We have been to many 5 Star hotels around the world and Mexico, however no others compare to the Royalton Rivera Cancun.     "Treated like Royalty at the Royalton!!!"
    From stepping off the cab and being greeted with smiles, a cold drink and a wet hand towel. To Cesar, who showed us where to check in, with Israel who treated us with the up most respect. Back to Cesar who showed us to our amazing room. It was even more beautiful than the pictures. We managed to dine at 6 of the 10 restaurants that were available. All were great. From the hostess greeting us, to the servers. Erik from Agave made us feel like part of his family. His attention to us was outstanding. He asked us all our names and gave special attention to my youngest. I think because her name was Erika. To Veronica at guest services who was also very helpful. To Alma our cleaning lady whom I didn't get to meet, but found out her name and told her co worker to thank for for always leaving our room so beautiful. The pools were always clean. The beach was beautiful. Overall we will definitely be back. Congratulations to the Royalton for having the best employees I have ever delt with. Hope to see Alma, Veronica, Erik, Israel and Cesar really soon. They were amazing people. Cesar and Israel are a true asset to this beautiful resort.
    "Excellent resort"
    This resort is absolutely beautiful. We stayed in a room with a walk out pool which I would recommend. As I have been to other all inclusives in mexico I was pleasantly surprised by the buffet food that was very good. The Italian restraunt and the steak house also very good. For guys there is a dress code of long pants and a shirt that has like tee shirt style sleeves so a Polo for example would be fine. I read through tons of reviews prior to going and even some now on the sight and I will just tell you only listen to the good the place has everything you could need and if you want to go out on excursions as we did there are people available to help you. I have to mention the amazing staff at the martini bar especially Demarcia she is amazing so genuine and nice we really enjoyed her and looked forward to seeing her everyday of our trip. it's the little things like her kindness and time she took to get to know us that really made it that much more special and we were sure to praise her to her boss. The only negative is the sewed problem on the beach there's no hiding no getting around it, it's bad but in all honesty I love the beach and I could of cared less about it bc the resort was so beautiful and had everything you needed the beach was really not an issue. We had an amazing week here and would definitely return. I would definitely recommend this resort.

    loz and Andi currently staying in royalton diamond club this hotel is amazing and we cannot fault this fantastic hotel. We have traveled all ove the world and have to say this is the very best so far. What has made our holiday is our butler service our butler is Issac if you are ever lucky to come here and you have Issac as your coordinator of this fantastic resort then you will find nothing is a problem. We are looking forward to our next 7 days here and again thank you Issac you have made our holiday unforgettable and it will be hard to follow up with this one. Loz and Andi Coventry August 2015
    "Great hotel"
    Try and keep this short. Stayed at Royalton end of may for 14 nights upgraded to diamond club prior to arrival .Which was fantastic great room with a butler (which we never really used)Carlos and Ramon always checked on us to see if we were ok. Food in the buffet was the best buffet we have ever had and we have been to Mexico and jamaica numerous times.The quality and choice of drinks was suberb.All the staff were great (guy in coffee shop could do with smiling more often.) Entertainment was good with el nino on Friday night wife loved this. Yes there is a seaweed problem which needs some attention in its disposal rather than piling it up at the end of the beach. And the need of a courtesy bus to playa and cancun would be great. All in all had a fantastic time and wish to thank all the staff at the hotel for there hard work and the courteous way we were served. Really can't see how some people criticise the hotel and it's staff. See you all next year.Cant wait.. P.s loved the casino and the showgirls.
