We have been to Cancun many times, always trying different places, but I will return again! The activities staff was awesome! Luis and the rest of the gang made sure we had a blast and got us going everyday with ocean volleyball, horseshoes, aerobics, dance classes, etc! Their energy was never ending and they are a credit to the company they work for!!The food was delicious in all the restaurants and there are many choices every day! We stayed in a preferred club corner suite and it's absolutely worth the extra money. The day beds around the pool are a must!!!
"Solid trip and hotel"
My wife and I have traveled on several occasions to cancun. We always have stayed at the higher end resorts (El Dorado Royale, Excellence, etc). This time we were trying to do a trip on a budget and our travel agent had recommended the sands. We were very impressed! But overall I would say if your trying to save alittle cash but still have a good quality fun hotel with good service and some of the luxuries of the more expensive hotels (top end drinks included, good dining options, activities), then Dreams is for you. If your there our favorite waiter was William (one of the best I have seen) so make sure you see him.
We stayed from 9th - 14th April. From the moment we stepped in the doors we were impressed. We were given cold towels and a glass of champagne at reception, then after we checked in our bags were brought to our room. The room was nice with a mini bar, which was filled with Water, sodas and beers. We were asked was our stay a special occasion and we told them it was out anniversary. The next day the staff had left a bottle of champagne a bowl of fruit and a sign on our door. Really nice touch. The hotel itself has a wide variety, with the perfect beach and 2 lovely pools. The choice of restaurants was great also, food was fantastic in all restaurants. We did have bad service and a complaint about one restaurant but when we went to the concierge they got the hotels food and beverages manager to sort this out. Everything was handled really professionally. When we were leaving our transfer to the airport never arrived. Helio (bellhop) spoke to our Rep and really went out of his way to help us. He organised a taxi for us and arranged with the Rep for someone to be at the airport to pay it for us. He really was so helpful and we were very grateful to him. I would return to this hotel again, in my opinion it was excellent.
"Wish it was longer"
Visited Cancun March 2015 and stayed Dreams Sands Cancun. Weather was perfect, resort was beyond what I expected. I read the previous reviews and was a bit concerned but there was nothing to worry about. Resort was clean, staff very friendly and food was great. I didn't like the fact the restaurants closed down for specific times of the day - that seemed to be the times we wanted to eat. Entertainment was also good and the Apple staff was very helpful. Planning on going back.
"Spring break 2015"
We so loved our stay at your resort. We were nervous due to the negative comments that people posted, but boy were they wrong. People need to realize that you will never find the perfect resort. We have been coming to this area for the last 15 years & have never stayed at the same resort twice. I am positive that we will return next year. The staff is amazing & we liked the smaller resort. The beach area was outstanding. I wish we could afford to come back this summer--next year cant come soon enough !!!
A bit late I'm afraid but here it is.
We stayed in December 2014. We were there for 2 weeks and had a lovely time. Love the free wifi all over the hotel.
Staff were truly amazing. I don't usually do this but there are staff there who really shone and were outstanding. Special mention to Eddie in the Japanese restaurant who was a great waiter, Laura, Mariana, Bris and Irana who worked in the main bar and World Cafe and always had a smile on their faces and Luis at the Front Desk who is worth his weight in gold. Extremely helpful and so polite.
We had a special occasion whilst out there and Adrian who is the Manager of the Waves & Sands Restaurant went out of his way to make this as special as possible and our waiters for that evening, Hector and Feliciano were exceptional. That you all so much for making our night so wonderful.
They have done their best with an old building and it is a work in progress. They were upgrading rooms and trying to make the best of what they had. I'm sure it will be gorgeous once it is done. The food in all of the restaurants were great. Portofino and the Bordeaux were definitely the best. Wow, the steak was just amazing. Drinks were good and there was pretty much everything you could ask for. Gorgeous Mariana spend an afternoon making us up cocktails not on the menu and she didn't once mess up! What a star.
All in all a really good, relaxing holiday.
"Girls spring get away"
Beautiful view from our balcony. Very clean resort. Drinks at the lobby bar and sushi bar were the best. Cannot say enough about how helpful they were. Kevin came around the beach multiple times a day making sure we were ok and didn't need anything. Thank you for another wonderful vacation!
"Overall great resort"
Olio: Hidden gem of a restaurant. On the beach, excellent food. Sit down breakfast.
The staff was courteous and efficient and very friendly. I commend the Olio team (Captain: Emigdio; Waiters: Rafa, Enrique, Victor, Ana, Nestor, Erick and Grape) on their excellent service.
Specialty Restaurants: The food is very good. Separate kitchens with Italian, French, Asian NOT a central kitchen with redecorated plates. Seating easily available with the longest wait we endured was 25 minutes.
