What Our Customers Are Saying

Written Review

"Nice three star aparthotel."
My second time to stay in Hovima Santa Maria aparthotel. Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast very good and evening meal quite ok. Checking in and out was fast and efficient and staff were very friendly. A special thanks to Carlos at reception. He was super and so friendly and helpful. Hotel is near the beach and handy for shopping. Plenty of taxis outside.
"Good"
Went here last year and happily coming back this years nice rooms make sure u don't get one down low also the restraint is nice and the view from pool is lovely all staff. Nice and friendly supermarket 2 mins away and also the beach is on,ply about a 4 to 5 minute walk
"Still the best !"
Returned to this hotel for second time , this time doing half board. I found the food choices for every meal amazing , and the quality and quantity were superb , this has surely got to be amongst the best self service dining I have ever seen ! The spotlessly clean rooms , hotel and surrounds are a pleasure , I had a lovely apartment , with lounge , kitchen bedroom and bathroom , linen changed daily and nothing too much trouble for the charming staff. The evening entertainment and pool /sports etc. seemed much better than last year , but personally I enjoyed going to outside entertainment in the evenings .They did a beautiful floral display in the Foyer for Valentines day , which many couples took advantage of to take their romantic photos ! Was very nice and very thoughtful . Free wi-fi in reception area , but small charge for connection in other areas . Hotel is in an area amongst plenty of shops , bars , restaurants and all amenities ,good entertainment close by , yet rooms are very quiet and sound is not a problem. Also just a few minutes walk takes you to beaches, harbour and all sea front shops, bars and restaurants , so couldnt be better situated. Nice clean pools , but you have to be up early to get towels out on sunbeds ( he he ) as tend to be all reserved ! Only drawback is slope leading to entrance and reception , which is quite long and steep ! Would recommend with confidence , lovely stay .
"Brilliant 3 Star Hotel"
This is the second time my friend and I have stayed at this hotel. We were half board in January 2015 and it is reasonably priced, we really enjoy coming here. The staff are very friendly, the food is good for a 3 Star, and the hotel is in a very good location. We will definitely be back.
"January break"
My wife and I booked this hotel via Jet2 after seeing an ad on another web site. The price was reasonable and we payed a little extra for a sea view. The Jet2 operation was as usual hassle free with good leg room on the plane for my long legs. Big delay on return, for a tragic reason, but, great job by Jet2 in keeping us fully informed, and distribution of meal vouchers. The best performance of any carrier we have encountered in similar circumstances - well done. Check in at the hotel was quick. friendly and efficient, staff were great. We were on the 7th (top) floor ( apt. 780 ) and we were told we had a solarium. This we found was a full hotel width deck with privacy for the 10 apartments on this floor. More upmarket sunbeds for all, and views to sea and mountains. If you are a sun worshipper, try to get a transfer to this floor!! The apartment was spacious, well equipped and absolutely spotless. It had a small kitchenette, or whatever they call the nowadays with everything that may be needed. Good clean bathroom and a comfortable bedroom with just about adequate storage and a hair dryer. The housekeeping team were excellent and maintained the apartment in it's spotless condition. We didn't use many of the hotel's leisure programs,( tried boules and table tennis) but it did appear the there was plenty to do with tennis courts, a large pool etc. We had a b&b package, and the breakfast choice was very good, a wide range of hot and cold options with plenty of fruit available. Getting a table could sometimes be a problem, but if a build up appeared the friendly and efficient staff quickly swung into action and directed people to seats. Timing seems to be important here. All through the hotel the staff were first class, from reception, restraunt, housekeeping to gardeners, all were pleasant , friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble. We will have no problem with using the Santa Maria again, and would recommend it to anyone.
