What Our Customers Are Saying

Written Review

"Friendly Staff in a Quaint Location"
My wife, adult daughter and I stayed at the River Terrace & Convention Center recently and were impressed by the helpfulness of the staff. We drove up from Savannah during a bad storm, that had closed some roads with snow and ice. When we finally arrived, the staff were very helpful and upgraded us to a larger room overlooking the river. The room, although a little dated was clean and comfortable. We were also given undercver parking. The outlook over the river was picture perfect, particularly when it started to snow heavily not long after we arrived. Due to the weather we decided to leave Gatlinburg a day early, in case the roads were closed. The staff refunded our last night's fee without being asked, which is something we did not expect, but greatly appreciated. I would recommend this resort if staying in Gatlinburg.
"Totally enjoyed!"
First of all I read several reviews before I booked with River Terrace. I read bad reviews and good and decided to go ahead and give them a try. Let me tell you for the price I could not have asked for more. The rates were very reasonable for what we got, a king bed (very comfortable), spacious clean room with a fireplace and a balcony that had a very good view of the river and Parkway. The staff was very friendly. On the first morning we placed the "do not disturb" sign on the door because we didn't want our room cleaned that morning. Later on in the day when we returned to our room housekeeping called and asked if we needed anything like fresh towels, more coffee or shampoo, if we did they would bring it right up. Now granted there was noise from other occupants but I'm sure we made a little noise too. After all this is a Hotel, not home. The fireplace was such a nice touch! My next house will be built with a fireplace in the bedroom, we loved it! I really can't say anything bad about the place, we just enjoyed it. The location is perfect everything we went to do was within walking distance. There was plenty of parking at River Terrace so finding parking place was never a problem even if we did decide to drive somewhere. Great Place to stay and very reasonable.
"Very Nice Place and Nice Price"
Every year my family visits Gatlinburg, we always rent a cabin. So when my Fiance and I went there to celebrate our engagement, we wanted to be downtown but still have the view and the nature feel. We got just that! We got a room overlooking the river, and the balcony made you feel like you were right on top of the river. We had a beautiful mountain view and of the space needle. They were ducks in the river every morning that we got to feed. The room and balcony were both very large. We will defiantly stay there again! Loved how close it was to everything downtown and to the National Park!
"Nice Clean Hotel, Perfect Location!"
We stayed here for the night on our road trip. The staff was friendly and the hotel was nice and clean. The room had a beautiful balcony and was quite large. The location is PERFECT, just park the car and spend the day and evening walking around Gatlinburg. I totally recommend this place to stay!
"Winter Festival"
Came here for the winter festival and chili cook off. Prices are good, ask for the special deals they are better. Nice clean room, and yes the room is dated. But for the price not bad. The personal was friendly and helpful, from extra towels or blanket to coffee. One of the best reasons is location, you can open the door and you are in downtown Gatlinburg (open the door and down the hill. Ha.). You can walk and not have to worry about parking. In the room you have mini refrigerator, microwave and coffee marker, oh wife reminded me a hair dryer. To still be so close to downtown, it's quiet. If you call of reservations, ask for the special deals. This is the second time here for us. If you like a nice price and clean rooms, give it a try.
"Very satisfied with our stay!"
We had a room right over the river and could go out on the balcony and feed the ducks. It was an older room, but was very spacious and clean. I will definately go back again! This was the first time we have stayed downtown and it was nice to be able to walk to everything....
"Friendly Service & Location!!!"
We arrived in town around 10:00 am and looking for a place to stay. I did not look at tripadvisor, and glad I didn't this time. Normally I would of looked up the hotel and decide not to stay due to the ranking, Glad we just went in and got a room. Not a fancy place, but clean, friendly service, roomy for 2 people, balcony room, and great LOCATION!!!! You can park your car and just leave it, everything in the downtown is within walking distance and you do not have to fight the traffic. Very nice front desk, let us check in at 10:00 am and then we could be on our way visiting the area on foot.
"Great price in the middle of downtown!!"
The rooms were a little dated but we didnyt come for the rooms. We had a great spot creek side. We loved feeding the ducks daily, & listning to the creek sound was very relaxing. We even had a fireplace!! We will stay here again, we love the location, & we had everything we needed.
"Decent rate and good place to stay"
Enjoyed our stay at this resort. Couple of tips however, if you do not like walking alot or climbing stairs to get to your room, request a room in Duck Terrace I believe it is called. We were a little farther up the hill and the incline is difficult if you have trouble walking. Also be sure to not wear a magnetic bracelet when handling the room key cards as they are easily deactivated. The front desk was patient with resetting our cards a couple of times due to this. The AC works wonderful and the location of the resort in relation to town is great. The front desk staff was very friendly and check in was quick and easy. They do have a Westgate Resort Timeshare person on staff but there is no pressure from them to listen to their promotion. Plan on staying at this resort again.