Italian: The chefs special is fresh pasta dont pass up.
Volley ball in the water is a fun sport.
Bars serves branded drinks good cocktails.
Staff is uniformly courteous.
The resort is compact, so easy to get around and was never crowded towels and beach and pool seating was easily available.
"Perfect for a relaxing vacation"
This resort is perfect for couples and families. My boyfriend and I are in our mid twenties and wanted a relaxing get away, this place was perfect. Upon arrival we were greeted with a glass of champagne and a cold lemon scented towel. The staff is so friendly and willing to assist.
This was my fourth trip to Mexico and I can honestly say the food at this resort was the best "resort food" I have had, in fact it was amazing. They also have a coffee shop called Coco Cafe' where you can get coffee, espresso, deli items as well as ice cream cones and crepes! This resort also provides you with free bottled water which was great.
As for the room we could not complain one bit, every room has a spectacular ocean view, very clean, well lit, air conditioned and comfortable beds. They also provided you with shampoo, conditioner, soap, sunscreen and lotion as well as toothpaste if you choose not to bring your own. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there was a small steamer in our room. The resort also offers 24 hour room service at no additional charge which was great because we went on an excursion one day and had to leave before the breakfast buffet opened.
The beach and pools were amazing, we never had an issue finding open chairs to sit in. The beach is great because it does not face open ocean so it is very calm, the resort also provides kayaks and a sailboat free of charge.
The drinks were great as well, we would get most of ours from the bar on the beach. If I could offer any advice it would be to TIP your servers, bartenders and concierges. These people are working their butts off to make you comfortable. We brought about $150.00 USD in ones and would at least tip a dollar every time we ordered drinks and we left a couple bucks when we ate as well as on our pillows in our room for the maids. Even though it's not expected it we knew it was appreciated and to be honest when the bar was busy we were always the first ones that were helped.
I find it so odd that people can find something to complain about at this resort. We had nothing but the best time with great service and will definitely return in the future.
"Wonderful All Inclusive Resort"
We stayed from March 27-April 3. We booked separately but had 10 rooms and 22 people. Check in was slow but no issues. I asked if there were rooms available to upgrade to a balcony ocean front and was able to do so for $40 per night. Well worth it, as my room was on the7th floor with a beautiful ocean view. The resort was just beautiful. It is situated on a cove with a beautiful tropical shoreline. The water was breathtaking and shallow which allowed for in water volleyball and both a trampoline & iceberg to swim to. Lots of palm trees & huts for shade. Plenty of lounge chairs on the beach, less in the pool area but the beach and pool are steps from each other. Several outdoor bars as well as excellent beach wait staff to bring you drinks all day long with a big smile. DANIEL was a fantastic beach waiter! Games and entertainment daily on the beach/pool. The entertainment staff was friendly but were not intrusive. We played Bingo & learned the salsa among other fun things. The pools both gorgeous; one was more secluded than the other. There was a hot tub located by the main pool with 3 more private ones tucked away.
Rooms: Big, nice and clean. Our housekeeper was LAURA and she did a fantastic job daily. Balcony small but adequate. View amazing! There is a design flaw in the shower/tub area with a partial glass wall that makes it impossible not to get water on the floor when showering. A few towels laid on the floor does the trick. Room A/C was fantastic, no issues at all. Nice safe in the room. I used laundry service for 2 items and it was returned to my room in a day.
Food: The BEST all-inclusive I've experienced and this is my 5th all inclusive resort I've stayed at. The buffet for breakfast was outstanding. Made to order omelets, Bloody Mary's Mimosas, fresh fruit, extensive selections and all wonderful. None of the sit down restaurants require advanced reservations which is refreshing, and you can go to a sit down every night, which we did. We never had to wait long for a table at any of the restaurants. Staff at all of the sit down restaurants was outstanding, always wanting to please and with excellent service. We were a large group and they accommodated us at every restaurant with a smile. We enjoyed the food twice at Portofino (Italian), once at Olio (Mediterranean), once at Bordeaux (French), once at El Patio (Mexican), twice at Waves & Sands and once at Himitsu (Asian). A shout out to LYDIA at Himitsu who provided service that was beyond excellent, even going as far as to contact the manager of Olio for our next nights' dinner to ask them to set up a beach table for us. Also a big thank you to ALFREDO at Himitsu who gave an amazing Mayan Coffee fire show which was unexpected and delightful. At EVERY restaurant the staff went out of their way to welcome us and provide us with excellent service.
One of the girls we had with us had her 18th Birthday while we were there and we ordered a special cake through the Concierge. The cake was amazingly decorated and tasted fantastic for a reasonable fee. They set up a secluded area outside for us to celebrate for free and provided plates, napkins, silverware and wait staff to assist. Over and above what we expected.
