From the moment we checked in we loved this place.. The apartment was lovely, looked over the pools to the Mijas Golf course and hills beyond, it was very well equipped and massive with a huge balcony. The resort itself had a lovely bar area + bar meals, a restaurant with some of the best food I have ever tasted, 3 outdoor pools, one indoor and indoor Jacuzzi in the fitness section. We had a brilliant Christmas and New Year here, with the best care taken of us. All the staff were just lovely, especially Helen! Nothing to fault at all.-

    We just finished a week vacation at the Grand Sirenis. We booked through BookVIP and I have to say that I'm extremely pleased with the entire trip, all the way from booking through the conclusion of the trip. We got a phenomenal deal and had an excellent trip!

    "Beautiful Location and Everything."
    From the moment we checked in we loved this place. We had hoped for 3 weeks here, but they could only take us for two as they were taking a break. The apartment was lovely, looked over the pools to the Mijas Golf course and hills beyond, it was very well equipped and massive with a huge balcony. The resort itself had a lovely bar area + bar meals, a restaurant with some of the best food I have ever tasted, 3 outdoor pools, one indoor and an indoor Jacuzzi in the fitness section. There were also 3 large snooker tables, but when we were told Steve Davis has a hand in the place that made sense! We had a brilliant Christmas and New Year here, with the best of care taken of us. All the staff were just lovely, especially Helen! Nothing to fault at all, but, you will need a car
    "Wonderful rooms and sweet service"
    We were moved to this resort when the one we had booked was being remodelled.They were so concerned for our happiness that they gave us two, two bedroom condos instead of the one three bedroom we had booked. They were beautiful over looking the gardens and pool. Pedro Santos was very gracious in helping me. Good location for seeing all of Costa Del Sol. Very clean and spacious. The front desk receptionists were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were tastefully decorated. The rooms were very clean. The resort is well located to see all the sites of the wider area but you definately need a car.
    "Matchroom country club"
    We just returned from a week long stay at this property. It was very nice and inexpensive. The apartment we received is built in classic Spanish style complete with sandstone floors and concrete/brick walls. It was winter and the staff brought in extra portable heaters for us. The property is very nice, and very clean. We saved a lot of money by having a fully functional kitchen, coffee pot, washing machine, and fridge. I would most definitely make this my return to place. The only thing I would recommend is a little updating on the artwork.

    We've just returned from a week at Matchroom, and really enjoyed it. The staff were wonderful & could not do enough for us .We had a 2 bedroom first floor apartment overlooking the golf course & pool area. The apartments themselves are of a very high standard. Very spacious. The kitchen is well equipped with every thing you need. The food in the Restaurant on site was excellent.
    "Pleasant stay"
    Been to this resort twice, in 2008 and then again just recently. It doesn't look much from the outside, but the apartments themselves in my opinion are of a very high order. Very spacious with comfortable beds and seating. The kitchen is well equipped, the fridge and freezer certainly big enough to hold plenty of beer and ice. The view from our balcony was first class, the outdoor pool to one side and the ridiculously expensive, yet picturesque Mijas Golf Course to the other. Don't know about previous comments regarding the exceptionally cold water in the pool, but we found it ideal. No problems at all - lovely pool. Indoor facilities include swimming pool, jacuzzi and three full size snooker tables, the clubhouse meanwhile is clean and pleasant, although I can't pass comment on the restaurant as we never went to it!
    "Very Enjoyable Stay"
    We've just returned from a week at Matchroom, and really enjoyed it. We had a 2 bedroom ground floor apartment overlooking the pool area. The unit was well equipped and clean, though the beds were not comfortable. We ate several times in the restaurant and snack bar and found the food to be of a very high standard. I would agree with other reviewers that the pool was very cold. Although we had beautiful weather all week I only got in the pool once, and got out again very quickly. It was freezing. You definitely need a car if you stay here. There is nothing within walking distance, except El Golf restaurant down the road.
    "Gold Crown Resort"
    We have been going to Matchroom for 15 years now and every year we go back we see money has been spent to keep the excellent standards of this Gold Crown Resort. The staff are great and the grounds and apartments are all kept immaculately Sitting by the pool overlooking the Mijas top golf course in the Spanish sun or golfing on the course.....its what holidays are about. Best with a car as your just outside the town, great restaurant and clubhouse on the complex, live music, Flamenco nights and Karaoke
    "Very pleasant stay. Nice staff. Clean and great pool"
    Stayed here first week in Sept -very hot weather. Staff were trembly helpful and pleasant. Room and public areas very clean. We thought the pools were great , nice temperature and always a subbed available. Restaurant was fine, big portions and tasty although not gourmet. The decor of our room was a little dated but the equipment was great. Have to say having a washing machine was fab -no dirty clothes to take home.
    "Lovely time but need a car"
    My family and I stayed here for 2 weeks and it was lovely. It is perfect for a family or a couple who may just want to sit by one of the 3 pools on offer but if you want to go out and explore i recommend you hire a car! It is in the middle of nowhere so we ended up spending lots of money on taxis. The hotel did offer a minibus service twice a week but it needed to be more regular. All of the staff are really helpful and the onsite restaurant was average and i would recommend taking the short walk down the road to El Golf which is a lovely restaurant with fair prices and live entertainment.
    "Good value..."
    Spent a week here with my family. The accommodation was fantastic as well as the service. We ate out most times. We enjoyed the indoor/outdoor swimming pools, jacuzzi & sauna. Very quiet surroundings, with local shops, restaurants, malls, superstores etc. Accommodation overlooks great golf course, with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains.

