Written Review

"Bungalow Room. Pleasantly surprised."
I'm not ashamed to say it, I really liked this place, though I'll say it's not for everyone. The Trop will give you a great deal, so this will bring in the people that normally stay off the strip, on. However, the hotel is surprisingly nice. My room was in the "Bungalows," which is a single level extension of rooms a short walk from the casino. The Bungalows wrap around the parking structure, which also have a sliding door and "porch" area. From my room I could see Excalibur. The casino and sports book were terrific, and there is always heavy action. It doesn't have the space like the major strip casinos, so the casino in the Trop is in a more condensed area, which is good or bad, however you make of it. I find it fun to have lots going on right around each other, as opposed to say Caesar's where the casino is spread out all over the ground floor. Our last day we laid by the pool. It's a nice renovated area, my only complaint was that we were unable to order any type of food at the pool, only drinks. I think you get great value at the Trop. So if you don't mind the madness, I think it's worth saving the extra bucks and giving it a try.
"Tropicana Getaway"
Nice property, wonderful pool area, casino, restaurants and room. We stayed in the Club Tower in a king deluxe plus-oversized room. The room was remodeled but the bathroom was NOT. Still it was clean and the staff was very friendly. Remember this is LAS VEGAS; a millions of people a year go through these hotels! Our room number was 493, a corner room that overlooked Hooters, MGM and the East Pool. Overall a nice stay and the best part were the Open glass elevators in the club tower. I am pretty easy going as long as there are craps to be played. I love this city!
"Tropicana Las Vegas"
Compared to the newest hotel/casinos in Las Vegas the Trop plays second fiddle for sure. But for a place built in the 50's it is in great shape. I found it to be nice and clean, and I really liked my room. The gaming area is fairly small, but it's not a huge place like the larger casinos (which have full blown shopping malls). I wasn't there to gamble so I didn't care. The pool area was very nice and vibrant, and the night time entertainment in the lounge was good. Check in and check out was quick and easy. The Trop is on a major intersection and close to other major casinos, so the location is excellent. I enjoyed my experience and would recommend it to others.
"Surprisingly Good"
This is the first time we stayed at the Tropicana and it won't be the last. Was initially a bit put off by the 'old people' vibe, but it turned out to be a pleasant stay. The positives: Good location at the foot of the strip - across from Excalibur, MGM and near bus stops. 24 Hour Starbucks on site (like all Vegas locations, it's pricey, but it's a good cup of coffee). The Casino is light and airy and that theme carries throughout the hotel. The decor is a bit dated, but it's well-maintained and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The big benefit: The pool. Great pool and it has a 5' deep section. You can actually swim in this pool. A goodly number of lounge chairs and great beachtowels - new, big and clean. This wouldn't be my first choice of hotel if I were in my 20's - it definitely draws an older crowd, but on the plus side, it's comfortable, there's room in the pool to swim, and you won't be the worst looking person in a swimsuit! Housekeeping was good. I left a note asking for extra body lotion (though it should have been obvious, I was unprepared for how dried out your skin gets in the May heat), and extra bottles appeared when I returned to my room. The staff also greets you by name when you call down to the desk for a wake-up call or with a question. It's a nice personal touch that we didn't get in the larger hotels. Finally, the hotel is a great value - it was significantly cheaper than lesser hotels when I booked on Expedia.
"Really Luxury Hotel"
I just loved this hotel. It was really luxury. My apartaments had a kitchen, livingroom, huge bathroom and a bedroom. Living room had a comfortable home cinema and bedroom had a hottub,I really liked these things. Hotel had two swiming pools and a few hottubs. City center was about 1km from my hotel. I really like this hotel and I would like to get back here next year.
"A very good choice for the old Vegas experience"
This was our first Vegas visit ever. But we know the history. The Tropicana was an obvious choose for those of us who remember old Las Vegas. From the movies. From TV. So let's start with that narrative......walking in the steps of Dean Martin, Frankie, Sammy, etc. It is all here. This is the building that was constructed in 1956. Renovated, of course. Staff, top notch. Had an issue with our television. Called the folks, help within the hour. Most importantly, he knew what to do. Problem solved. Tropicana is at the south end of the strip. Walking distance from New York, Mandalay Bay, MGM grand, Luxor, etc. Truth be told, you need to walk about two miles north to get into the grand mix that encompasses the major complexes like Bellagio, Ceasars etc. But, maybe you would prefer to stay at a place that is slightly apace from the Vegas madness. And I say the Trop is that place and we will be back. If you are driving a vehicle, there is a nice covered parking area easily assessed from Las Vegas boulevard. The vibe at the Trop is less hectic. The staff is friendly. It is at the south end of the strip so vehicle traffic is less. Congestion is less. The casino inside the hotel is very friendly and, I believe, the odds of a win are better based on my limited experience. The staff inside the casino is very attentive. Without being oppressive. Room service was fine. As expected. My overall impression.....if you want to be at a location that is not right in the middle of the craziness of mid-strip, with an old Vegas RatPack vibe, responsive staff, reasonable rates, friendly casino onsite, then I would stay here without a second thought. And our thanks to staff who made our very first Vegas stay one to remember.
"Great Holiday"
This hotel had been recommended to us and it certainly met our expectations, although never having been to Las Vegas before we were unsure of what to expect at all! We had booked a standard queen room, but on check-in we were offered a free upgrade to a 'bungalow'. This was a lovely big room with a shower (but no bath) and it was close to both the lobby / casino, and swimming pool areas. The hotel and our room was very clean and well cared for and our room was fairly quiet. We did get some noise when bins etc were emptied or rubbish was brought out. It might be worth asking for a poolside room if you want a better view as we could only see the car park. The pool area was very nice although the music was a bit loud. We didn't eat at the hotel and so can't comment on the food, but there are a number of options as a well as a Starbucks. As others have commented the wait for check-in was quite long and I guess that check-out would also be long, however it is possible to settle your account the night before and then do 'express check out'. The location of the hotel is very convenient: it is situated on a corner opposite MGM Grand, Excalibur and New York New York. This puts it pretty much at the end of the strip so a bit of a hike to some of the other casinos / hotels, but if you don't mind the walk or don't quite want to be in the thick of it - then this is a great spot.
