"The Perfect Holliday"
Ultra Luxury Montego Bay Resort exceeded all my expectations. The resort is beautiful and extremely clean. The staff were so friendly they made me feel special and like family. I would have to say the food was my favorite. They have everything for everyone that is extremely tasty and well presented. The beach was super clean and the pools were beautiful. There are many activities. The 24 hour room service was a bonus. The spa is incredible and my massage was so relaxing. The beach party and live band was great. I was a preferred guest with the swim-out room and I suggest everyone try this even just once. The only thing wrong is our stay was only four days and there was so much to do and not enough time. I am looking forward to going back.
"Wonderful Trip with Girlfriends"
I recently stayed at Ultra Luxury Montego Bay Resort with 6 retired teacher friends. We have been traveling together for many years but this was by far the best trip ever. We usually try to find an All Inclusive which this is and everything was perfect! The food in the buffet was great and all the restaurants were wonderful. Our favorite was the Asian Restaurant! The jerk chicken from the cart was a daily delight! We loved dining outside when possible. The beach and pool were clean and waiter service outside was excellent. We especially enjoyed Leo's antics. The hotel was also clean and our maid service was great. We did not do any excursions because some in our group had been to Jamaica and we enjoyed just relaxing with good friends. Weather was perfect in January. I would recommend Club Mobay at the airport. Lines were awful but we were traveling on a Sat after bad weather in the states and many flights were rerouted. I would recommend this resort highly!
"Anniversary Celebration"
Hospitality at this truly all inclusive Ultra Luxury Preferred Club Montego Bay, Jamaica is second to none. Butler service provided by Refinesha, Dalton and Michael was extremely attentive. The beach and pool were pristine. Our room was immaculate. This is a breathtaking resort with excellent restaurants. What a way to celebrate or just relax. Treat yourself to a SPA experience. It was very hard to leave this paradise. This resort is highly recommended.
"Make the Splurge for Preferred Club - It's Totally Worth It!"
We visited for a quick romantic getaway and were just SO, SO pleased with everything at this resort. Our check in was seamless, and though we had booked a regular room, we were upgraded to a preferred club room with swim out veranda.... it was SOOOO nice, overlooking the mountain and water, with our own little pool, and an outdoor soaking tub (which we didn't use - but how decadent!). We'll definitely spring for that level room next time. DO let them talk you into the pass for Club MoBay for your departure - it's a private lounge/bar at the airport that includes drinks, snacks, a kids club, wi-fi, tvs, and even showers that you can enjoy until they call your flight for boarding.Excellent option to have! We found the food to be quite good - better than typical all-inclusive resorts (no cold mushy scrambled eggs for breakfast, they did custom omelettes as well as poached eggs for make-your-own benedict). I wouldn't call the Jamaican restaurant on property "super authentic" but still quite tasty (just not at all spicy - which we happen to like). Bars and bartenders were great. We didn't notice any "no name" brands on Rum or Vodka... and mimosas every morning were a nice start to the day. Service was very very good. Everyone on staff was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. Property was very clean. Beaches were well maintained and staffed. Room service was quick and eager to please (as well as being free/included at no additional cost). Simply lovely. Definitely treat yourself to the SPA - it's not just about the service you get (we had a couples hot stone massage) but also the water/steam/sauna/cold plunge lounge you have access to before and after your service. Really puts you in the mood to relax. The massage itself was pretty on par with others we've received - but we got a pretty good value in the form of spa credits for our visit (there's also credits for bottled wine/champagne). As for other guests, we found this to be a very relaxed property. It's 18 or 21 and up only, so if you're looking for a quiet kid-free escape this fits the bill. We didn't notice any particularly rowdy, lewd, or crazy partygoers. Most just seemed content to unplug and unwind. We'll definitely go again someday.
"I'm a Believer"
Let me begin by thanking all of the TripAdvisor members that reviewed this property. They were very helpful in setting expectations and prepared us for a great getaway. We went on a 4 day package with Westjet Vacations. As advertised, resort was first-class in every way ... despite the fact that the weather failed to co-operate. Rooms, grounds, amenities and the food were outstanding. What I really want to comment on is the staff. What a wonderful difference from our experiences in the Dominican (see prior reviews). You can see the evidence of superior training in customer service in the ready smiles and willingness to engage with guests. Unlike previously reviewed resorts ... not once did we have a staff member say "can't, won't, don't or NO". Instead people made the effort to try and satisfy requests and were proactive in following up. The best example was the noisy air conditioning in the room when we arrived. A brief comment to the Westjet rep (shout out to Kevin) resulted in a maintenance person being in our room 2 hrs later replacing the faulty fan. Great first impression and set up for the balance of our stay. Some helpful tips for others if you are headed this way. * The El Patio restaurant is open 10PM to 2AM with a selection of hot food. Faster than room service and wider selection if you arrive late (as we did) and happen to be hungry. * The French and Italian restaurants were quite good with the seafood options being somewhat better (in our opinion). * At departures, the Club Mobay departure lounge was a good deal (US$30 per head). Free drinks, good snacks and a comfortable seat was welcome as our flight was 3 hrs delayed due to the disruption at Toronto Pearson on Jan. 7th. In summary, when asked if we would come back ... our answer was an enthusiastic YES ... just need to win the lottery to free up the time to do so. Perhaps more importantly for AMI Resorts, we are now aware of all properties within the group and will absolutely check these out in preference to other resort operators.
