We just finished a week vacation at the Grand Sirenis. We booked through BookVIP and I have to say that I'm extremely pleased with the entire trip, all the way from booking through the conclusion of the trip. We got a phenomenal deal and had an excellent trip!

"Hidden Gem"
We decided to book two nights in our favorite city while traveling home from Orlando, I was skeptical at first, given the age of the hotel. But, to my surprise the rooms were newly renovated and comfortable for a family of four. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. When we first opened our door to the room assigned us, it was a room not yet completed. As soon as we told a staff member we were put in a new room. The pool is lovely with new tile around the deck area. The breakfast selections were not huge but enough to give everyone options. What made it great was the gentlemen making waffles and conversation with our young children. Housekeeping is doing a wonderful job and keeping things personal. We came back to our room to find our daughters Stich stuffed animal tucked neatly into bed with her blanket. I've seen posts complaining about the train tracks behind the hotel, let me tell you, they are not loud, I think the train ran one or two times at night and never loudly. It's a great piece of history in my opinion. It's the railway designed and bought by Henry Flagler, it's what put St. Augustine on the map. Nice to see right outside your hotel door! The deck right on the inlet is beautiful and offers a great view of the wildlife. We watched dozens of tiny crabs running around eating dinner. All in all it's been a wonderful stay! Can't wait to come back.
"Summer Road trip"
This property was a great surprise. The staff was wonderful, the rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable. It's centrally located. The hotel has undergone renovations and while several reviews stated this as an issue; I didn't notice anything wrong or worth complaining about. We'll definitely come back.
"Even under construction. a great place at reasonable prices"
After reading the reviews online, I was a bit skeptical about reserving. All my fears were useless. The hotel was welcoming, rooms clean, terrific breakfast, very friendly staff and a rental DVD unit easily accessible. We felt immediately at home.Even under construction, the hotel was carefully tended. The outside deck was wonderful. A great recommendation for not having to fight the traffic and parking hassle was recommended: the Hopper. We look forward to seeing the finished product. It was the perfect place to stay.
"Good Value"
I really contemplated spending more for a weekend stay our first time in St. Augustine, but thought what the heck! This place was $80-$90 A NIGHT less expensive than others we were considering. We would stay here again. The room was fine - newer tile and such. We faced the back, we heard the train but not to the point where it bothered us. We rather enjoyed looking over the water on the deck and watching the train go by. Joey at the front when we checked in was great. Friendly, efficient and told us what we needed to know. We chose to walk everywhere and although we logged 15 miles before the weekend was over, we didn't mind and enjoyed seeing the sites. They were still remodeling the lobby when we were there so breakfast was cramped...we actually opted for fast food Sunday morning since it was busy! Great job and good value.
"Great place at a great value!"
It was my second time staying at Magnuson. The price is right and the staff is so friendly. Quiet and the beds are comfortable. The General Manager name was John. Really great guy!! The breakfast is good also. I'll definitely stay there again.
"Great price and amazing service from staff!"
We had a great stay at the Magnuson! Very accommodating for families and the service was magnificent. It is close to historic St. Augustine area. Great breakfast served every morning from 6:30-9:30. The staff was also pleasant with my children, bringing extra towels and even waffles in the morning! Convenience with children is key, the staff were willing to assist and make the stay as comfortable as possible.
"Quick Weekend"
Reasonable rates for room. Clean and walking distance to Ripleys and St George Streer. St. Augustine has some really over priced, old, and nasty rooms. This hotel was the first I've been to where the value equated the rate. Clean tub, toilet, bedding. Comfortable bed and pillows. We did not eat breakfast because we had early tours.
"Very clean, good location and exceptional service"
Newly renovated facility that is not too far from the old fort and historic district. It was a short walk through some nice older neighborhoods right up to the waterfront. Breakfast was hot and good and one of the owners (I think) was there making waffles for everyone and serving people. A rare level of service. The only negative was that it's located right next to a train track and the train ran a couple of times during the middle of the night. There were no horns and it wasn't an old loud one but it did make some noise. I don't think it ran on Saturday.
