Our first trip to Murrell's Inlet. As we have been to Myrtle beach but find it can be just too noisy and congested like Miami beach. But a mere 15 min away is this quaint sea side area of great restaurants and Bars/ saloons. We were recommended to stay at Ellington at Wachesaw, a wonderful resort that has it all. "We needed a suite near Myrtle beach to stay and"
Our first trip to Murrell's Inlet. From the front desk to the pool, to the suites, everything was perfect for us. The one bedroom suite was just what we were looking for a one bedroom, with a full kitchen, a living room and a private Bathroom with double sinks. I believe it may be a time share , lucky people who bought in here. Something I will look into next year when we comeback. They even had water aerobics on M,T,W with a terrific instructor. They also had an activities coordinator (Marilyn) who took us out digging clams and oyster picking. What a sweet, knowledgeable local lady she is. On top of that there were some deals on golf like free rounds on the attached PGA golf course or a maximum of $25.00 a round ( what?) on a PGA golf course that was named golf course of the year a couple of years a go. My husband played a few rounds and loved it, extremely challenging was his comment and immaculate. Club house and pro-shop, newly renovated and outdoor bar was happening!! All in all this was a wonderful two week stay during which time we got to meet some great staff, that made our experience special. On the front desk Whitney went above and beyond for us. Marilyn was amazing with her local knowledge of the area, restaurants and teaching classes or going on field trips with her. Jimmy one of the maintenance men was very polite and responsive. Greg was also very helpful. Andrea from housekeeping was very friendly and looked after all our needs. I hope I'm getting all the names right I usually make a habit of writing names down so they get their positive or negative feedback. The only negative I could find was slow internet and older TVs, so I spoke to the property manager a Mr. Jeremy and he assured me that, this all would be fixed in the coming months before the summer season. We can't wait to come back for more Southern Hospitality.....
"This resort is a resort, not a Hotel , comes with a great PGA golf course attached"
From the beautiful check in area, to the friendly staff , and concierge staff, the adventure begins. The rooms were more than adequate and the kitchen supplies excellent. The appliances were effective, including washer and dryer even in the one bedroom. The resort offers you two daily rounds of golf at a PGA golf course, which I played, it was a wicked track and I could see why it was golf course of the year a few years ago. The indoor pool was great and hot tub enjoyable. Front desk staff were very helpful, but our go to young lady was Whitney, she handled any of our issues or questions as fast as possible and if it was just before her days off, she even called two days later to check on how we were doing. I've reviewed over 100 hotels and stayed in 3-400 , I can honestly say I have never had any one call me after their days off to check on how we were doing, kudos to Whitney !!
"Awesome"
Great place to visit. Just like being at home minus the headache. Girls loved the pool and the mini- put. Grounds and units are kept in wonderful shape. Even bbq to use outside. Wifi is a little sketchy though. All in all had a great time.
"A great family stay or golfing stay or a resort vacation !!"
The week we spent here was a pleasant time. The resort is not just a hotel , it is a resort, with plenty of added features not only can you play on a fabulous PGA golf course, which is totally demanding and a recent golf course of the year. It has two outdoor pools , one huge indoor pool, one out door hot tub and one indoor. There is an activities director , who knows a ton of local restaurants and history. There is a mini putt, outdoor hammocks, A bbq area with modern propane Bbq's in a covered picnic area. The resort is minutes from the ocean and hundreds of Great restaurants and shopping centers .... you will not go wrong here. The only con is the weak internet , No flat screens in phase one. So request Phase two level Three golf course view , one or two bedroom fully loaded. All appliances , everything. I will give this resort a five as they say they are working on the issues. So I will trust they do and will check next year to see if management followed thru.
"Superb Stay!!"
I frequently stay at the Ellington and I wanted to take the time to let everybody know what kind of Resort this is. Every time I come down to stay I am welcomed by the Front Desk by name. Whitney, Katie, Ryan, Cristina, and Tamra are always so helpful. Not to mention the awesome management team. Jennifer and Jeremy are great! I never have anything bad to stay. If you looking for a family friendly resort this is it!
"Phenomenal Experience"
The workers and experience were phenomenal! I initially was staying in Phase 1 and had an issue because i wanted an upgrade with flat-screen TV's one worker Ryan DePaul went out of his way to assist us he get us a better room with the TV's! Thats customer service you cant beat and thats why we will always choose Ellington at Wachesaw!
"Looking forward to another relaxing stay!"
