Shem Creek Inn Is Located Across The Harbor From Charleston

Kick Start Your Day With Their Complimentary Continental Breakfast

Front Row On The Waterfront

First time here and was very impressed with the attention to making their remodel look bright and inviting. The open air feeling of the main lobby and reception area do a lot to bring in the pool as well as Shem Creek which is located within footsteps of the Inn. Bright and clean bathrooms, plenty of water pressure. Keurig and microwave as well as a nice fridge in the room make for being able to take care of the basics. Located within a few hundred feet of multiple restaurants with bars which are all nicely lit up and active in the evenings. All the staff at the Inn are most helpful. Housekeeping makes everything look clean and fresh as the day you arrive. The boardwalk system wanders along the creek as well as through the tranquil saltmarsh located a few hundred feet away where you can see wildlife, watch people fish and crab and see many bots coming and going in the creek. Charter fishing is also available right there. The Inn serves not only those looking to stay off the beaten path with great amenities, but is also only a very short drive into downtown Charleston. The best of both. Whether your room is

We just finished a week vacation at the Grand Sirenis. We booked through BookVIP and I have to say that I'm extremely pleased with the entire trip, all the way from booking through the conclusion of the trip. We got a phenomenal deal and had an excellent trip!

"Nice Stay"
This hotel - on the small size, lacks nothing when it comes to hospitality. Everyone at the 'front desk' - really just a small desk, was friendly and very accommodating. The hotel is only 3 stories, not a lot of rooms and every room had a balcony with sliding glass doors. (Parking on the ground floor, under the hotel, put the 1st floor one story up. And one side of the hotel faces the water - nice view. Upon check-in we were offered a beverage of choice and as the weather turned cooler they were quick to fill our request for an extra blanket. Lobby has a pleasant seating area and the free breakfast offered hot eggs and bacon, yogurt, breads, juice and a kreig machine. Nice boardwalk through the marsh begins out front and there are 3+ restaurants surrounding the hotel. All within a 10 min. drive to downtown Charleston
"Amber is the best If booking was an experience then the stay should be amazing!"
If booking was an experience then the stay should be amazing! Im not sure how many resorts get reviews before they actually stay at a location, but if the stay is 1/2 as "Pleasant" as the customer service & willingness to go beyond to make sure our stay is an experience, then I can't wait to visit again already. Amber (I believe her name was) insured just that. Looking forward to a great stay at this unique Inn with Resort level customer service.
"Newly renovated 2017 but still Nostalgic location near historic shrimp boat docks"
I had a very pleasant 2 night stay. Great location about a mile from rte 17 and 526 but with wonderful views that would make you think you are miles from a freeway. 4 or 5 reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. One connected/right next door has great happy hour prices on both food and drinks. There are two sides to the hotel, one faces the creek and the other the parking lot/marsh. If you end up on the lower priced parking side ask for second floor higher number 211? 213 room for the most pleasant view of the natural marsh (1st floor you will see more of the parking lot. 203 205 207 ... view partially obstructed by awning and a tree. Looking out from the lobby to the parking lot ask for a room the left of the elevator (West? side) facing. Creek side as well the wing opposite the restaurant will probably be quieter and more nostalgic view of the shrimp boats (you are far enough away not to smell them) with better views from the 2nd floor, but as I recall possibly walkout access to the pool from the 1st floor rooms without going through the lobby? My understanding is that there was major renovations and improved changes to the public/lobby and breakfast areas. The rooms were mostly cosmetic, fresh paint, carpet and new furnishings including a new VERY comfortable king bed. The tiled easy step in glass door shower stalls may have been new but the sink vanity was not. The hotel is also otherwise very mobility and wheelchair friendly with an elevator from the fairly secure parking area underneath and up to each floor. There are steps from the lobby down to the pool but there are ramps to the pool from the parking area. It was a large pool long enough to do laps in (maybe half olympic length) nice deck and views of the creek and docks. Every room has its own patio access through sliding glass with 2 plastic chairs and a table. 1st floor still 1 floor up overtop parking and very secure. They also offered a very complete HOT breakfast (eggs and bacon) as well as croissants, mini muffins, english muffins, cereal, fruit etc. A [State or municipal] park borders the property with boardwalks over the marshes and to the docks and the main harbor. Historical and ecological informational placards along the walkway. 2 doors down there are kayak rentals. (As well as a seafood market). So this could be a perfect spot for a couple days without having to get in the car for anything. Whether a romantic couple or a family with kids - recreational and educational opportunities right there and it felt like a very safe area.
"Really enjoyed our stay - hope to return for more fun on †Shem‡ †Creek‡"
The staff was friendly, the location is perfect, the rooms were clean, and the price is reasonable - considering it's Charleston. The Shem creek area is a very chill location in Mt. Pleasant, minutes from Sullivan's island beach and downtown Charleston, but the whole area feels like it's own relaxing coastal town. The restaurants are pretty good, and the shem creek park is lovely. The hotel is well maintained. The breakfast is similar to any continental breakfast at other hotel chains, everything was basic but tasted good. The King room we stayed in had a comfortable bed, plenty of space for our belongings and a great shower. I would have enjoyed the balcony more if the furniture had been a bit larger and plusher, but overall no complaints.