"Great family hotel"
We stayed here for 8 nights half board in half term, late Oct / early Nov, in a 2 bedroom sea view apartment. As there were 4 of us (including 2 teenage kids) the extra space was well worth it for the relatively small difference in price - booked via Alpha Rooms. Huge panoramic balcony too - good for watching the world go by in the evening! No aircon (but knew this when we booked) - ceiling fans were very welcome though. Room overall was great - furnishings a bit basic but had everything we needed. With staying half board we enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the hotel everyday. We were not sure what to expect but were quite happy with the standard of food & choice. Brit tip - take your own tea bags, the local supply is never great! Chose to sit outside in the patio area each morning....a little calmer and quieter than being close to the buffet breakfast hustle and bustle. The selection each evening was good and varied (better than breakfast) with a theme each day. Bottle of house wine a bargain at about 7 euros too. We found the staff friendly too - even though they were clearly quite hard worked. We didn't spend much time at the pool - quite small and the sun bed monsters are up very early with their towels (many of which remain there unoccupied most of the day). We elected to avoid that irritation each day and instead visited the beaches nearby which were excellent....only a 5/10 minute walk. We used the tennis court at the hotel too which was good fun. All in all, a great holiday and I'd recommend the Santa Maria as a very good family hotel.
"Great family hotel"
Be aware there is no air con, having a 17month old baby was awful. Apart from this we stayed for Halloween and they took the children door knocking and fancy dress, didn't see much other evening entertainment. We was half board and food was ok pretty standard for a 3star, but in a good location for beach just down road and bus to Los christanos etc up cardiac hill, (even i struggled)!! Would stay again
"Great Value"
Stayed here last year for 3 days due to a mess up with timeshare dates. Studio apartment ground floor very clean nice bathroom TV was pay per view but there again I don't go on holiday to sit and watch TV Bed not as comfy as the timeshare but was more than decent. Check in was fast and all good and breakfast was included in the price and a great selection of many international food types. All in all I'd go back again and found it great value for money an located in a decent part of Tenerife.
"January sun"
We stayed in the Santa Maria in mid jan 2015 and were bed and breakfast. We booked an econmy room and found ourselves under ground, but this is what we expected, room was big two bed for me and wifey. If you want a room above ground with a view you need to book a standard all ground floor and a superior room to be higher up. The breakfast was great loads of choice, and all the staff were very help full. Places to eat The place 2b (lunch), Milhany's, peaking palace, Sun Inn. Places to Drink, The place 2b, Blue Cactus great live band, Milhanys, Amanda's live entertainment, St Eugenes bar Phil from 08.00 - 21.30 singer guitar brill and then more live acts and the blues brothers are outstanding.
"She say`s good,"
Second visit here, studio this time, plenty of room you could swing a few cats around in it. Breakfast was good plenty of variety had to wait a few times for eggs but it gave you time to put you bread in again to get toast. Poster of traffic lights in lifts gave you a good idea when to go to dining room. Visited some of the bars and restaurants we have been to before even found the new Vista Al Mar (see vista al mar reborn). We are definately putting this place top of our list for next january, possibly even later this year. Since I have used Hovima Hotels, we have enjoyed our holidays more, we recommend here and Panorama. If she say`s it`s good you cannot get much better.
"Christmas in the sun"
Second time at this hotel and we were half board plus over Christmas and New Year. Breakfast is always good with a vast variety to suit all nationalities. Evening meals again are varied and lots of food but if your not a fish lover bed and breakfast probably best option. Gala dinners are a lavish affair but again lots of fish. Hotel is centrally situated close to beach restaurants and shops all reasonably priced so self catering always an option. Staff are friendly and helpful. Beware rooms on ground level whilst getting sun all day you will need to endure Amanda's downstairs til late!!!! Overall good value for money.
"Great value for money and highly recommended"
Just returned from a 10 night break with my husband and 2 year old daughter. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I booked the promo room no view and was a little worried after reading the reviews but the room was lovely. A little narrow but lovely freshly decorated and spotlessly clean. We were in room 82, ground level facing the tennis courts. My only quibble would be the lack of air con, ok in winter months but I think would be unbearable in the summer months. The safe was free of charge and we requested a fan which came instantly free of charge for the full stay. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. I forgot to take iron so had to use hotels, left a 10e deposit for an hour or 2 and got it back wen I returned iron. Breakfast was good for a b&b package,a little repetitive by the end but that's how all hotel food is. Never went to pool always the beach but walked round and couldn't see many sunbeds free. Great location and paid a great price. Highly recommended
"Nice stay at the Hovima Santa Maria"
A nice break to Tenerife back in December. We were given a huge room at first but there were workers operating on the rosd outside with drills so we asked to be moved and the reception staff were very helpful. The room we had originally was really nice. Huge it was. The room we were moved to was a bit smaller but still nice. Balcony overlooking the pool was nice and very private with a great view. Beds were comfortable. Had everything kitchen appliance wise from kettle to microwave to toaster to hobs. Had a flat screen TV. Dining area. Pretty much everything wanted when having a break away. Food was not too bad. There were variations most nights and I never got bored of the food. One night there was a chef outside cooking steaks, sausages and chicken which was brilliant and I really enjoyed. Only thing was the dining area is quite small so at peak time it was quite cramped with lots of people up for their foods at the same time. Really enjoyed the stay at the Hovima Santa Maria and will be back soon or will try out the Hovima La Pinta or Costa Adeje.