I have stayed at this resort several times in the past and have enjoyed each visit. My most recent visit was a solo trip to get away and relax for the new year. I rented a 2 bedroom villa that was clean, beautifully decorated, and inviting. Each bathroom has a large tub with jets to massage away any stress of the day. The gas fireplace came in handy due to the colder temps this time of year but I've enjoyed the screened in balcony on previous visits. The kitchen is fully furnished with a full refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, can opener, tea kettle, coffe maker, etc. to make a longer stay easier on the budget since you can cook your own meals. Laundry can be done in the rooms stackable washer/dryer. The pool is enclosed so even during colder weather, you can enjoy some time in the water. Jennifer Strickland is the Front Office Manager and she has always provided excellent customer service and answered any questions I had about the area with regard to entertainment, restaurants, shopping, etc. I look forward to going back and enjoying some time at the nearby state beach when the weather is a little nicer.
"Great Stay!!"
We had a great stay here at the Ellington Resort, we stayed in what they call Phase 2. in a 2 bedroom unit. When we checked in we were greeted by a wonderful person named Katie. As soon as she walked in she greeted us with a smile and was very warm and welcoming. She asked ours names and went over our arangements with us. She checked my ID which made us feel good, not a lot of places will ask anymore for ID. She was prompt checking in and explained where our room was. The maintenance man helped us carry our luggage in since my husband and i have bad backs. Throughout the week we made tee times and had the pleasure of speaking to Katie again and when we picked up our voucher she recognized us when we walked in the door. This is just customer service that you don't find very often. Our grandchildren enjoyed the activity building and the pizza party that went on. We will most certainly be returning to ellington, with beautiful rooms and great customer service!
"EXCELLENT!!"
I had a GREAT stay with Ellington. The weather wasn't what I wanted but what can you do! We would recommend this resort to everybody. Our room was great and roomy, and CLEAN. Excellent staff, Whitney at the front desk was helpful and always smiling. It made us feel very welcomed. The activities director was great as well, it was awesome to have something to do with the kids.
""Excellent STAY a Christmas Retreat""
What can I say! This was a great Christmas vacation for myself and my family, The staff was magnificent. The two staff members that made our stay well worth it was Katie & Ryan. We booked a 3 bedroom (which is a 2 bedroom with a 1 bedroom lockout). It was a total of 8 people in our party. Our 3 boys received PlayStation 4 gaming systems for Christmas so it was very important that we have TV's that were compatible with the PlayStation 4. The initial unit they put us in had a great layout, clean and spacious, but had the older TV's. My husband talked with Katie and Ryan, and they did everything they could to move us to an updated unit and they did it. They really saved our Christmas. With it being Christmas and cool at the beach, we knew the only way the kids would enjoy this vacation was to make sure they could play their games. This resort has a lot to offer in accommodations. When looking on the web you don't get a real visual of the resort and what is offered in each unit. The kitchens are fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher. It also has a 6 seat dinning room table with a bar seating for 3. Each room has a TV and the one bedroom unit is large. It has 1 bedroom 1 bath with double sinks and also a full kitchen with a 4 seat dining table and pull out couch. In this 3 bedroom unit we had two bedrooms with King size beds and 1 bedroom with twin beds. In each living room area there where pull out couches and a total of 3 full bathrooms. There where planned activities daily and the indoor pool was heated. The pool started at 3 feet up to 5 feet, but it was ok for the kids. A lot of the restaurants where closed because of the holidays but we had a great Christmas dinner at California Dreaming. This was a great place to visit for the holidays.
"Very Family Oriented"
We love this resort it is very clean and quiet. Nice to have free passes to MB State Park & Huntington Beach State Park. Very nice quiet area for families to share :) Don't play golf however, r the golf course is beautifully maintained
"Pleasant stay in quiet area in Murrell's Inlet, SC"
This resort with golf course is well maintained and pleasant. It is also very near a hospital in case one might be required. We are owners in Festiva and this is one of their properties. The area has fresh seafood restaurants, state parks,Brookgreen gardens, and the Grand Strand Beaches and plentiful shopping areas. Lots of activity there. We attended a wedding and visited with grandchildren. There is something for everyone in the area. I would recommend it for a pleasant home away from home retreat.