"1st impression of Jamaica - great"
This was our 1st visit to Jamaica over X-mas and New Years - for the most part we had a fabulous holiday some of the people that helped to make the holiday are as follows - Oraldo in the World caf breakfast crew was the best - his effort to make everyone start their day off was great ensuring that you were met with a smile and your table was always given outstanding attention. He often sang to selected tables on a daily basis often accompanied by a fellow female to huge applause from the patrons. Another employee was Sparks from the entertainment crew she was always making contact and at the piano bar with the pianist who was also great - Wilton in the piano bar would make anyone's day always knowing what your preferred beverage of choice was - he even created a drink for my wife which we name a peppermint pattie to settle the stomach after supper every night. Avion - our beach beverage provider was also great - she would often go out of her way to ensure that we were looked after while enjoying the sunshine. Roach was a individual that likes to share his Jamaican heritage with hosting a Jamaican cooking demonstration and a history lesson on the island of Jamaica and it's people which we found very informative. As for the rooms to our standards they were outstanding - always clean and made up everyday and our sheets turned down every night. The only negative thing that we can comment on is the disrespect of other vacationers by using the beach as their personal ashtray - with cigar and cigarette butts often stumbled upon. The water at the preferred club was fabulous - the erected break water ensured that one could stay in the ocean for extended lengths of time without getting knocked around by surf.
"Lovely Stay for New Year's"
We had a lovely stay at Ultra Luxury Montego Bay Resort. From check in to check out it was a very good experience. The weather was perfect 28-29 c everyday and a little cooler at night, with few bugs or humidity. Sometimes you have to travel quite a distance to get nice weather at Christmas, so it was great that Jamaica has consistent weather.Truly a relaxing stay. The beach was quite pretty, a little smaller than what we are used to but the scenery was breathtaking. Our room was well appointed and very comfortable. I really appreciated the free wifi as data roaming can be incredibly expensive. It was fun to instantly send pictures and updates to loved ones at home and not be shocked with a huge bill on return We've been to many all inclusive resorts, and the food can be very poor quality, but at this resort the food was quite tasty and they offered a lot of variety. Room Service is pretty much like any room service with okay selections. However the restaurants were quite good. The New Year's Eve menu we felt was outstanding at Portofino, and was available at all the restaurants that evening. Also, If you were willing to pay for it, they had an extensive wine iist and we were impressed by the selection. . We also loved the snack area for the preferred guests. High quality breakfast items and afternoon canapes and small sandwiches and salads were an awesome treat. Premium bar brands were also available and that was really nice for the discerning traveller. We also loved our daily trek over to CoCo cafe where the barrista Garfield prepared capuccinos to taste and we didn't have to ask twice for the little chocolate topping we requested first night.. We also want to acknowledge Ralston and Wayne our beach attendants, Clifton our driver, Joseph the bellman, and the gents at the Carribean restaurant. I was ill with tonsilitis and tried to self medicate, but gave up and arranged to see the doctor on call. She was there within the hour, prescribed appropriate antibiotics and I felt better almost immediately. Yes you pay for the service, but if you have travel health insurance you should be able to submit it to your bill to your health care insurance service provider for re-embursement. We took the couple's massage "wine therapy" Basically wine candles are melted and the wax along with oil was poured on the body for a warm sensation. It was pleasant, but not a lot of massage. In future we'd prefer a more traditional massage that really works the muscles. We liked this hotel because it's proximity to everything, from the restaurants to the beach all very convenient. Also, we flew from Hamilton Ontario a convenient small airport, and it's just under 4 hours to get there. Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience due to the weather on our return, but given that so many haven't had good travel experiences in the North east this year we considered ourselves lucky to be many hours delayed, but not stuck in an airport for hours on end, as the airline's webpage updated the delay. As a result, we were able to get a late check out for 5 pm and not be charged. A nice touch and very much appreciated. Thank you. We hope to return very soon.