"good value"
Stayed 16th to 26th Dec allocated room in "basement" down 3 flights of steps and a view of a brick wall" we asked to be moved which they did at a cost. It appears Thos Cook buy the cheaper rooms. We finished up in 470 with a view of tennis court and partial sea view. We had sun all day we were HB but the rooms are SC with fridge TV etc. Bed was quite comfy. The rooms facing the pool are the best. Food was quite good and plentiful although the dining room did get very busy at certain times. Sun beds got snapped up quickly we used the patio on the annexe. Entertainment not very good but there are plenty of bars with entertainment close by. One drawback was the slope off the road to the hotel entrance not too good for disabled. Hotel is close to harbour and sea front. The hotel did a splendid buffet on christmas night. Cant understand why some people criticise the food we found it perfectly OK but then we arent picky For the price we paid for 10 days we considered it good value
"Good value for money"
Basic three star hotel, food ok but repetitive. Need to get down to put your towels on the sunbeds before 8am or they will all have been taken. Great views of pool and sea ( we had sun all day), or mountains for the rooms facing the back.
"Great location hotel"
I have been to this hotel many times over the last 25 years.I brought my children here when they were little. We are now retired and have just returned from a weeks holiday. We always went room only wishing to eat out every day.We went bed and breakfast this time we found the food to be very good buffet service but found it strange the plates were very small but you could help youself as many times as you liked. The location of the hotel is excellent close to pubs ,restaurants, shops and 5 mins to the beach. The hotel has entertainment for children and adults day and night. It has 3 pools which are supervised by a lifeguard. There is a taxi rank 100 meters from the reception the Siam Park is 5 mins away. The staff can speak many languages and are most helpful and friendly. There is 8 floors and never a problem with the lifts. The rooms a large enough we stay in a studio appartment and find it well equiped and comfortable..Will return very soon.
"lovely holiday"
we hired a private apartment in this hotel, the apartment was just like a home from home everything you would ever need was supplied, the hotel its shelf was very clean and the maids were always pleasent.the pool area got abit crowded some were getting up at 6.30 just to reserve sunbeds, this did not bother us if we could not get a bed we just took the short walk to the beach it costs 5 euros for a bed.the hotel is in a excellent position for all the bars and restaurants.we have been coming to costa adeje for 18 years and i would stay at this hotel again.
"Excellent attention from hotel staff"
Even though we arrived a little early, we were immediately allocated a room on the 5th floor which had amazing views. The room was immaculately cleaned and had everything we needed. On the day prior to our departure my husband was admitted to hospital in Las Americas. The staff at the hotel were unbelievably helpful in extending my stay and ensuring that I did not have to move rooms. In total I had to extend my stay four times and couldn't have asked for kinder or nicer staff. I am and will remain extremely grateful to all the fantastic staff at the Santa Maria.
"Does what it says on the tin!!"
Stayed for nine nights with hubbi and two kids.hotel room we had was very spacious but on the lower floor which meant that there was no view etc.however being a family that likes to get out and about we used the hotel as a base to sleep and shower.therefore spending time watching TV and having to moan about lack of English channels is not one of our concerns.........when in Rome do as the Romans do which means having fun, getting out on the beach and having a couple of nice meals and drinks in the bars and restaurants around. In this respect the room for us was great.......lots of space, great shower and a nice large balcony. Cleaned five times a week . We were bed and breakfast and the choice and selection was fine although some of the other guests had issues with manners and social interactions but this was quite amusing as some people forget what holidays are about!!!! if you are self catering, the room had everything you need with pots pants tea towels etc. location is spot on and lots of little bars and eating places around and everything is very very cheap..... Beer 1 euro etc and meals as cheap or expensive as you like. Beaches great, weather fantastic an hotel served it's purpose and was fine by us but if you want five star but want to pay for three star then you will find faults but personally I feel it ticked most boxes!!!!!
