Moxche Ultra Luxury Playa del Carmen

I had never even thought of staying at an all-inclusive place before (because I didn't really have the desire), but as I was searching locations for my honeymoon, I decided all-inclusive was the way to go! I began searching, and saw that it could get VERY pricey, but this resort offered a great deal, and we booked well in advance (about 7 months ahead). We also wanted a place that was adults-only, and this was a perfect place. Smaller than the other ones, but still had a lot of activities to get involved in. The resort itself was amazing, and the staff was excellent. From the moment you step onto the resort from the shuttle back to the hotel, you are treated like royalty! We stayed from December 26-31, and time really does fly when you're having fun! We had a tropical view room, and it had a decent view, but obviously not as good as if we had an ocean view room. We saw plenty of the ocean, and so I can't really complain of our room! We were out of our room most of the time, and so this wasn't really a downside at all. The mini bar was restocked every night, and the 24/7 room service was very quick! We ordered some burgers at around 2:30 in the morning, and the food was up in no time! We really enjoyed the amazing choices of restaurants, and although there may not have been as many as some of the other bigger resorts, it was just perfect for us! We got to try all the restaurants except Oceana (not big seafood fans). The Seaside Grill that doubles as a steakhouse for dinner hours was AMAZING. The steak was phenomenal, and the service was wonderful. We sat inside instead of waiting for 30 minutes to get a seat outside, and it was awesome. Our food was out in about 10 minutes, and it didn't look rushed at all! I could go on and on about the restaurants, but I'd be writing all day. The bars were also really good, and offered an amazing selection of cocktails; pretty much anything you could think of, and more! The bartenders were really friendly, and during slower hours, they'd take the time to strike up a conversation and see how the other guests were doing! The beach was very well manicured, and we actually got up to watch the sunrise on our last morning, and we saw one of the workers out there at 5 am sweeping the seaweed off the beach and raking the sand. We only had time to be at the beach for one day, but we spent all day there and there was enough to do to keep us occupied. We swam in the ocean, participated in the beach olympics that the resort had going on that day (I'll say more about the event staff). Otherwise, it was a very fun day at the beach, and a little crowded (I use that term loosely). We had no trouble finding a spot, but it's not like we had the beach to ourselves. The waiters were always walking around asking if we needed something to drink. Can't say enough about the waiters and waitresses here! Bravo! They were amazing! The resort had a great entertainment show each night we were there. There was a traditional Mexican dance the one night and that had some audience participation, and that was hilarious. We watched a magician (he was very good), and an illusionist as well. The resort really did an amazing job getting top notch entertainment to the resort for the evening hours. During the day, the entertainment staff were really active in getting guests to participate in the games that were going on. We played in the "beach olympics" with a few other guests, and it was a really fun time to get to know some other people. Sometimes you just wanna relax, and I was a little apprehensive about getting involved in those games, but I'm glad I did. My wife and I really had a good time with that! The spa! I almost forgot about this. We paid about $270 for a 50-min massage and a 1-hour hydrotherapy circuit. The resort gave you $200 in coupons, and we used some of the coupons on the massage to save some money. The lady that helped us (can't remember her name!) gave us the couples room (an extra $40) for free, and that was very appreciated! To get to the spa was about a 3 minute ride in one of the golf carts, and the facility was amazing. The ambiance of the place was very relaxing, and you just left there feeling very rejuvenated! The hydrotherapy circuit was a mix of hot and cold water activities aimed at opening and closing pores. I won't give too much away about it, but it was a good time! The massage was excellent. Our massage therapists were very good, and kept us very comfortable. We were so relaxed, we took a 3-hour nap right after the massage! I don't really know if enough can be said about this resort, but it was amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (minus the long wait at customs entering the country), and will definitely return to Cancun again in the future, and Secrets will be at the top of our list for all-inclusive resorts!

Staff are WONDERFUL. They work their tails off to please you, and do an excellent job of communicating with non-English speaking tourists. The entertainment staff in particular become your friends in a few short days. The variety of entertainment, dining choices, and beach/pool activities were seemingly endless. You never lack for anything to do if you want, but can also spend hours by the pool or on the immaculate (but small) beach. Short taxi or tour to Playa, Akumal, all the adventure tours, etc. Seeing some of the other area resorts, I think Capri is smaller (an advantage in my opinion) and mildly dated compared to some others. For us, this only added to the family/friend type atmosphere, and the staff made up for it. All inclusive is the best way to go.

