    What Our Customers Are Saying

    Written Review

    "Vallarta vacation"
Family vacation through govvacations was a blast. We stayed at the Mayan Palace after staying in the Mayan Palace in Playa Del Carmen. This property is much smaller and intimate and there is only one restaurant on the grounds. The maintenance and up keep of the property is excellent and the beach is good for swimming also (unlike Playa Del Carmen). You are able to walk in both directions of the beach with out any constraint, there is an incredible view of the mountains form the resort on clear days. The water is beautiful. The service was excellent, we exchanged dollars for pesos as needed because you are able to get to several locations by bus or taxi. Took a bus ride to Wal Mart to stock up on food for snacking, it cost us about $3. We took taxis to Downtown & Old Downtown with out any hassle. As always there is the push for timeshare presentations, to avoid we firmly say no upon check in and do not waver, after the first day we are not asked again. Our room view was of the street and had a balcony but we spent very little time in the room. If you can get a ocean view I am sure it would be well worth it.
"Fan of the Grand Mayan and Mexico!!"
I was never drawn to Mexico and was always a Hawaii girl but after the birth of our child and a must need vacation; I some how was convinced to go to the Grand Mayan with family. Several members have time share so it was the most economical option for this first time mom. We went in June and the weather was perfect. I won't go into the details of the airport to the hotel as many have covered that so straight to the resort review it is... The grounds are huge! Very beautiful but you need a shuttle to get to and from most places in the resort. We stayed in a 2-bedroom suite for 2 families and it was prefect. The kitchen is lovely and the view we had (pool/ocean) was perfect. The staff is amazing, they go above and beyond and treat you like family. We never had an issue with room service, house keeping or with the staff at the pool and restaurants, everyone is super accommodating. After staying in Hawaii every year for vacations at 5-star resorts, I can highly recommend the Grand Mayan as a place we will be visiting again. It is very family friendly, the kids pool and activity center is great-- the center wasn't open to full schedule as it would during peak seasons but was nice to have that option. The kids pool is a good size, not too big and has plenty for babies to toddlers to do while parents can lounge by the pool and it's close to a restaurant for food and drinks. The lazy river wasn't working when we went, they were doing maintenance so that was the only really down side to our trip. I highly recommend going to Wal-Mart as it's a short cab ride and stock up on drinks, food and snacks, that was a life saver for breakfast with hungry kids (and adults) and we stocked up on alcohol which helped with the costly drinks that can add up pool side. All in all, we will be back! It is a wonderful resort, as nice as any 5-star resort in Hawaii. I'm sold! :)
    "Very Nice Resort"
The rooms are nice and the amenities of the resort are what you would expect from the Mayan Palace. We stayed in the front building in a room that faced the street. There you could not hear any street noise and a benefit was you could pick up the free wifi signal from the restaurant across the street. The downside is it is quite a long walk to the pool and beach, but that helps you walk off all the good food and drink.
    "Staff so friendly!"
We had a wonderful experience here. We stayed a week. They gave us a room overlooking the marina and thought we would do a timeshare presentation to get a better room overlooking the ocean. We didn't care and didn't want to do the presentation. So we stayed in our room, which was fine except some nights you could hear loud music from the marina. The staff there all go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. Norma at the Joy Squad spoke both Spanish and English and was such a sweet girl. She helped by explaining things we didn't understand and was just a good friend to us while we were there. She's sweet and kind. She had promised to help us make a craft and even when she wasn't feeling well, she was worried about not letting us down. Norma, you will be remembered and we wish you well!
"Very comfortable hotel, clean and accommodating"
We stayed at the Mayan Palace June 11-18th. The staff was amazing in every aspect. Our room was very nice, clean and quiet. We never saw any of the time share people others refer to in reading reviews. Will most definitely go back.
    "A beautiful place to stay."
Everything about this place is mighty impressive. The entrance foyer is a work of art in itself. The pool is enormous, the suites are superb and the restaurants are excellent. Our stay here was very memorable.