    Have just returned from a very pleasant week at this resort. We had a 2 bed apartment overlooking the golf course - the apartment was in good condition overall but could do with modernisation. Resort in a great position to explore surrounding towns and country side and approx 30 mins from Malaga airport. Staff excellent at checkin and in the "pub" - were we had two good meals. We look to return next year!
    "Great Stay"
    Just finishing our week at the Match room Resort. Although only expecting a one bedroom unit we were allocated a two bedroom on arrival which was a nice bonus. The resort is spotlessly clean and well looked after with lovely views of the golf course and surrounding hills. It's a really nice place to just come and chill out at, but having a car means you can explore the local area. The apartment has air con in the bedrooms which means you can always have a comfortable nights sleep. There's a number of UK TV channels which meant it was easy to keep up with the football and tennis during our stay. As some others have said the Timeshare salespeople are evident but didn't bother us once we said we weren't interested in the breakfast. We ate in the bar one lunchtime and the food was fine. The pools are very nice with plenty of sunbeds available all of the day. I would definitely recommend the resort if you want a nice relaxing and comfortable break in the sun.
    "Location no hurdle"
    The two bedroom apartment allotted to us via RCI exchange was lavish. We needed just one, so the other was an extra. The reception executive was almost waiting for us to arrive and as soon as we did, she handed over the keys and information leaflets. The location being close to the Golf Club, is in deed a boon to the golf lovers. A wine bottle kept for us in the room was a pleasant surprise! We won another drink in a draw of lots at the welcome meeting the next day. The resort organised a few events including a Flamenco with dinner, which was a great fun. They could also organize certain excursions, so not having a car did not matter. There is certainly much to do in and around the place. Even if you are not interested to take the value offers at their restaurant, there are many choices in the vicinity. In case you want to cook your own food, the kitchen is well equipped and there is an Aldi and a Mercadona from where you can lift your provisions. The Jacuzzi was an added bonus. The place is off the city of Fuengirola, but it is not tucked away. All our apprehensions about its secluded location proved wrong and we enjoyed every minute here.
    "Excellent. Again."
    We first visited the Matchroom resort a couple of years ago, and decided to return this year using our RCI exchange. I'm glad we did. We arrived early, and had a couple of hours to wait before our unit could be ready - which was fair enough, we arrived at 11:30am and in our unit by 1:30pm. The unit was a 2 bedroom apartment, and it was a really good size. In my last review I mentioned a few negatives, for example the golf course redevelopment and dated furnishings. I'm happy to say that the golf course is complete and looks fantastic, and the room had been upgraded with new sofas and flat screen TV. Still no air con in the main living area, but there is air con in the bedrooms. Kitchens are well equipped with hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine as well as a good selection of crockery and utensils. Unfortunately, the timeshare sales guys are still there, preying on the RCI exchange guests to "give them feedback on the resort". We were caught out last time with a free breakfast and an attempted sales pitch so we cut them short this time and made it very clear we weren't interested. To be fair, they didn't bother any of the non-RCI guests as far as I could tell. We ate in the bar a couple of times for lunch, and it was fine, although I really didn't like the burger. Service is always good.
    "Fantastic resort"
    Visited as timeshare exchange guests during UK Easter school holidays, with friends and had a great time. Apartment overlooked the pool and golf course, onsite restaurant served great quality food at reasonable prices, the Flamenco Night was great fun. Weather was exceptional which probably helped. Very clean apartment, serviced twice during the week, very comfortable for four in the two bed, two bath rooms. Can't wait to go back again.
    "Great Resort Highly Recommended"
    Fabulous stay at Matchroom, check in was friendly and very efficient. Apartment was great and well equipped overlooking the beautifully maintained gardens and smaller pool. The apartment was spotless and the beds were great, I never manage to sleep whilst away but I slept like a baby. The resort is away from the coast but this is why I chose it as it gives you peace and there is a nice mix of nationalities. Yes you need a car but I find it hard to believe people who use timeshare do not hire a car, Fuengirola, restaurants & supermarkets/shops are only 7 minute's drive away. The apartment is cleaned every two days which was above and beyond what is needed if you are a normal traveller and not OCD! There was ample towels and kitchen equipment, a flat screen TV in the lounge with ample channels and a TV in the double bedroom. Also it was nice to have air conditioning. The pool was great and not at all crowded, one evening we were still swimming at 20:30, no pool towels are not provided but who would complain about this we ought some in town for 5 each a bargain that we left behind as we did not want to take them home. I would recommend this resort to anybody who enjoys a peaceful location and high standards and is not hung up about having to hire a car. Our stay was perfect as were the staff, nice international fellow guests who are courteous and a good chance to practice your languages. The resort is free the loud loutish behaviour you get in some resorts on the Costa del Sol, I will be back!
    "Relaxing break"
    Stayed in a superb apartment with lovely view over the newly refurbished golf course and pool. Looked like it had recently had a new kitchen. The resort was very welcoming and the staff helpful. They provided details of local markets and can provide tips on places to visit. No organised activities which was fine as we wanted a quiet week sat round the pool reading. Really need a car to get to shops or to get around as the resort is quite isolated. About 5 mins to supermarkets in car. Quiet bar and underused restaurant. Never crowded around the pool.