First of, I would like to say that we arrived on Thursday January 9th, 2014, we are still here but I couldn't wait to write this review. These people that work here are just so amazing. And I have many to mention- we were greeted by Abigail and Mara, they were simply wonderful. We were give a tropical view but that is just fine because we spend everyday on the beach. The most wonderful people are Cesar and Mauricio- they are pool and beach concierge. They hooked us up for an extremely reasonable price with a beach cabana and hydrotherapy day pass. They are awesome. Anything you need you just find Cesar or Mauricio and they will make your every wish come true , they are also a pleasure to speak to, so knowledgable and great. Next , the entertain my staff, Denisse, Victor, Alex, Alberto, Jorge and Jonathon, they provide a slew of activities every single day and never have a dull moment, everything from yoga , beach volleyball, pool volleyball, Zumba, etc, they make your stay so much fun. The bar and servers are next , In the lobby bar, you have to go to Cesar, Lucas, Juanito or German Cesar makes Mexican poison and Lucas makes the jumbo. Jumbo is so delicious!!! Beach service is provided by Oscar and Carlos and they make sure there is always a drink or food in your hand and make sure you are infinitely happy. If you need a good hostess, Mariellos is at the buffet in the morning and seaside grill in the afternoon, she is a beautiful girl and a pleasure to speak with. Isaias is the lifeguard, his English isn't too good but if you get hurt, he's the guy with the emergency kit and he's also a sweetheart. From the seaside and cactus club, David, Arturo, Daniel and Eduardo are worth mentioning and they are also just so great. The food is phenomenal everywhere, fresh seafood , delicious meat , lots of options. We have no complaints. At night the shows are great , there is a pool table and games and lots of bar. Daniel at desires bar is a great guy. The maids we had for room 403 were great, perfect clean up, made everything beautiful and turn down service is such a treat. This is one of the best if not ThE BESt hotel I have ever been at. Big thanks again to Cesar and Mauricio for such great hospitality. We love it hear!!

Great food great service great. Very relaxing always could get a lounger at the pool .The entertainment crew was excellent, always something to do if you want. Very clean.We were there for our 25 anniversary they had a bottle of cold champagne in room waiting for us and a banner on door that said Happy Anniversary was really nice. Your met at door when you arrive with a glass of champagne and water and a cool towel. Nothing bad to say would go back to same resort for another holiday.

I stayed at the Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya with family for two weeks over Christmas and New Year and had a wonderful time. From special evenings for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve to special multi-course Chef's dinners, the food was marvellous. All the a la carte restaurants were truly excellent - my favourites being the Italian, the pan-asian and the fish restaurant. Service was wonderful - professional but also friendly and relaxed throughout - with so many great individuals the whole review could have consisted of a list of their names! The reception bar staff in particular were great as they were all so friendly and kindly helped me with my attempts to improve my Spanish. The entertainments team were excellent - there was always something going on from lessons on how to make guacamole and tequila tasting, to Spanish lessons, pool volleyball and even a lesson on how to make towel animals (yes really). A special mention goes to Alex - the resident pianist - who was excellent and seemed to know every song I requested. All in all I think the Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya is a super place to stay and I would definitely go back.

Three of my nursing school classmates went to Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya to celebrate 50 years of friendship. This was the most fun vacation I have ever had. The resort was beautiful and all the staff were friendly and very helpful. We especially enjoyed the Entertainment staff. They were friendly and made us feel special. I would like to especially like the thank Victor, Alejandro, Denisse, Jonathan, and Jorge. It rained almost every day, but their personalities brightened the days. They were so much fun and very personable. The food was very good and there was great variety. I hope to return again soon.

We stayed here for 1 week and were blown away by everything. The food, alcohol (always ask for the premium stuff), service and the beach exceeded our expectations and we'll definitely be back! For future travelers, if you want a good spot on the beach - go in the morning put down some towels, go for breakfast and come back... around 10-11am.

We took an adult vacation with three other couples the first week of December 2013 and had a fantastic time. We loved the atmosphere and the resort. We found the staff VERY friendly and eager to please. The entertainment staff was so fun and oozing with personality, especially Johnathan. We would all recommend getting involved with the amazing activities around the resort. They serve amazing food and top shelf drinks. We took advantage of the beach service and our waiter, Hersen, everyday. A great way to start off our holiday season. I don't think sitting on the beach listening to Christmas music could get any better than at Secrets Capri!!