"Our home away from home"
We truly felt invited back home with our second visit to Ultra Luxury Montego Bay. Both times we have chosen the preferred side for the private beach and smaller crowd. Plus, we enjoy perusing the private snack area on our way back to our room after soaking up the sun. My husband LOVED the mini cheescakes and the finger sandwiches were just right to tide us over between meals - not that we were ever hungy! We decided to bring our adult sons with us this year. To keep them entertained, we decided to take them to Negril for snorkeling, parasailing and diving at Rick's cafe. Our previous visit, we had booked "Norman" to drive us to Ocho Rios. We had such a wonderful experience with Norman two years earlier, we thought we would try to book our excursion with him again. We were in luck - Norman was available and he did not disappoint. He is always the professional, very polished, warm and caring. We always enjoy our Jamaican history lesson while Norman drives us to our destination. Jamaica is so rich in history, it's a bonus to learn about it from someone who lives there and truly loves his country. Norman would always direct us to where we needed to be and would stay with us, rather than just dropping us of. We felt as though we had our own personal security guard. He would negotiate prices for us and make certain we weren't taken advantage of. Norman also took a special interest in our sons and gave them Reggae music CD's as gifts. He also treated us to sugar cane on our trip back home. Norman also provides shuttle service to and from the airport at a better value than other shuttle services. Thank you Ultra Luxury Montego Bay and Norman. We hope to be back soon.
"Awesome vacation!!!"
This was our first visit to Jamaica and our first stay at a Ultra Luxury Montego resort. The accommodations exceeded our expectations!! The service was wonderful. Everyone is so friendly...we felt they went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one. Especially Michael...he anticipated our needs and made us feel very special! The food was fantastic...and such a variety. We had Preferred Club accommodations and the views from our room were breathtaking!! I can't wait to go back!!!!
"Amazing experience"
We stayed at Ultra Luxury Montego Bay before Christmas and had a wonderful stay. The staff were outstanding, with nothing being too much trouble. We were lucky enough to have the butler service and both Michael and Dalton were exceptional in every way. Having stayed at many hotels in the Caribbean this has to be the best. The General Manager Mr. Hun and Isabel the manager of the preferred club set the standards that other hotels can only dream of achieving. Big thanks to all the staff but here are a few that helped make our stay so special, Andree, Nadine, Pedrosa,Patrick, O Shane and Kerry Anne, also big up to the jerk and coconut men! Finally like to say Happy New Year to all the staff and holiday 2014 soon come! From Lee Beacon and Pauline Spry
"Superb!"
We just got back from this fantastic property where we spent 9 amazing days!!! Excellent accomodations, customer service, a/c levels and ease of controls, beach and pool maintenance !! We would like to encourage guests to tip the Staff members that go out of their way to make your stay spotless and very very spoiled! We notice that in the cost of our stay, tipping reasonably staff members made our experience totally different, they love to feel appreciated and our expenses didn't "jump" because of tipping. We will go back next month if we didn't have to work, and we treasure our experience greatly.
"Excellent relaxing retreat"
In line with many of the other reviews here, this resort gave us a fantastic and relaxing holiday. This was our first all inclusive and so I can not compare it to others, but I can say that I thought it was real value for money. The resort is clean and the rooms were furnished to a good standard. The food on the resort was of a good quality and great selection. All the restaurants have table service apart from one large buffet one at lunchtimes. We ate in all of them over the 10 days there and enjoyed the variety. Coming from Europe I can say that the food is not traditional French or Italian etc but still very enjoyable. Drinks are great and they do not give short measures!! We booked one of the preferred club rooms and we had a great mini bar but we barely touched it. We did enjoy the preferred club lounge with nice canaps on offer throughout the day and it also offered a much quieter place to have breakfast. Also, the preferred club has a help yourself bar. The Ultra Luxury Montego Bay resort is where all the entertainment is and nearly all the restaurants are there. I would upgrade again in the future as I thought it was worth it. The preferred club beaches have different shaded sun loungers. Regarding Tips: It seems that as many people tip as don't tip. We tipped in the sit down restaurants and for the bellman, but we did not tip at breakfast or when drinks came round. Maybe in the height of the season it may improve the service but we had no issues. Dress code was not followed in the restaurants but the majority made the effort and men wore casual trousers and shirts or smart shorts. Most had dress sandals or closed shoes. I would definitely return to this resort and it has given us the confidence to try other Ultra Luxury resorts. Overall the staff are all fantastic and happy and it makes your stay so much better and the feel of the place is soooo relaxing.
"Post Christmas Experience"
So my BFF and I decided to do a return trip to Ultra Luxury Montego Bay since our last visit Xmas 2012, we decided to bring along a friend to share the experience with us, we are happy to say that Ultra Luxury Montego Bay was absolutely awesome the second time around, the food was exceptional and it would be remiss of me if I didnt mention the excellent service of the staff and in particular I would like to make special mention of their Guess Relations Manager, Billy Love, who made our experience worth every moment of it!