"Awesome!"
A friend and I stayed here for Labor Day weekend and it was awesome! We arrived early Friday am after being in the car for 10hrs and they let us check into our room early without giving any hassle. The front desk was very polite and even gave us some tips on what to see. The rooms were clean and OMG the a/c works phenomenally! Our room was super cold after being out in the hot sun all day. Very clean and plenty of room for two people. The only complaints we had were, the pool wasnt very clean. We ended up cleaning bugs out of it with the net. Also the showers in the next room were super loud! We could hear every time someone showered and it even woke us up. Otherwise we had no complaints whatsoever. Def will be staying here again! It was soooo close to everything and had a great view!
"Great hotel! Will return again!"
My husband and I just stayed at the River Terrace last weekend and were very impressed. I booked the rooms through a discount company thru my job and was able to get the rooms at 50% off of the normal price! I was hesitant to stay here after reading some of the reviews on here but we were pleased. We arrived for check in around 3:30 pm on Friday afternoon. Within two minutes the staff had us checked in and we were on our way to our room. We stayed in room 6166 on the front side of building six. It was a king room and was very spacious. The bed was comfy even though we did have to request an additional pillow. They only give you two pillows and we each prefer to sleep with two pillows each. The room included a leather couch and armchair as well as a table and two chairs. There was also a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee pot with complimentary coffee. This hotel was very clean. It is also conveniently located just one block off of the main strip. The only downside to this hotel is the lack of a hot tub. There are two outdoor pools but not a hot tub.
"Great location!!!"
This was my second time staying in this hotel. Plan on using every time I go to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. Some of the rooms have a beautiful view. I would recommend the River Tower!!! Only thing that needs to be different is they need to provide a free continental breakfast.
"River view room is excellent"
I am intrigued at some of the reviews that this place has gotten. It seems like some of the rooms are not great and others are really good. My wife and I stayed here in August 2012 and it was GREAT! We had a river view room with a beautiful balcony view! The TV was good, the bed is one of the best we have slept in at a hotel, and again, the view was second to none. We enjoyed watching the ducks swim down the river and all of the fish. I guess that some rooms aren't as great as others but the experience we had was wonderful. The room is a little dark, but if you just open up the curtain to the balcony there is plenty of light. The price is great, especially of you book 21 days in advance and get the 15-25% discount like we did this time, and the location is absolutely spectacular. You just cut through that other hotel's parking lot and you are right smack dab in the middle of the Gatlinburg strip. Overall it was a great stay. Parking was right in front of our front door and we were on the 3rd level. Location, price, view, staff, and comfort were all great. We are going back again and will stay here so I will let you guys know if it is still great!
"amazing stay!!!"
I love this resort!! beautiful and cozy room! a just a walk away from the aquarium and the Mountain Mall and just about any other fun attraction in Gatlinburg!!! staff very friendly and willing to help!!!! I always choose this place to stay when ever im goin to Gatlinburg! :) cant wait to go this july!!!!!! :)
"PattyandMe"
We had an excellent stay in one of the river view rooms. The check in staff were more than just friendly; they bent over backwards to get us in our room a day early and were most helpful in guiding us as to where to eat and places to see in the area. The room was clean, if a little outdated, the linen and towel service/room cleanup was very good. The hotel grounds leave a little to be desired, but we were there to square dance in a ballroom, not in the parking lot. Parking was plentiful, with easy access to the room.
"Great location"
This hotel overall was great. Got there at 3:00 and checked in. Romm was in Hillcrest building which is appropriately name. Room was large and balcony nice. The hotel is one street over from main parkway ona quiet river. Perfect to walk everywhere.
"Great Place, low price, and close to it all"
My family and I spent our spring break at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. Yes, the room is a little out-dated, but if you look past the older decor, you will find that the hotel is clean, inviting, and the employees are very friendly. The best part of all was that you could park your car upon arrival and not have to move it until the day of departure. We had a river view room, which was fabulous and just beautiful. We'll be back. Thank you River Terrace and Westgate for a wonderful experience.
"Spring Break"
Decided to stay here on short notice. Was very pleased with room. Although the hotel is older it was very clean and well maintained. We had a room with a fireplace overlooking the stream. I loved the location. It was within walking ditance to so much.
"Location, Location, Location!!!"