We stayed at Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya for 8 glorious days. To say we were impressed is a complete understatement. We stayed in the Jr Suite preferred room and it was absolutely amazing. The view was breathtaking. The deck we had overlooked the ocean and the pool. All of the furnishings were top notch. The food was AMAZING! We went to all of the restaurants and never had a bad meal. My husband and I usually love to go to restaurants in the area and we never left the resort. We never waited for a table anywhere. The Hibachi restaurant made my birthday so special. They made us a special dinner that was not on the menu!The steak at Seaside Grill was out of this world! And we loved the outdoor taco/ceviche lunch spot. Room Service was also amazing!! Try the chicken taquitos!! its all everyone we met talked about. Oh that and channel 21.LOL. We had the romantic dinner on the beach and were blown away with the food and the staff. We met some life long friends while we were there and just loved being in the pool. There were always enough chairs and the entertainment team really made pool time fun! I have no complaints and would advise anyone reading this to look no further. This is the resort you will come back to over and over again. Like I said we arrived and never left to explore the area once. That is totally rare for us.

We spent the last week of Nov and first week of Dec 2013 at Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya. We travel three times a year and this was our best vacation yet! Everything was absolutely fabulous. We want to thank Rolando Miranda for all he did in making this such a memorable experience. Our expectations were far exceeded. The room was cozy,comfortable,and very beautiful with an excellent view. The service is outstanding; everywhere from the restaurants to the pool. Our room was both immaculately cleaned and organized every day. I highly recommend the Chefs Nights and the Mexican Chefs Night along with the Pastry Chefs Night. The food and atmosphere was unbelievable. Everyone who served us was so professional, humble and polite. We will be going back for a third time at the end of this year. The Chefs really put their hearts into preparation; so professional! We would like to make special mention of Augustine, the Captian, Marcelo around the pool, our Victor at the breakfast buffet, Mario, Captain and all the girls and bartenders in the lobby bar. The guys in the pool bar; Aaron1 and Aaron2 and Juan keep the atmosphere up during the day. Entertainment crew was also good. For exersize we walked to the gate and back every morning. There was a gardener named Geronimo, the Mayan who greeted us every morning on our walk.Thank you to everyone for making our stay so memorable and romantic!.

Spent the week Christmas at Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya. Excellent hotel! My husband and I needed to relax and that is just what we did. Spent the week floating, eating great food, sleeping in a very comfortable bed, and drinking champagne! The hotel is beautiful and small enough that you can walk around it in minutes. Staff was great; always ready to serve in any way we needed. Christmas Eve they put out a great dinner with an amazing assortments of tiny beautiful desserts. Then Christmas day they set up all the tables around the pool. Candles, lights, saxophone player, great buffet. Only thing that could be improved is the shows/entertainment, and the music by the pool during the day. I think they should have latin music playing ALL the time! All in all we had a very peaceful, relaxing, enjoyable time at Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya! Check out their website....they have a live webcam! I took a picture of us on it-kinda cool!

No complaints about this resort and our recent stay there. We went as two families, with young adult offspring. My husband and I have always shied away from large resorts, but we never felt as if this one was crowded even though we were there at full occupancy. The resort has plenty of staff, they are all friendly, polite, and accommodating. The resort was clean and very well managed and cared for. You can do as much or as little as you want, activities were available, but not pressured. New Year's Eve was exceptional, the food and the performances. Special thanks to Jonathan, escort for the Lagoon Walk (very enjoyable), all the entertainment staff, all the restaurant staff, beach wait staff, especially Noe and Orlando. The quality and presentation of all the food at all the restaurants was outstanding, we are all "foodies!!" One of our travelling companions has Celiac disease and there were no issues for her. I want to mention that I walked the beach for some distance in both directions and Secrets has the best!! It is not huge but some of the neighbouring resorts have no beach, others have a scant amount. Just wish that the onsite Japanese restaurant served saki!

We spent for the 6th time our vacation at the Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya. We stayed there as usually for two weeks from Dec. 9th thru Dec. 23rd 2013 We had again a lovely vacation. Each time we are impressed with everythig the resort has to offer. Beautiful rooms, a very nice pool, a clean beach and delicious food in all the restaurants. But mainly we love the professionalism and friendliness of the entire staff. Sometimes we are a little bit supprised to read some negative comments about this hotel. We also love the adults only formula because this makes your vacation more relaxed. The only message we can give is: convince yourself by trying it! Very satisfied Belgian guests.