    "I miss it already"
My family and I stayed here for about a week and it was such a great experience from check in to check out. The staff are all very friendly and everyone is ready to offer their help and advice. The rooms are equipped with a little kitchenette and stocked with utensils for cooking for dining in your room. The hotel houses two pools -one with a bar and restaurant, a decent sized gym that never seems to be full, two souvenir shops, a private beach, and a buffet which was kind of expensive. I definitely recommend booking here if you enjoy the cozy, family friendly feel. They do have another location north of the Marina location, although I think taking a golf cart to get just about everywhere would get annoying and tedious especially in the humid heat.
"Relaxing Resort with great views of the harbor."
This resort is close to the Marina and town. Being close allows for walking to the Marina and a short taxi or bus ride to town. Many great restaurants are located in the Marina. The staff at the resort is great. They are very friendly and helpful. The beach at the resort is small. Swimming is good and watching people parachute sailing (?) is fun. The beach in both directions is open so a person can enjoy walking the beach and talking with other guests in the area.
    "Gorgeous property"
My mother, sister and I stayed at this resort for 6 days / 5 nights. The property is stunning. Many of the photos I took, my friends thought were fake because it is so well tended. The restaurants on the property are wonderful and many require reservations. The prices are higher than typical, but as expected for a location as this. We were pulled into the sales pitch which ended up being about 5-6 hours (though per usual they claim it to be 1-2 hours). The pitch seemed never ending since multiple people would continue to sell for various prices. Definitely less intense than typical timeshare presentations. The benefits of ruining a day? Got 15% of restaurants on the resort, taxi to the airport, and a discount on a massage. Not too bad. This trip cost us a fortune, but was enjoyable. The room itself was incredible with a porch/outdoor pool and 2 jacuzzis within.
    "Excellent staff"
The Activities Staff, "JOY", created activities for the adults and children visiting this great vacation spot. A big thank you to AB, Carmen, Milto, Norma and Alan for making our vacation a lot of fun. Mayan Palace on the Marina is a great place located on the beach and they also provide restaurants on site.
    "Great location and convenience"
We needed a place to escape and unwind and so we exchange with RCI to stay at this resort. Since it was our first time in Puerto Vallarta, we were expecting a few glitches here and there, but surprisingly, everything went very well during our stay. It is located on a street with other resort hotels like Westin, Hilton, Crown Paradise, Krystal, Hacienda Resort on the left and on the right are Vamar, Melia PV, Marriott and Velas. All of them have their own beach properties which are accessible to everyone. A morning or afternoon beach walk is recommended. Most of the daily activities can be booked around the area and the Marina is just across the street for shopping or dining. For a dollar, a couple can take the bus across the street and explore the downtown all day. Lots of locals, tourists and foreign residents walking, touring and shopping everywhere around the city so safety is of no concern. Internet is readily available on most of the eating places around the resorts for free,
"We loved Puerto Vallarta and enjoyed the Mayan Palace"
We just returned from the Mayan Palace. We expected a big sales pitch, but the staff was very kind and respectful of our simple "no thank you." The staff was amazing, the dinners at Bakal were incredible and Yolanda cleaned our room like an angel. We will return to the Mayan Palace; the location is perfect and the pool, beach and 2 for 1 happy hours are amazing!!
    "Had a great time"
We had a great stay! It is beautiful but not too big which is what we loved! Everything is nearby, pool and beach are great, very well maintained! Food at the poolside bar and restaurant is great. The wait staff at the restaurants is wonderful! If you are looking for a big expansive resort this is not the place but if you want a beautiful, quite but active stay this is the perfect spot. Being able to walk to the marina for great food is a huge plus! Say no to timeshare breakfast!!!
    "Always a great stay"
Have visited this resort 3 times and always enjoy it. It is smaller than most in the Vidanta group, a factor that most guests say draws them there. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Grounds are lovely. Staff are very helpful, especially Brando at the front desk.