This was our first time in Gatlinburg, and we were lucky to find a winner in this place! You are right next to Ripley's Aquarium, and practically on the strip! The rooms are a little outdated, but the location, & value makes up for that. We will be coming back, and plan on making this our home away from home!
"good place"
we had a very nice stay here.first the room was clean, bathroomwas alsoclean.parking was good we felt safe here.bed slept good.we could walk to all of gatlinburg.will stay here agin.only one bad thing internet didnt work, but they told me at check out it could had ben fixed if i hadask thanks river terrace for a nice place to stay at a good price
"Clean, quiet, better than expected."
Just spent five nights and was very pleased! After reading other reviews, I wasn't sure what this $83 / night room would be like. Opening the door we found a very large room with king bed with sheets that were changed every other day. Clean carpet and bathroom. Maid service was great each day, always fresh towels and cleaned room. Very roomy balcony overlooking the river. Location very central to Gatlinburg parkway. We left our car at motel and walked everywhere.
"Great Hotel"
We have stayed here several times and the rooms are always clean and good service. Our church group just stayed here and I had no complaints at all. Our rooms were clean and no problems. This is a good place to stay for the price and the location. The hotel staff was very nice and took care of us.
"Loved it!!"
I have stayed in Gatlinburg only a few times, but I am amazed how differently people review things. I have read some of the reviews and I can only say for me and my friends it was a positive view. My friends have stayed here before so we knew from there experience to ask for the rooms in the Duck Watch. These rooms are right over the river and the view from the balcony is really great if you are a people watcher or like to watch the critters roam the creek bank. We stayed two nights and really enjoyed our experience. The location is great because you are not in the busy area, but you have access to it with a short walk. It is located right behind the little mall! I have no idea if they have internet service because that is one of the things I wanted to take a break from. The one and only thing I didn't like is that we were told we would have a king size bed and it was two double, but oh well, right! I would definitely book this resort for my next visit.
"Awesome place to stay!"
I recently returned from a trip to Gatlinburg, TN where my aunt and I had the honor of staying at the River Terrace Resort. After reading reviews on here, I was a little skeptical, but decided to keep my reservations thinking we could change them if need be. Boy was I surprised! Yes the room decor is a little dated, but we found the rooms clean, smelling fresh, and the beds were comfortable. The service provided by the hotel was wonderful. You couldn't ask for a better location. The hotel is located beside Ripley's Aquarium, on a the street behind the main strip, so we didn't have any of the "street noise". We were in the perfect location for walking the strip. We could sit on our balcony and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful views. Overall it was a great value and will most definitely plan on staying there again.
"Great View"
We have stayed at the River Terrace several times. Our room this time was a king suite with A jacuzzi tub and a gas fireplace, with a balcony overlooking the river. The room was clean, But the furniture and fixtures were dated and need to be updated. Room was a good value for the Money
"Love this hotel!"
I was orginially booked in another hotel and switched to River Terrace after looking at some of the rooms. Our room was in the building 3 tower, river view. The best place to get a room is the duck watch building, or building 2. The rooms and balconies are huge and the balconies are right over the river. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we had a view of the river as well as River Rd and the back of the stores on the Parkway. This hotel was in walking distance to everything! And the price was perfect. Service was also great and the front desk was very helpful. They also have coin laundry so all of my laundry was done before I went home. Yes, the rooms are older, but very clean. The only downfall to this hotel, and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, was because of the parking. Parking was small and hard to get in and out of, but overall, we plan on staying again. Also, the resturant was closed on our arrival, but opened for the weekend. Jerry was the manager and he was fantastic! We wanted to take him home with us! Food was a little pricey, but very good!
"Great location"
We just stayed at this hotel for our second time and we have no real complaints. Yes, it's an older hotel, but when we have stayed it has always been clean. The employees are nice, the water pressure is good, and the room is comfortable. The real draw here is the location. For the price, it's just about the best in town. You can walk across the bridge at the main entrance, cross the street and you are at the back of the Mountain Mall. We will stay a third time when we go back.
"Will stay here again"
Very pleased with our stay. Rooms are a little dated, but colors of decor are nice. People should remember that Gatlinburg is an old town, and most of the hotels were built several years ago. The Rooms are very spacious, very clean, and beds were comfortable. No spiders, bugs, etc. Carpets and linens were clean. We had a nice view of the mountains. Staff were friendly and accomodating. Couldn't beat the price...booked through Expedia using AARP membership. It's in the hub of Gatlinburg, so the parkway is close. The restaurant is nice as well. It's hilly, but the name should alert everyone....the buildings are terraced. We will definitely stay here again.
