leaflet they show you didn't look like the place it was a little town with plenty of shops and a beach ect. All in all the weather was hot most days but we had a thunderstorm one night and a rainy day to follow but other than that we had an amazing Holiday and are definitely going back
"Amazing"
Best holiday ever me and my fianc got engaged here and the hotel is amazing staff are fantastic I can't believe people complain about this place it's paradise! We were on the top floor great views and yes lifts may take 40seconds to arrive but so what your on holiday! Fantastic entertainment great. Food and beautiful views! Top marks
"Boyfriend's B-Day"
I stayed at the Riu Cancun from October 9th to the 14 and this had been the most pleasant stays I've ever been too. Love the convenient location, walking distance to all night life. The food was excellent the staff was helpful and friendly. They were constantly cleaning all the time. I loved the pools and all the barsx the drinks were a little watered down but who cares when you can drink all day plus the liquor in your room. I loved that we had a balcony can listen to the ocean at night. I loved everything thing about this place I would definitely stay here again.
"Best hotel I've ever stayed in."
I find it hard to believe people who can complain about this hotel. My stay was 14-28 th oct. Firstly, the rooms are beautifully decorated, we were on 15 th floor and had fantastic views. Few times had to wait for lifts, which stipulate 8 persons, so overcrowding caused some to break down with people inside..... Pool areas and beach are breathtaking, plenty of sun loungers. Buffet restaurant had everything anyone could ever want, plenty of fish and meat dishes. Sushi,Chinese, Mexican, Italian, grill. Salad, veg, lovely soups. Some people had plates piled so high it was disgusting, knowing they would never finish it all, such a waste. We went into steak restaurant twice which was really nice, never tried the Japanese. The Italian we tried through the day which was also really nice. 2 waiters who need a pat on the back, Antonio and William........always found us a table and always remembered what you had to drink. All staff were very hard working, cleaning day and night, place was spotless. Another pat on the back to Jesus ( tom cruise !) in the 24 hr sports bar. He could serve multiples of people all at once, sorry to say we missed him on our last night. The strip is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, couldn't have had a better location. Thank you for a very memorable holiday .
"Amazing Hotel - Even better second time around!"
Stayed here between 6th and 21st October and it was amazing! Hotel was immaculate, staff were amazing and the entertainment team were great. Since the refurbishment the hotel looks even better than it did last year, ultra sleek and modern and there is always something going on. Rooms are a good size and beautifully decorated and the bathroom is a good size as well, definitely have invested a good amount in the hotel and it shows! Always something going on around the hotel during the day and evening, with lots of pool and beach activities in the daytime and kids club and shows in the evening time. When the entertainment team weren't putting on productions in the evening there was always an act on, talent of a high standard! We travelled as a couple in our mid 20's but found there were people of all ages staying at the hotel, varying from couples to groups of friends to people honeymooning! This is our second time at this hotel and we will definitely be back, cannot fault the hotel on anything. The location is perfect as well, around half an hour transfer from the airport and only a 5 minute walk from the nightlife, bars, shops and restaurants of Cancun. Have recommended this hotel to all of my friends who have visited Mexico and each and every one of them has praised it and said they will definitely be back! 5 stars!!
"excellent hotel"
the riu is an excellent hotel...food is top rate...rooms lovely and spacious and staff are very attentive without being overpowering...we had one of the best 2 weeks holiday we have experienced and would certainly return to the riu in cancum.
"Something for everyone"
Stayed from 4 to 19th September and had a fantastic time. Flew on the Dreamliner which was fantastic and hotel only about half an hour from the airport. Hotel has had a refurb recently and is very clean. Hot buffet food is excellent every day with different themes. Plenty of different cooking stations so sometimes spoilt for choice. Drinks choice very good and the mini bar in the room has 4 optics!!! Centrally located too.. Don't forget to visit Coco Bongo,
"holiday 2014"
we went on holiday to riu cancun the hotel was spotless, very nice staff, helpful and willing to help you, rooms were very clean and spacious we also had a mini bar which was stocked every two days with water and beverage, would love to stay there again as it was very close to town within walking distance
"Left A Lasting Impression!"