"Great holiday"
Had a lovely week here in September, excellent location. Studio apartment exactly as described.we stayed half board plus and the food, service and staff were excellent. Very polite and friendly, very clean. We would definitely return to the Santa Maria
"great hotel great location"
just returned from santa maria after spending a week for the second time to this hotel.any one visiting this hotel will not be disapointed as it is in a great location and the hotel food is good too.the staff could do with a bit perking up but got on with our own thing.must visit the behive pub under the hotel if you want a sing song or just a drink staff are friendly will be visiting costa adeje again but going to try another hotel but dont let this put you off the hotel is good just our choice.
"Good no gripes"
Stayed for a week half board great area for bars restaurants n entertainment hotel wise some of the staff miserable lets the place down everything else food room etc good oh be careful found a live insect in my salad at the Harley's restaurant staggered outside and threw up in front of diners sat in cars outside! Shocking.
"Santa Maria"
Just returned from our 2nd stay at Santa Maria hotel this year, just 1 annoying gripe, the miserable older woman on reception really needs to improve her customer service skills, she was the same in March aswell, the first person you see is the reception and when they are not very welcoming it can put you off.....anyway that was the only negative, the hotel is very clean, always a sun bed available despite the hotel being busy, only went B&B so can't comment on food, location is fab,Place 2 B pub at bottom of hill is cheap and cheerful aswell.Don't go for the promo studio though as you'll probably end up downstairs, still not too bad though. We ended up overlooking the Main Street where on the Friday morning we was woken up by people on a striking demo just outside the hotel,2 days we had this but didn't spoil anything.Would return to the Santa Maria definitely.
"santa maria costa adeje"
hi here i am again just come back from good old reefy stayed at santa maria yet again !!!!! i love this hotel stayed half board this time was pretty good lots to choose from ,but must admit we love eating out , ghandis indian underneath hotel is fab and staff are lovely as they are in the santa maria i should have shares in this hotel by now . have not put any photos on as shamefully didnt take any this time but think there are some pictures in my last reviews
"location ,location,location"
Fab. location for beach, bars and shops. Very clean in all areas. All staff were friendly and helpful.Studio apartment with all mod cons- fridge, microwave, flat screen t.v. with lots of English channels. Food - good selection at breakfast and dinner. Needs to have air con. as only had a ceiling fan over bed area. Pool area is quite small but we could always find sunbeds. 5 minutes stroll away from beach with bars, shops on doorstep.Recommended.
"santa maria"
we had a great time just the two of us the hotel was great food was good, had some great night out at the harley bad .the only thing that let the hotel down was lack of entertainment but would recomend this hotel will be going back soon.
"good"
We came back 2 days ago after 10 days stay. Reception man was very rude because we hadn't printed out confirmation. As we opened our studio room we were very pleased. Room was very clean and spacious. There was no air con so the 1st night was unstandable. We had full board, quite good variety food but it was cold many times. Staff friendly, but one night at the dinner my partner was stopped by the lady who said he can't enter wearing the vest so he must go back to the room and change. The other 2 nights we have seen guys wearing vests at the dinner. That was not nice, treating the people not equal. The location is great, close to the beach. We walked few times to el Duque beach 20-25 minutes but worth it. Pool is small as for the big hotel but always a free lounge to take and not many people swimming. Siam park is a must. They open at 10a.m so go at this time because later there're queues everywhere Nice nights out drinking sangria or cocktails, and live music. Also the same reception guy, when day before we went there to ask what time is our bus to the airport and where from, he tossed us a piece of paper and told to find our surnames , when we asked where the bus is going to stop he said just outside the hotel. It was not true, we were waiting in the wrong place and had to run when we noticed the bus. Generally nice stay
"Great holiday, definitely go again."
Amazingly clean hotel! 5 stars across the board, my only gripe was the fan in the bedroom was too slow and had to hire one but no biggy, still would go back in a heartbeat, great staff great location.