"2 night getaway"
Reasonable rates. Nice room but the owners and staff made all the difference. Very nice and they go the extra mile. We would stay there again! They are doing upgrades now. 2 nice decks for sunset viewing will be done soon on the west side. The hotel is right next door to a visitors center.
"great room, great experience, great service, great location, great hotel"
I travel constantly for business, I have stayed everywhere in St Augustine. This hotels location is excellent, the service is sweet, the movies are free, so is the breakfast, its next to the welcome center w a trolley that takes you everywhere in town, you also get free attraction tickets for checking in. My kids are 8 and 10 and are good little hotel critics...they love this place...the rooms are decorated soo boutique.., and the train that runs behind in the awesome view of the marsh...we love it
"warm, friendly & clean hotel"
The hotel's rooms are on the outside. We were greeted cheerfully. The lobby was very nice. The rooms had been recently redecorated. Tile floors. The walls were painted several calm colors & very creative. The curtain over the window was not fancy, but quite clean. The bathroom was really nice. No tub, but a step in tiled shower with a lovely rain head shower. towels were nice & white & fluffy. What I really liked that there was a lighted magnifying make up mirror.!!! They had a dvd player with the tv so you could play movies you brought or they offer free movies in the lobby. It is a little ways from old town, so you would have to take your car. But there is also a shuttle available for $3.99 per person per ride that will pick you up & drop you in Old Town. It is not covered. The room was really clean & the house staff always asked if you needed anything. I would stay there again. The had a nice breakfast in the morning. Quite adequate.
"Great Hotel"
The inside lobby isn't very fancy but the front staff, Gerry, was so nice and helpful. The rooms are really clean and has all your basic needs. The price is affordable for this area and you're just a few miles from the center of it all. I would stay here again.
"Great Room"
Was a bit hesitant when I booked the room based on some reviews but turned out I had nothing to worry about! Stayed the weekend of 12-16. Upon arrival asked if room they had us in was a renovated room. Turned out was not but had no problems changing to one that was. Young lady working front desk did let us know it was in the back and train goes past a couple times after dark. Train was not loud and didn't blow it's horn so that was not an issue for us. Room colors are fab. Breakfast waffles were the best. Once the renovation is complete I would give them 5 stars. Will definitely stay again and looking forward to the deck in the back being completed to sit and enjoy the river view. Thanks to everyone at Magnuson in making our stay stress free and enjoyable.
"Wonderful experience"
The city is great, and there is a lot of places to see. I stayed at this hotel for 1 night, the room was very clean which is very important to me. The hotel is also right next to a stop for the shuttle to take you to where you can get The Old Trolley Tour of the city. Also the hotel offers free breakfast, dvd rental, and wifi.
"Don't let the low reviews discourage you from checking this one out!"
We had a fantastic time. We stayed for my birthday weekend. Very impressed with the owner who was on-site each morning during breakfast. He was AWESOME!!!! They went above and beyond with making sure we were happy with our stay. They are remodeling, so I look forward to staying again to see the improvements. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends or family. We will be back.
"The Most Helpful Desk Staff Ever"
All four desk staff we dealt with went out of their way to provide personal service. When there was a problem with taxi transportation they stepped up and solved the problem. They even picked up dirty plates from the breakfast table while we were eating. Incidentally the breakfast was above average with waffles, eggs (two kinds), toasted bagels, fresh fruit and much more. The view from the rear, over the Sebastian River, is relaxing and the twice a day train provides an exciting diversion. Once they finish their renovation the rating goes to five stars.
"Excellent service"
Staff went out of their way to be helpful! Very friendly. Great value for a decent room and breakfast. There is some construction noise during the day, but we went out to enjoy the town and it wasn't a problem. It is close enough to walk to the old city or the Red Train staff will come pick you up for free. Or, bring your bicycle. That's how the locals get around. Downtown traffic is miserable.