    "new resort that is very good but different"
    Darlene at Faredeals set us up on another fine vacation between 1-8 august--it was an Apple deal promising a 5 star but they only let you know when you got there. We flew an airline called xtra air--not a great one--co-piolet late on way out delayed flight an hour or more and we were packed on a bus in Cancun to get to the terminal--reminded us of the old days down there. I asked for an isle seat on the way home but the desk clerk with almost no English got me a middle seat--landing at BWI wwas very stiff. Well we got there and drove thru a mangrove marsh to the resort--the place is modern architecture looking like a hugh warehouse or maybe a middle security prison. However when we got into the place it was very modern and clean. We were greated by a person and easily checked in--asked if we wanted to meet for breakfast--they sell time shares or something like them--we declined and there was no hard sell. We asked and got a room on the first floor in the adult section called Hideaway---super nice with a pool reserved for us and several other rooms on our section to share--a semi private pool. This may be the nicest room we have had in ten years of going down there--2 person jacuzzi. awesome shower, comfortable bed, WIFI and all the television channels we could ever want--after we learned to use the remote. Service everywhere was great--rivled Sandals. Food was very good it the buffet and Dorado fish place. Room service was very good--great burgers. The pool picnic put out great food. Entertainment was several cuts above many other resorts--real professional singers and bands The hotel staff did not put on skits--real pros came to entertain and most were worth enjoying. Pedro at the pool bar was awesome and should be promoted to be a manager in that area. Michell at Dorados was very good as was Elizabeth at check in. This place just opened in Dec. I recommend they tell folks not to wash cloths in the pool---we had mid east neighbors who did just that and I did describe to them how disgusting they were--they pulled their stuff inside--they were suprised that someone spoke up--which I did loud and clear--just so they could hear. That was the only issue we had. The beach needs work---lots of seaweed they try very hard to control. Needs more white sand and grooming--they are working that but the place is new. Again all service was great, the facility was great and food and drinks--Modelo is pretty good beer--as well as all mixed drinks were great. Yes, we would go again and I recommend it to others. Try booking thru Faredeals to see if you get a great deal as we did.
    "BEST experience in Riviera Maya!"
    My sister and I stayed at the Royalton in Riviera Maya for 7 nights and we stayed in room 3217. We chose the Diamond club package which includes your own personal butler. Elizabeth and Dominguez (our butlers) were with us for our entire stay and they made sure everything we needed were delivered. Alberto, Kennedy and ALL staff including housekeeping, bartenders, were super friendly and always made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The food was amazing and very clean restaurants. Kudos to ALL staff members!
    "beautiful"
    We have traveled to cancun and punta cana 3 times each year for 10 years, This was the best and most beautiful resort. We upgraded to Diamond club ocean front swim out . Do it in the summer. WHAT A DEAL. Worth every penny. The service was exceptional. Thanks Raymund and Victor for wonderful bar service. Alfredo was great in the main buffet. Specialty restaurants were all above and beyond.
    "Fantastic time in Cancun"
    The hotel is beautiful, the service was great. The attention of the employees was always there. Other than the beach which was not so nice, everything else was wonderful. The room was very comfortable and the hotel staff was nice enough to give me a free upgrade to an ocean view room in a nicer section. The food selection and quality was great. The spa was great with the additional hour of hydrotherapy, highly recommended. Would definitely recommend the hotel and hope to go back soon.
    "Room"
    People do your research!!! Your all quick enough to come on here after the fact if only you did your homework before going on holiday!! There's this thing called Google earth put the hotel location in bada-bing it shows you it's secluded on its own at the end of a long drive through mangrove just like quite a few high end places along that beach area the dorado suites for example!! But I know that cos iv been to that area and I did my research!! I also know there is a sea weed problem in that area the whole area has the problem some areas more affect than others due to tidal movements but again I know cos I researched!! Iv not been yet (5weeks) but I know the main things you are complaining about. The information is out there and not hard to find, don't blame the hotel cos ur to damn lazy to look for the information
    "Really great hotel"
    This hotel is crazy, 8 pool, 17 bars and 9 retaurants. It's the best food of all time that I never eat. It was melting in the mouth. They have that juicy steak so good to die. The service was excellent and the room service too. What was disapointing was the beach. That's nit the problem of the resort it's like this everywhere. For people who have gluten, this hotel is for you, there is a plenty of choices without menu (pasta, pizza, seefood and more) for family this is the perfect destination.

    "Don't believe the bad reviews !!!"
    Had a wonderful time at the Royalton !! Stayed 4 nights with a group of 6. I had the Diamond club which I wouldn't get again if I returned, not worth the money and all the action is at the other pools! The room service was quick. The staff was very nice and accommodating to our needs. The only difference between Diamond club and the regular side was we had liquor in our room and our friends didn't. Other than that I see no need to spend the extra money. If I returned I would defiantly stay in the hideaway section as there are no children there.