    fantastic apartment looking over the mountains and los lagos golf club. We really enjoyed our stay! .It has beautiful gardens and pools . The indoor heated pool sauna and jacuzzi were very relaxing. The food at the club house restaurant was very good and the waiters were incredibly friendly. The children really enjoyed the flamenco show.

    We enjoyed our week at Matchroom Country Club, we were there the last of September. The grounds were lovely, the rooms were comfortable albeit a bit dated. The bar and dining room were nice, we ate dinner and breakfast there a couple of times and we thought the food was good and reasonably priced. The front desk people were friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a positive experience. We did not have a car and so we had to get a cab nearly everyday, twice a day and that was an added expense. BTW, we were invited to attend the timeshare sales presentation but we did not attend and it was not a problem.
    "Matchroom Country Club fixed week owner"
    My husband and I have owned a 2 bed apt. here for over 20 years and we love it! Our apt which overlookes the golf course (apart from this year as they are making it into a championship course) was spacious and generously proportioned, with flat screen tv, dishwasher, washing machine, air conditioning, in fact everything you could wish for. The standard is very high, also the cleaning staff do an excellent job, we had the apt. cleaned 3 times in the week. We own 2 weeks here and love to come for the relaxation and the friendliness. Helen on reception is particularly helpful and will attend to your every need, who has worked there for over 20 years, so she knows all you need to know.We loved the jeep safari organised bt Paul who has worked also for over 20 years and he will show you " The Real Spain" 60 euros and that included a very nice lunch. We also went to "Jinete" restaurant near la cala golf course, rhis was the best night of the holiday as the food is fantastic and if you go on a Thursday or Sunday it is music night, on Thursdays it is a sax player who is excellent, all this for 22 euros, fantastic and owned by a Scottish couple, so that can't be bad. Timeshare salesmen did not bother us as they know to leave us alone. A car is necessary as it is 13 euros by taxi into Fuengirola, which would make it very exoensive if you had to rely on them. There is a free mini bus goes to Fuengirola on Fridays & Mondays.We will be returning next year to our own apt. so we know exactly where we are goung and what we are getting which is a perfect holiday