"Very nice surprise"
I had not stayed here until last month, and was extremely happy to see how well the renovations, both inside and out, have turned out. On the South end of the strip in a great location of course, but now the rooms match the location. Definitely will stay there again. And being part of the Hilton family of hotels is nice since I can get my HHonors points.
"The New Tropicana"
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW Surprisingly, the new Tropicana is really new. The redesign is very nice and the staff is great. The pool experience was great and the staff at the pool bar was amazing. An excellent value for Hilton members. I will definitely be back.
"Nice hotel"
Spent 1 week in this hotel with wife. It was business trip + vacation. Hotel stuff is frendly. Registration was done quickly despite of long line before us. Room was well done, clean. Small problem - only 1 place for having meal was open 24 hours. No chance to change place when all other restorans were closed.
"Give the Tropicana another chance! I did, and I loved my experience!"
The last time I stayed at Tropicana (4 years ago), my experience was horrible! Old rooms, old facilities, etc. They've remodeled recently, and it is a completely different experience. If you have been avoiding Tropicana because of a prior experience, I highly recommend giving them another chance. (I did!). I absolutely love the Tropicana's location.. there are two sky bridge's that connect you with either the Excalibur, or the MGM/Monorail. I stayed in the Paradise Tower, great new remodeled rooms and an awesome view of the strip!
"Did you say Swim Up Black Jack?"
This was a wonderful hotel with a great location on the strip. All of the recent updates were beautiful. By far, my favorite part was the pool with the awesome swim up black jack table! Such a fun touch We will definitely be back!
"Not sure"
Overall the stay in Hotel was very enjoyable - I am a seasoned traveller and very particular about service and things in general and I was very impressed with everything overall. I am an ex Chef and the food in the 2 main restaurants was certainly up to my standard of cooking and eating
"Best place in vegas"
Been going to vegas for 26 years now...usually 5 to 6 trips a year sometimes more...came back to the Tropicana after they remodeled and I love it...I only stay at the Trop now....the comps and service are the best...I always have a good time there...the place is always clean and the food always good but the service can't be beat.
"Great Location!"
A nice smaller casino right on the strip in an excellent location. Rooms are a nice size . Friendly staff. Steak and Italian restaurants a bit pricey but good food. Beach cafe a better deal with good prices. Pool was really nice. Found the slots a bit looser than other casinos. A family member won a slot jackpot of almost $60,000! Would definitely stay again .
"Good value"
Doubletree did a great job of renovating one of the older hotels on the strip. The two room suite we stayed in had a great view, and was a good value. Would stay here again. Nice sports book, good location near the airport and other strip hotels.
"Great location"
Just arrived home from staying at the Tropicana. The hotel is not as big as some of the other hotels on the strip but is in a great location. It is only a short taxi ride from the airport. The cab fair was only17$. A good tip is to use the local bus for going up and down the strip. You can buy a 24 hour bus ticket for 8$ per person. The bus stop is right outside the Trop. The taxi fare's can mount up if you are going up and down the strip all the time. The gaming area was quite small compared to most of the other casinos. But you can lose your money just the same. The pool area had plenty of sun lounger's and the pool was great. Their are young ladies coming round the pool area all the time if you need food or drink's at quite reasonable prices.
"Great 21st Birthday Trip"
Tropicana was greatly placed, clean, fun, and had an awesome staff! I will be back again when I go to Vegas!! And a HUGE thank you to Lacey at the pool for being a great host and always being on top of everything we needed. Even though my salad order got lost she did everything she could do to make up for it. I absolutely loved that! Thanks Lacey for going above and beyond!
"4 night stay, great location"
We stayed at the Tropicana for 4 nights April 28-May 2nd. We arrived by Taxi after staying at the Mirage for a few nights. Very different feel between the Trop and Mirage. Both have great locations on the strip. We preferred the atmosphere at The Tropicana. The average age of the people staying were more mature and it was quieter than our stay at the Mirage. We stayed in room 1811 in The Paradise Tower which I thought was a wonderful location. You are very close to everything staying in the Paradise Tower. Music in the pool area was a nice touch and love the tropical feel. Service was good. I think you should be able to bring your own snacks and beverages. My husband was there for the wptapl tournament which is why we chose the Tropicana and I'm glad we did. It was a very nice stay and I would recommend it.
"Vegas Weekend Getaway!"
This was the third time I stayed at the renovated Tropicana and for the third time, I was not disappointed. We experienced friendly, accommodating staff in every amenity we tried (Checking-in staff, the Beach Cafe, ChillM Bar, slots!). The rooms are clean, towels are readily available when requested, & you do not feel pushed out by the cleaning staff. We also the location of the hotel - connects to both Excalibur and MGM. Easy access to continue the fun down the Strip! I would definitely come back to this location for future Vegas getaways. Thanks for the fun memories, Trop!
"So close to the beach!"
I just got back from a week at the Tropical Seas Hotel and I had a wonderful time. The rooms are a bit dated...I told my aunt that the room reminded me of a place my Granny and Grandaddy had probably stayed at...but it was super clean and it was so close to the beach that sitting on the balcony felt like sitting on the beach. I just couldn't get enough of that view. You just can't beat the location and the price, and all of the employees were as nice as they could be to me. Very friendly. I will recommend this place to people and I look forward to coming back in the future.