Our group took advantage of the coffee bar and ice cream bar located inside the lobby area, amazing!
Free wifi through the resort with their provided code.
There was nightly entertainment outside which was nice.
We booked a trip to Xel Ha (highly recommend) through the lobby staff and made arrangements for round trip private transportation.
We also booked a free photo shoot of our group through the lobby staff which was a treat. We only had to pay for any pictures we chose to buy, very reasonable.
We used the bus service for $1 to go to the La Isla Mall. Nice selections of stores.
We truly all had the most amazing time. Beautiful resort with amazing staff. We will be back! I highly recommend this resort!
Fredi was the nicest employee we met. He was so personable. He was such a hard worker and wanted to do anything to make your stay the best it could be. He even found our party local coconuts to experience drinking the coconut water!! It was awesome! Because of Fredi, we will be back!
"Got married and had the most perfect wedding ever!!"
I just got married here on April 4, 2015. I must say, I was a bit skeptical going in because it was a brand new renovated resort, and the reviews were a bit shaky up until a few months ago. But, after finally getting there, having a quick meeting with the wedding coordinators (Rubi & Guillermo--yall were so, so wonderful!) I knew we were in good hands.
The food was amazing for an all-inclusive resort, and the staff was exceptionally kind and friendly!!!
The beach is PERFECTION! We had about 60 guests and everyone raved about it. It's not hard to find chairs on the ocean, but people do get out there early to save theirs!
The wedding ceremony was gorgeous, then we snuck off to take a few pictures while our guests had a cocktail hour with delicious hour de vours. Then, we made our way to the reception, and it was by far the best part of the whole weekend! Our MC, Alfonso, I believe, was SOOOOOO GOOD! Request him if you get married there! He announced everything, coordinated people getting their food, did our first dances, and had the crowd dancing all night long!
We just can't thank everyone enough....only thing I would say if you get married here is make sure you know exactly what you're paying for and take care of all $$ before the wedding :)
"Beyond our expectations!!!!"
My family of four just returned from Cancun. We went into this trip a bit weary considering the reviews we've been reading since the opening in September. Once we arrived, the view from the lobby sets the stage for a vacation in paradise. It was absolutely beautiful! Our only issue was that at check in we were being assigned a room with one king size bed, again we are a family of four. Due to spring break, there was absolutely nothing that could be done on our first night there. My first feeling was that the reviews were right and this was going to be a vacation from hell, but was I ever so wrong! That evening we received a call telling us that the resort assistant manager would like to meet with us in the morning. The next morning we sat down with Assistant Manager Nancy Lopez who went above and beyond to make things right for us. We didn't go looking for her, she contacted us and like all employees..... she was only happy if we were happy! She made sure our situation was rectified, offered us options and I think in the end, the resort was more than fair to us. As the days carried on, we couldn't believe how seamless the stay was. I can't say enough about the cleanliness of the resort, the breathtaking views, the outstanding service, the amazing beach and the surprisingly good food. There were days when we would walk the beach and the more I saw of other hotels and locations along the shore, the happier I was here! We were 'hands down' at the best resort there! I have to make an honorable mention to Daniel who served us down on the beach. He is the hardest working staff member there (and they all work incredibly hard). He couldn't do enough for us and what a great personality he has. We truly enjoyed him!! As far as activities..... they go on day and night. There is something for everyone. Besides the first impression mix up, I have not one single complaint! My kids were crying when we had to leave and my husband and I were feeling just as sad. Since we've been home I have been recommending this resort to everyone I know. I can't say enough about this resort!
Just got back form dreams
17 ranging form 5 to 45 everyone enjoyed the holiday.
Not 5 star and not the sort of place for couples but large groups with kids amazing.
Food plenty and in most case up to a good standard.
Best was the Japanese result and sushi
If you can book preferred club not as good as other vip sections in hotels but still Laura gives amazing service and with her experience at le blanc one of cancuns finest hotels she make everything easy for you.
Drinks also in preferred club are of a much better quality then regular bars.
Overall all had fun but toke the best of it don't expect the world for the price your are paying and be realistic you want more romantic and better service go next door to a rui resort and pay 20 per cent more.
"Introduction to Luxury"
You know my wife Phyllis usually has me on a pretty tight budget so when shopping for places to go some resorts are usually eliminated from the search because of the cost. We were celebrating thirty eight years of marriage, she gave me a little bump in budget and as it all worked out we were able to get a direct flight from Pittsburgh and 7days/6 nights just a little over budget. Well worth it. Long cold winter, Florida wasn't going to be warm enough. Deeper. Cancun,Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico.
We were blessed to visit Cancun. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and like family. When we got out of the shared transportation and walked into the lobby. WOW the view. Paradise! We were greet with a cool towel.
On this trip I learned the difference between a family resort and a couples resort.