The best of both. Whether your room is creekside for great views of sunrises, the pool and the creek lined with boats and restaurants or the marshside where you see beautiful sunsets and an overview of the expansive salt marsh, you can not go wrong with a stay at Shem Creek! Highly recommended for R&R.

"Great first impression"
Amber checked us in, very friendly, very informative on local places to go. Definitely would stay here again. Rooms look great, thanks amber on being so nice. Great finding southern hospitality. Can not wait to return
"GREAT LOCATION AND VALUE"
Only 15 minutes from downtown Charleston, situated by a marsh and boardwalk, and I got a great price by visiting during the week vs. weekend. It is not a 5-star hotel, but it is clean and nice. They could use signs in the room to explain quirky things like the sinks do not have drain levels so you need to press down on the drain itself for it to open and close. Another quirk: for the TV remotes to work, we had to find a wire with a very small receiver that was dangling behind the TV that needed to be in front of it for the remote to work. Simple signs would assist patrons with these issues, and we were told we weren't the first to call with puzzlement.
"Bright, casual, clean with friendly staff."
We enjoyed our one night stay here. I had been looking for someplace to stay that was reasonably priced for out last night in the Charleston area and Im so glad we found Shem Creek Inn! The woman that checked us in, Amber, was very friendly and efficient.
"Greeted with a beer.."
Amber at the front desk was super friendly, welcomed my wife and I with a beer while we held our overly tired crying toddler, what more could you ask for? ! Well-kept modern accommodations with a laid back southern beach feel a great value compared to in Charleston stays. Parallel to a beach boardwalk and adjacent to a fun shrimpboat port with plenty of eats options and minutes away from downtown.
"First time and not gonna be the last"
From the minute we got there till the time we checked out, the Shem Creek Inn was amazing. Complimentary beverage at check in was awesome! Breakfast was great, we sat and looked out over the pool while eating. The views of Shem creek and marsh are breathtaking! We had to call the front desk to get assistance with the tv, and had someone knocking at our door to help within minutes! Restaurants within walking distance was also a plus.
"Great Front Desk Service"
Apart from the clean room and location of the hotel with its beautiful view of the creek, this review is specifically for the front desk service we received. Amber provided exceptional service from beginning to end. She was very approachable, friendly and accommodating. We were from out of town, but Amber made us feel at home. She recommended some great local places for entertainment and to grab food and drinks. The cherry on top was the complimentary drinks and food voucher she provided to us. 5 star service for Amber and Shem Creek Inn!
"Perfect for a stay by water yet close to visiting Savannah."
We loved this inn from the room watching activity by the water, the friendly staff and the ambience of the place. Loved the toiletries in the bathroom. The gentleman at breakfast ( I think his name was Joe!) was a joy!!! Even though the weather was cold I loved being out on the balcony. It was convenient to go into savannah and if we were in this area again we would definitely stay here.
"Girls Trip"
Just returned from staying at the Shem Creek Inn for a weekend girls trip. Great location, just over the bridge into Mount Pleasant. The staff is friendly. And, the hotel is clean and comfortable. One of the most convenient features, is that you can walk about ten steps out the lobby back doors to the Waters Edge restaurant. We visited in February, but could see that the pool was just outside the lobby back doors too, with the beautiful creek in the backdrop.
"beautiful views, clean updated rooms"
My partner and I needed a place to stay after neglecting to book a hotel in Charleston, and ended up on the Hotel Tonight app trying to find something last minute. We were pleasantly surprised with the $90 geo rate, and after looking at the reviews and some photos, we booked it. It was perfect for what we needed. The rooms were clean, the view was lovely, the bathroom and decor was very nicely updated, and even right next to the entrance, the noise wasn't terrible after about 9pm. We will definitely be staying here again.
"Great Location - Great Staff"
Shem Creek Inn is in one of the greatest spots in Mount Pleasant. There are any number of restaurants and bars all around Shem Creek and the Inn is right in the middle. See Amber and Savannah at the front desk. They will take very good care of you.
"Perfect place"
We loved this hotel. It is in the perfect location. Lots to see around hotel with the beautiful Shem creek right there. We enjoyed paddle board and kayak rentals. The dolphins were out every day and the manatees were a welcomed surprise. We liked that we could just walk next door to restaurant and the hotel provided a nice breakfast. The staff were all friendly and the rooms were clean (minus the pink mold growing on the shower floor, which we cloroxed ourselves). Sullivan's island is right up the road and downtown Charleston is also. Best of both worlds.
"Definitely stay here!"
We had the best service, I was beyond impressed with Amanda! Super sweet, very helpful, willing to get us anything we needed! We will be booking here from now on for sure! If you need a great place to stay choose Shem Creek!
"Shem Creek Inn"
We stayed creekfront. Comfortable, renovated rooms, loved the view. We stay at least twice a year. Great breakfast in the morning, and the employees are very friendly and helpful. To us, this is my favorite place to stay while in the Charleston area. CLose to downtown and the beach.