This was my first trip. Never travelled out of my own city, let alone the country! When I got there, I was amazed. One thing you will appreciate is the staff. Everyone works so hard and I tipped everytine even though it wasn't mandatory! The staff was so fun and energetic! The hotel was always clean and fun to be in! The food was delicious! A lot of variety, and maybe it tasted great because I was always drinking! The only complaint(s) (not a big one) is the elevators were horrible. Took forever. In the sports bar there was only one microwave and one lady decided to microwave one hotdog at a time for her family of 6. Entertainment was great and pools/view of everything was perfect. K First day back in Canada and I've already booked my trip for next year! Viva La Mexico!
"Best holiday ever!!"
Stayed at Riu Cancun from 6th-20th October 2014 and we will definately be back. I previously stayed in 2012 with my daughter and went back with my now fianc for his 50th birthday. Cannot fault anything about the hotel or staff. As per other reviews they clean constantly -all day and literally all night. We stayed by the activity pool during the day, with the most amazing animation team, always smiling with endless energy - we loved Joey, Omar, J.C, David, Abby, Daphne - all of them were just great and the shows they performed in the evening we thought were better than the external acts. Rock Station was our favourite. Activity pool is loud and the guys playing water polo and volleyball get very competetive - so astonishes me that parents allow small children to play unattended in there while this is going on! There are other pools, one next to it that's much quieter and more suitable for children, or the very quiet pool around the other side of the hotel - although I guess the parents will actually have to look after their own children there! We found the drinks to be fine - we asked for top shelf spirits and they remembered this every time we went to the bar - whether it was the pool bar with Santos, Abel and Zaquiero or the evening with Manuel and Juanita, simply amazing people. Ate at the steakhouse three times and our steaks were cooked to perfection each time, didn't try the Japanese and found the Italian a huge disappointment including the only miserable staff we encountered all holiday. Did the speedboat excursion which was worth every penny and we will do again, romantic cruise was a good night with lovely food - did the VIP at Coco Bongos but we felt it was overrated, but we aren't nightclub people and only really went for the show. Only thing that made it the best night ever was that my other half proposed to me there! Only had one occasion when none of the lifts worked so we walked the ten storeys down rather than wait - but even walked past people waiting on floor 2! Booked the VIP lounge for the airport home which was a waste of time, coach was late at the hotel so we only had an hour in the lounge - which was probably just as well as it was packed, with nowhere to sit at all, a broken toilet and the worlds smallest sandwiches - wont bother again. Only annoyance for us was the way some guests behaved - not only those that were so drunk they were sick in public areas and couldn't stand unaided (sometimes by 11am!) and I'm sorry to say these were mostly Brits, but also the loud brash Americans who have never heard of the words please or thank you - hearing 'get me a beer' constantly wound us up. The staff here deserve more than just being thrown a dollar with no respect behind it, we tipped often but also showed our gratitude - a smile and a please also goes a long way and costs nothing! We will definately be going back. Stuart and Chantelle.
"Quality Riu Cancun"
Arrived in Cancun on the 1st of October 2014. Have not got a bad word to say about the RIU Cancun it was a brilliant hotel!! First day we arrived we was greeted with a drink and suit cases taken care of ready to take to the rooms. We was put on the 13 floor, the room was very clean and well equipped, we had a poor view on our balcony due to the structure of the building and the view being blocked by a white wall, we phoned reception and they had no problem changing the room for the next day! After that there was no complaints the food was brilliant, the entertainment team were always there! The best thing about the all inclusive drinks was the fact they were imported and not your typical cheap alcohol which you normally get at an all inclusive resort! The sun did tend to disappear slowly after 1pm in the pool area but was not a problem as the beach was just as good! Overall the cleanliness, friendly staff, food, drink and general facilities of the hotel could not be knocked! One of the best RIU hotels I've been too. Already looking at booking to go back next year!! Would highly recommend to all age groups!