This resort is an all inclusive with multiple dinning experiences, including room service.
Recently taken over, this resort will be renovated soon.
The staff are professional and personable. All about your service. Great people. Activities. Something always going on.
There were some amazing points and people, and some that were disappointing. My youngest loved the explorers club his is 5 yrs old, Alma, Clara and the rest of the staff are amazing.
The food was great, olio, el patio, portafino, hamachi, and the world cafe. Room service was amazing. Staff and servers were great.
Room cleaning and turn down was not consistent, had to request t.p. on numerous occasions. Air conditioning couldn't keep up.
The resort was spotless, very clean. Sitting at lobby bar having a wonderful cocktail and listening to the guy playing piano and singing you can actually smell the lemon cleanliness. The food was great and all resturants. The photos of the rooms are FOR REAL !!!! The guys at the front door always greeted us with cool lemon face clothes with smiles. Beach was nice, pools was great also. I can't wait to go back !!!!
We came as a group of 10 for spring break and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The beach was one of our favourite spots to spend the day. We never had any issues getting chairs and the server was amazing; she always made sure we had plenty of drinks and was very quick with getting them down to us.
I was very impressed with the quality of food at the a la carte restaurants. I have lots of allergies and I felt very safe eating in this resort. The chef at the Italian restaurant, Portofino, even altered a dish specifically for me so I could enjoy it.
The rooms were very comfortable and clean and the mini bar was always stocked to our liking. We did try room service a few times and it was ok. The food is much better in the restaurants, however it's still great to have it delivered to your room. Sometime it took awhile to get the food but their time estimates were always dead on.
This was our third time staying at an AMResort and I would definitely highly recommend any of their resorts. It's by far my favourite chain and always consistent with their service.
"Wiggle your toes at the sands!!!"
let me start by stating how gracious and efficient the immigration officials at cancun international airport were along with our travel provider Air Transat. Our arrival and shuttle to the resort was efficient and stress free.
Let me also set the record straight by saying cancun sands dreams resort is by all means a resort on every level.
All staff and the facilities they are responsible for catered to our needs in every way
The room. We decided to upgrade to preferred club 8th floor in order to have oceanfront with balcony and concierge service. This service on our floor entitled us to a lounge providing us with food, bar services, from 7am to 11pm. Again this service was A1.
Foods: whether you are at Olios with Captain Emigdio, Ana, the hostess, Victor, Ubaido, Rafa, and Erik, they are all warm, welcoming, efficient and offer a superb service as well as food.
Feliciano and Gill at Waves and Sands and Lydia at Himitsu were so helpful and accommodating in wine and food choices.
Imagine these 2 restaurants I mentioned literally steps away from the ocean that comes with a cool evening breeze
Let me end with an incredible beach, clean, plenty of seating, rocks minimal, and wait staff at pool and beach amazing.
Sit back and let this clean, professional, friendly, and intoxicating resort do what it does best, your vacation
will be one to remember
My husband and I stayed from March 22 to 29, 2015. This was our fifth vacation to Mexico, second time to the Cancun hotel zone, this resort has more of a hotel feel to it when you first arrive. Our room was on the first floor, only one level up, we had a balcony, we liked that we could take the stairs or elevator, and we had a nice view. We were not sure if we would like this type of resort, but each day we were there we like it more and more. The service from the staff all over the resort was the best we ever seen, all so friendly and helpful, The beach was great, the food was awesome, room service was great, and we loved the bed, the bathroom was a bit small and had to be careful with the shower not to get water on the floor, but not a big deal. Everything is so easy to get to, beach, pools, restaurants, bars, lobby, main street, all right at your finger tips. Bus service in Cancun very easy and just a dollar, can walk to shops, bars, docks, very easy and safe. There was a outside show in the evening and then someone singing in the main lobby later in the evening, we really enjoyed this, could sit and listen or you could get up and dance, lots of fun. Wish I could remember all the names of the great staff, but just way to many, here are a few, Adrian, Valerie, Ama, Irene, Victor, all just awesome. We hope that we will get to go back to this resort!!!!
We just got home and we had a great time. The beach was great and no problems with getting chairs. Our room was on the 7th floor, we had adjoining rooms with the kids and experienced no problems with showers or dated rooms as other people have posted. The food at the restaurants were better than expected except for the breakfast and lunch buffets- they do need some work. I would reccommend hitting Ollios for breakfast, a nice rounded menu and location cant be beat and doing lunch at the sushi/ceviche spot and poolside burgers for those that are not into the fish, also crepes and ice cream are available so no need to even go to the buffet. Also room service has a vast selection of options and the best service and timing Ive ever experienced, they were very organized and we never waited more than 20 mins. Also the wifi was great even at the beach- 2 devices per room at no charge