    "Great hotel"
This is a very nice place to stay. We were there during off-season so it wasn't very crowded. The rooms are very nice and the staff is very friendly and helpful. If you get roped into attending the "1 hour " presentation for the Grand Mayan just keep in mind that it will really be about 4 hours. We did it because we got 3,000 pesos off an excursion and 10% off of our bill. We also got a very nice breakfast and got to spend the day at the Grand Mayan. The beach at the Mayan Palace is not great but the pools are very nice. They have a great little Sunset bar where you can actually lie down on couches big enough to be beds and watch the sunset as you sip your cocktails. The Mayan Palace is in the marina where there are lots of restaurants if you don't want to go into the city. The city is a quick cab ride from the hotel. It was really fun to walk the Malecon. I would definitely stay at the Mayan Palace again!
"Beautiful resort, thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family"
This was our first time using our RCI points to book a resort stay and I was a bit nervous, but couldn't have been happier with this resort! The entrance is grand and impressive and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The pool is steps away from the private beach area. We were in the tower closest to the beach with a beach view. We had a 1 bedroom for our family of 4, but it worked out great for us. Each of our kids slept on the couch/beds in the main living area and were very comfortable. It was very spacious for the 4 of us and was very clean. We got some groceries and used the kitchenette sometimes. The restaurant there was also great and we took advantage of the 2 for 1 buffets whenever it fit into our schedule. I loved this location - close to the marina. We walked to the marina for some Vallarta Adventures activities and also for restaurants.
    "Beautiful resort at Marina"
This is a lovely resort on the beach at the marina. Rooms were great, beach was clean and no need to get up early for chairs, The staff was excellent. Erika, Consuelo, and Brando were so helpful and friendly at the front desk. Edelmira, our housekeeper, was very pleasant and did a lovely job in our room every day. We wish that we could take her home with us!!! David, the bellboy, gave us great suggestions for restaurants to try off the resort. Thanks David, they were all good.
    "Small but Nice"
We have been to several Of the Mayan Palaces. Puerto Vallarta Marina is a small, and possibly older, resort in this chain. On the plus side, our room was close to the pool (no lazy river like at Nueva Vallarta), and the pool was close to the beach. The beach is also small but very nice. To us, the restaurants are all the same on all Mayan Palace properties so that is inconsequential to us. We walked every day and enjoyed that we could get off property. As we walked, we passed by many restaurants and shops. Some of the Mayan Palaces are in the middle of nowhere. We were here to relax and planned no activities. We went to the pool and/or beach and played cards. There are a couple English channels so we watched some movies. My husband was in a poker tournament every day that didn't cost anything to play. He won some drinks tickets. We also bought some meal coupons since we planned on eating every meal here. Our package (x2) had coupons for six breakfast buffets and six lunches or dinners. Everyone on the property was very nice. You can buy wi-fi which reaches everywhere but the beach or you can use it free in the restaurant while you eat. We are going home today but have had a great time.
    "Beautiful facility, gracious service"
The Marina location is perfect, with many shops, restaurants, salons within a short walk. We took the bus into the Malecon area several times. Such a bargain at 7.5 pesos per person! We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with 2 adults and 3 kids----plenty of room for all. The kitchen is small with a dorm-sized fridge, microwave, sink and 2 burner stove which was fine for breakfasts. We were in the pool building and had a nice view of the pool and ocean. We were asked to attend the time share presentation at checkin, but declined without undue pressure. The kids enjoyed the pool-side activities and we had no problem finding pool chairs even during the busy Easter week. We enjoyed the dinner buffets which are a good deal if you go during the 2 for 1 time from 6 to 7 pm. The rest of the time we ate off-site, which is less expensive. We especially enjoyed the friendly and gracious customer service from all employees of the hotel. They all were cheerful and attentive to anything we needed. The coffeemaker in our room wasn't working and they brought a replacement within 5 minutes. We definitely would stay here again. Gracias amigos!