Great vacation another Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya that is right up to par! You couldn't ask for anything more. Went with a group of couples and it was a very relaxing and enjoyable time. Rooms were perfect, food was good, pools were clean and drink were plentiful! What more could you ask for?

My husband and I were 14 days at Riviera Maya and we enjoyed the varm welcome, our nice room, the food at every restaurant and most of all_ the friendly staff! The waiters always did an exelent job,among others lovely Mariellos and friendly Reyman. Reyman and the whole staff did whatever possible when I told I had food allergi. They always came up with alternatives and they treated it very professional:) This means alot to me when I am travelling!!! The entertainmentstaff is gorguos, Denisse is cute and energic together with all the happy outgoing boys:) It was a lot of facilities, and I tried the yoga and the spanish class . Excellent and fun!! If you didn't find any activities there, you must have a problem:):) We would love to come back one day. :)

Entertainment and hotel staff are amazing. Johnathan, Dennise, Jorge, VIctor and Co. were great and there was never a dull moment. Staff vs. guests darts, kayak racing, beach volley ball, beach casino, Mexican day entertainment: Mexican games, Tequila tasting, guacamole making, Mexican food, Bingo at the swim up bar, Sushi making, couples games shows, and nightly entertainment shows. You won't have to leave the resort there is something to do every minute of the day. The maid service was outstanding along with the cleaning crew for the bathrooms. Everything was extremely clean, even the beach which was raked multiple times a day. The bar staff and wait staff were great. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for an adults only resort.

Perfect vacation in perfect resort Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya. Everything is so clean, good food,good drinks, good everything, what more can i hope. Weather was warm all the time we been there.Sometimes little rain maybe, but that dont take long time.I hope someday i can go back to Mexico and just this same resort.

We spent 2 weeks in Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya and we loved it! The staff was amazing and friendly. We took part daily programms, like yoga, beach volleyball, watersports etc.. It was really nice also to do something, not only lying on the beach. The entertaiment staff was excellent and worked really hard, thank you!! At first it was a bit annoying that "American style" for shy skandinavian people, but we got used to it and at the end of our holiday, we joined that and joked also with them. Also guacamole lessons, tequilatastings were nice! The beach was the best in this area and the staff took care of it. It was cleaned every day. Only negative thing was the beachvolley court located too near that "old beach house" When the ball went to the water it was dangerous to pick it up! Hopefully this will be fixed up before someone hurts him/herself, including the staff. Food was excellent, beautiful and delicious! We enjoyed all restaurants, italien ja asien were our favorite ones. The coffeeshop was unbelievible! Coffee was really tasty and the service friendly. Breakfest buffee was lovely, everyone could find the own thing. Fresh fruits, omelett chef, oh my god! Service was quick and friendly, thank you Victor! Christmas buffee, show and decorations were memorable. It was all what we expected and in fact, much more. Now here it is dark, cold winter but memories from Mexico warm us. Once more I want to say big thank you to the excellent entertaiment staff! Keep on smiling and have fun!

We have never been to Mexico before and chose the Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya all inclusive resort. It was a great experience and the staff was energetic and wonderful. We were never bored or without something to do. Thai chi, yoga, water aerobics, Spanish lessons, coffee art, towel animal making, sushi rolling, drinks galore, sun bathing and gourmet food. I am sure I missed something but could not do everything offered. You should choose this resort. It was awesome!

My wife and I stayed at the Riviera Maya Dec 1/13 for a week and had a great time !! The hotel exceeded our expectations !! The staff were very friendly and the food and drinks were excellent !! I simply had NO complaints about this vacation. We do at least 2 ALL INCLUSIVE holidays a year and this rates at the top of the scale. I would not hesitate to return to Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya, we loved it

We stayed for 7 nights in Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya.The hotel layout is excellent.It is not a big resort only 290 rooms.Adults only! Rooms are very comfortable and the beds are really nice.The restaurants 4 are excellent food and service. The buffet was good too.The best part of the of this hotel is a service. We are going to all inclusive resorts from 1997 so we have a experience to know the difference in the resorts and this one stands out for the service !! Bravo Ultra Luxury Riviera Maya management for first class training the stuff. I would go back again.