"Great Snorkeling at a Wonderful Resort"
Ultra Luxury Montego Bay is now our favorite resort in Jamaica. We have been to Jamaica 25 times and stayed at many resorts including most of the Sandals. This was our second time at Montego Bay and was special because we had access to the Preferred Club lounge, pool, and beach, as well as WIFI. We had a very enjoyable time snorkeling at the West end, outside the swimming area at the Ultra Luxury Preferred Club. The reef is extensive, varied, and beautiful. The fish are numerous with a few unusual specimens such as orange filefish, cottonwicks, and shy hamlets. We were thrilled to see spotted eagle rays a couple of times. Snorkeling is also good at the huge reef, which you can swim to from the main beach. If you take your own snorkel gear and a divers flag, you can go at any time. At watersports, they do not rent snorkel gear but do supply masks and fins for the free escorted snorkel trips. Motorized water sports are available for various prices. We travelled with our holiday friends and enjoyed a joy ride on the boat as our friend went wakeboarding. They charge for this activity and take you to a calm bay where the cruise ships dock. We really enjoyed the new modern rooms, excellent dining, and top shelf drinks. It is fun to have soft ice cream and fancy coffees at Coco Caf. One day for lunch we got jerk chicken from the beach cart and took it to the Seaside Grill to enjoy with salad bar and wine. Most of the staff are friendly and attentive even if you do not tip them. It was nice to chat with Francois, who used to work at Breezes Grand Negril, and to see Ethan, who produces an exciting circus show. Thank you so much to Isabel Rueda, Preferred Club Manager, who made our holiday extraordinary. We will be back!
"Awesome!"
We had an absolutely awesome time at Montego Bay! Everyone was so friendly all the time, every day! Big ups to the Entertainment team who went above and beyond. Thanks to Cornflakes, Mello and Leo who kept us well entertained! :-)
"Love this place!!!"
Amazing beach! Snorkelling right from the resort... Preferred upgrade with a butler is the way to go. Takes the stress out of relaxing. Beds were amazing and food was delicious! Everyone must go to Jamaica mon. ;-)
"Amazingly Friendly Staff"
Upon arriving at Montego Bay my wife and I were greeted with smiles and handshakes from everyone. The first day was more uneasy figuring your way around but the paths laid out make it easy. The food was good but the most important detail is the friendliness of the staff. Pick this place and tell my favorite bartenders Leonard, Ashoni and Crisian to make you something of their choice.
"Jamaican staff are incredibly friendly"
Wow the folks at Ultra Luxury Montego Bay have got to be some of the friendliest people on the planet. We are here on a family adventure at Christmas time and are so impressed with the friendly and gracious Jamaican Staff. The smiles, "the good mornings",the attentive unhurried care, and the friendly conversation we have received are really blessings for us. Some standout staff members include Xavier Roach who taught us Jamaican cooking and the very next day turned around and gave us an excellent lecture on Jamaican history. Antoinette in the main office is a wonderful concierge who provided for all our needs including a private tour of historical sites and authentic Jamaican "Jerk" cooking out in the countryside. Keep up your hiring practices, you all have some incredible people!!!
"Would Have Stayed Forever"
We just arrived home following a 7-day stay and an amazing time. This place is absolutely wonderful mostly due to the amazing people who work there. I do not understand the negative reviews but scrolling through them, it seems that most of them are the result of misunderstandings or one-time incidents or occurrences that are bound to happen when human beings are involved. There is nothing consistent about these negative reviews which actually says a lot about this place. The food and alcohol are fantastic, the beach is beautiful, the people are friendly, and the rooms are comfortable and impeccable. While all of the staff is great, I would like to highlight our amazing breakfast and lunch buffet waiter-Oraldo. This guy is so wonderful! He's always smiling, singing, and his enthusiasm is so contagious. He offers the best service out of everyone and genuinely cares about doing his job well. Ask to sit with him at breakfast and you will have a fantastic time! Also, Jamaica is an amazing place with a rich and textured culture and it's impossible to fully experience that while just staying within the resort. I would encourage you to go on some of the excursions, but at the very least, spend time talking to the staff about their lives and culture. I had so many fascinating conversations with people and learned things I would have not otherwise had a chance to know. We made some great friends and can't wait to go back!
"Home away from Home"
We have stayed twice at Ultra Luxury Montego Bay, and have fallen in love with Jamaican's because of our experience at this resort. The staff are beyond compare; they are so friendly and have a strong desire to make your stay the most enjoyable possible. In fact, we have made several friends at Secrets and now call it our home away from home. In addition to the staff, the accommodations are very comfortable and well appointed. The restaurants at the resort offer a wide variety of cuisine to suit every taste; from simple wraps & hamburgers to French, Italian and Asian fare. The pools are quite lovely and very inviting, and the private beach is gorgeous! We plan to return again ... and will likely make this an annual destination for years to come.