    Me and my fianc have just returned from a 2 week stay at this amazing resort we don't know how anybody could possibly complain about this place. As soon as we arrived we were treated like royalty we were greeted with cold face cloths and a glass of champaigne and were upgraded to the hideaway section adults only free of charge after a 5 hour delay from newcastle airport it was a lovely start of the holiday, our room was amazing lovely and clean and modern we had a mangrove view but wernt botherd as we were in hideaway. The food and drinks are the best we have ever had all top branded spirits and the best quality cutlery and glasses and the service was amazing. All alacarte restaurants were delicious with outstanding service even the buffet restaurant was soooo good and again amazing service, our favourite restauraunt was dorado which was exclusive to hideaway seafood restaurant was just lovely we ate 4 times all staff were great especially uber he made me feel so special like a princess he was lovely . We would like to say a big thank you to all the waiters around the hideaway beach bar especially Jessica her service was great we never had to ask for another drink she was always there with another befor we had even finished she was always smiling and happy, and also the waiters in the lobby bar on a night were friendly and fun and also angel in the casino bar was amazing our glass was never empty we did tip but only when felt we wanted too we got the same treatment all the time. The coffee shop was amazing lovely frappinchos and lattees and pastries soo nice. Also a big shout out to ceaser and Freddie the entertainment team they all worked so hard. Please do not hesitate to book this hotel you will not be disappointed it's the best holiday we have ever had with definite 5 star treatment would definitely return!!!
    "Viva Mexico!!"
    We stayed here for two weeks mid July and had a fantastic holiday. Hotel located close to airport in a very secluded location. Our room in the Diamond Club Area with swim up pool was one of the best rooms we have stayed in. Our room had two Queen sized beds which were so comfortable. There were two rain showers, two bathroom sinks and a whirlpool bath. We had no problems with housekeeping and indeed both towels and mini bar were restocked twice a day. We used the Diamond Club Pool and were impressed with the excellent level of service provided by the pool staff and must mention Francisco, Diego and the rest of the team. There was a range of comfortable sun beds, cabanas and Bali beds. We had no problem getting a bed and were pleased that you could not reserve a bed until 8.30am. Any beds not being used before this time had personal belongings removed by the poolside staff. We do feel that there needed to be more sunshades. We did not even have to leave our sun bed to get a drink because staff were always going round taking drinks orders. We also looked forward to the visit by the ice cream cart to the poolside. The beach had lovely white sand, comfortable beds but unfortunately there is a problem with the seaweed. We ate in all of the restaurants including the buffet and again were very impressed with the variety and quality of the food available. Breakfast was amazing, plenty of show cooking and no queues. Diamond Club allowed us to book the restaurants and our butlers, Elizabeth, Marcos, Israel and Eduardo were very efficient and helpful and we got the times we wanted. Every day we visited Scoops, the coffee, ice cream and cake parlour. Entertainment catered for a wide range of ages and even at lunchtime by our pool we experienced shows highlighting Mexican Culture and Dance. There was a craft market on Monday night to buy local souvenirs. Ross was our Entertainment Rep for the Diamond Club and had a super personality who got adults and children to engage with the available activities if you wanted to participate. He would always stop and speak to everyone. All of the bars stocked leading brands. Service was very good and we tried different cocktails every day. Our favourite bar early evening was Dips as Juan, Jose and Angel ran an excellent bar service. Thanks also go again to Elizabeth and Marcos for the birthday surprises they provided. We absolutely would recommend this hotel and if you are holidaying here it would be advisable to bring mosquito repellent. To improve the poolside facilities we hope the hotel management provide more sun shades. Overall, we had a fantastic relaxing sun filled holiday with excellent food and service in a stunning hotel.
    "Great family experience"
    We did a full week vacation with 3 children. (12,13, & 13). We have never been to Mexico and I did lots of reading on the resort. I am not looking with rose colored glasses. Things weren't perfect. But I read so many reviews I knew what I should expect. The staff treated us great, but we feel we thought of most of them as friends or family...not staff. Our family shared the presidential suite in the diamond section. PERFECT ROOM, VIEW, LOCATION.