"Close to the beach"
Even though the resort isn't on the beach, it is very close to Myrtle Beach State Park and Huntington Beach State Park- and they give you a pass for your car to get in to any SC State Park which is a great value. It's nice to visit the parks because you can have more space at the beach without all the hotel traffic. There are also bathroom and shower facilities at both parks. Plus Huntington Park has a marsh where you can see alligators and birds up close. Back at the resort there is a nice indoor pool and a small outdoor pool, hot tub, putt-putt golf course, picnic area with a small fountain and charcoal grills... You can save money by cooking in your kitchen in your room- it really does have everything you need! Even a washer and dryer. You get a starter kit of laundry soap, dish and dishwasher soap, tissues, bath soaps, coffee, cream, sugar... We brought a lot of unnecessary items that we won't need to bring and take up space next time. (Someone commented on the TV's and stove- they are flat-screen now and glass-top stoves) The screen was not sagging. (We were in unit 9 but they all looked the same)
"Beach trip"
Very nice and clean. Very safe and friendly place. enjoyed our time there. My kids love the pools and putt putt course. We rode bikes one day. Had a lot of neat things you could do in the activities department. We didn't to do any because we were doing other things but would really like to the next time. Loved the fact that you could borrow board games and movies. We were able to go to Huntington State park and my husband and I did a tour of the Waccamaw river it was really nice. Some of our party enjoyed a game of golf. Very nice course. We will be going back in the future. Really enjoyed our vacation.
"Nice for the Price"
This is the third time that we have stayed at this resort, and we enjoy it! We are a family of four, and typically reserve a one bedroom with a sofa bed. It is a little cramped, but we don't spend too much time in the room. It does have a full kitchen, so we usually eat breakfast and one other meal a day in the room to save on costs. The unit also has a washer and dryer in it that is excellent to have with all of the beach trips. We usually can get a really fantastic deal on Expedia or Price Line. Honestly, you can't beat it for the price. We usually spend a lot of time in the pools, it is convenient to most anywhere you want to go, and usually very clean.
"Nice enough and convenient to lots of things"
We stay at Ellington through our Festiva timeshare. It's very nice, especially since it allows us to check out with a $0 bill. The rooms are like a condo unit with kitchen, living area, bed and bath. Far better than a hotel room. The decor feels homey and our unit seemed pretty updated. there were a few minor cleanliness issues that I noticed upon entering. Dust on the vents and grime along some corners but honestly overall it is a very nice room. There's everything you need for an enjoyable vacation, with a full kitchen, 2 TV's, dining area, laundry, screened in porch, etc. It's so close to Murrells Inlet and only a short drive to the beach. The outdoor pool area and grills are also nice. We will keep staying here.
"Nothing fancy, but clean and friendly"
We stayed in a one bedroom unit. The unit wasnt granite or jet tubs, but it was clean. We had everything we needed including a screened in patio to enjoy coffee. The people were very friendly and helpful. I would go back in a heartbeat!
"We r having a blast"
Great Golf course! Everyone very friendly & Maintenance people are very prompt & responsive, the staff has been very helpful in all ways. Even Margie at the Golf bar was so sweet, she made us Amazing Club sandwich's after our round of Gold!
"Murrel's Inlet Ellington"
All and all this was a nice property and facilities. The staff were friendly and accomodating. The unit we were in had smaller bathrooms which was a disappointment but the rest of the unit was very pretty and well maintained. The pool and grounds were clean and easy to access. The golf course is also lovely. We appreciated the beach pass we were given to the state park as it came in very handy. We would probably try to stay at one of the beachfront timeshares next time but cannot complain at all about the location or property. If we do we would ask for the Phase II property as we viewed those on our previous tour and they were more spacious and finished out a little bit nicer. I would recommend this property to my friends.
"Loved Our Vacation Getaway!"
This was our second stay, our first was in May 2013, we were so impressed that my husband and I came back for our summer vacation! The accommodations were outstanding, the resort & staff met our every expectation! The staff were very friendly, willing to answer questions. It is probably one of our very BEST Vacations and will definitely be back! I'm just sorry our vacation is over!
"Really enjoyed our visit and the accommodations next year GOLF!!"
Cant wait to go back , first class accommodation, on a first class golf course , next to the ocean and fabulous restaurants and shopping , we will spend a couple of months next time for sure... try it you will love it .....
"Will be back next summer!!!!"
I was overwhelmed with the warmth and helpfulness of the staff. The pics online do not this place any justice. The kids loved the activities from swimming, putt, putt golf and the crafts. The overall best part was personal access to the private beach literally 2 minutes down the street. Mr. Melborne was absolutely too sweet to work with also. Will be planning next summers get away soon.
"Great Family Experience"
Vacationed here with son's family, including 2 grandchildren. Facilities were 1st class. Grandchildren loved the daily crafts. Golf course was great and several other good area courses available at reduced fees. We prefer Murrells Inlet to Myrtle beach because of less traffic and access to nearby Huntington Beach State Park (easier access and less crowded than Myrtle Beach).