    We went to this resort for my birthday from July 17-24th. As soon as I walked into the lobby I was breath taken by the beautiful view of the ocean. I have never been to an all inclusive resort so for me this was complete luxury !!! They checked us in and Betty was an angel who gave us a free upgrade to a swim up room which was amazing. Kelly helped us with everything else and was so helpful and friendly !! The bar tenders would come to our swim up to serve us which was awesome!! Marcielle , Pedro were the absolute best! The cabana boys and waiters and waitresses on the beach were also friendly and amazing. The resort is clean and the staff work their butts off, they work 24/7 and keep the resort in immaculate condition. The negative reviews are from those people who had a few unfortunate incidents....we never waited for seating in any of the restaurants and the food was fantastic. We stayed at the hideaway side and I really have no complaints. Yes there are a few tiles missing here and there and yes there are ants and yes there is seaweed on the beach.....but f you want pristine clear waters then you need to spend the extra bucks and go somewhere else. The seaweed is not the resorts fault, they didn't put it there so please disregard the reviews about that....we knew the beach wasn't going to be amazing but I really didn't care because I'm not an ocean person, there is so much more to do in the resort that it's not that big of a deal. We were spoilt with the swim up room but yes people did go out at 7.00 am to save their spots .... But I think you just need to be nice to the staff and treat them with respect to get what you really want ...it's not that hard. I was not greeted by a single rude staff member ....they were all friendly and awesome and hard working. I have recommended the resort to all my friends and family and had the best time ever !
    "5 day"
    I read a lot of negatives so thought I would add some thoughts. The food is awesome regardless if in the buffet or at restaurants. No reservations except the Japanese restaurant. Get in line by 6am. Lots of group hog up space by reserving a LOT of spaces. We ate at the steak house, Italian, Japanese. Went back to the steakhouse again on our last night. All we great. The earlier you eat the less waiting you do. I would recommend one thing for management of the buffet; it's ridiculous to wait 10-15 minutes to get seated. Let people go in and pick a table that fits the size. You don't need to escort people and get room numbers for buffet eating. The pools are warm. Lots of people on here griping about tiles missing. It happens and it's no big deal. You better mark your territory early. There's a lot of umbrella and cabanas to give shade. Overall we had a great stay. There's some issues with the new resort but it was great.
    "Great place! Best pool side service!"
    We enjoyed every part of our room including our favorite part, the swim up pool. We had a room overlooking the pool and spent most of our time in our private pool outside of our back porch. Our favorite pool server was Virgilio. He was the best part of our entire vacation- hands down! He had our drinks and lunch coming before we even thought to ask him. We only ate at a few restaurants including agave, hunter and armadillo. Hunter steakhouse was an average of a two hour wait if you got there when it opened at 6:00- I believe if you were a diamond club customer you had the ability to make reservations, otherwise you had to wait. We didn't have long waits for any other restaurants. We thought the food was great and the majority of our waiters including Artulo from Hunter were great. We loved our trip and thought it met our expectations... Good food and a great pool. There was limited seating at the pool unless you got down there around 7 am (which we would never get up that early on vacation) so it was essential that we had the swim up pool in order for us to enjoy our trip.
    "Excellent stay"
    Incredible stay...beautiful hotel, delicious food, amazing staff! We were within the Hideaway section and had a lovely junior suite overlooking the mangrove. This ended up being a quiet and relaxing spot. Buffet was always delicious as well as all of the other restaurants. Staff goes above and beyond to accommodate requests.
    "The greatest All Inclusive i had ever traveled to"
    we had a romantic escape for a weekend and came to this hotel, must say that i am impressed on the luxury and the great service of all the hotel and staff. 9 Restaurants, best of all of them is the Greek and the Steakhouse, The water area for children is so amazing!!! The bars and nightlife at the hotel is very good.

    The whole stay was amazing. We were in the presidential suite with a butler. Miguel was our butler he was amazing, took care of everything we needed . Didn't have to make any restaurant reservations , he did it all. An excellent trip will definitely go back. The food was great , the buffet , zen and Italian were the best! Will definitely go back.
