"Beyond perfect!"
We were in Turks and Caicos for our honeymoon last month.. The One on Marlin is one of the most relaxing resorts we have stayed at. This was our first time on Provo and we will definitely be back. Chris and Kim do everything they can to make your stay as special as possible. Chris and Kim made our reservations for dinner, and activities - their recommendations were amazing. The resort itself is a little secluded from everything else but that's why it's perfect. Renting a car is definitely a must. It was so fun to be able to explore and do things on our own terms. The beach is a 5 min drive MAX. This place is just perfect and We cannot wait to go back to the One on Marlin. They made our trip so perfect. Thank you Chris and Kim for making our honeymoon so memorable!!
"What are you waiting for? Go ahead and book this place!"
he purpose of this review is to express my appreciation for the quality of service offered the days of our stay at One on Marlin. Due to our amazing experience, I definitely wanted to take the time to acknowledge my appreciation of the complex and the resort staff.
There are only two words that can describe One on Marlin, "PRETTY AWESOME!" I made the decision to travel to Turks and Caicos to celebrate my birthday. My boyfriend selected One on Marlin for us to stay and he made the best decision! While on the outside, the campus looks like a small apartment complex, the inside is your home away from home. The units are chic, charming and inviting. There is plenty of space to relax, store your items and who doesn't enjoy stainless steel items!
The most memorable part about my stay at One on Marlin were the secret birthday surprises that occurred without my knowledge. Thanks to Kim, Chris and the hotel staff I had a birthday I will never forget!
Thanks to Kim, she helped my boyfriend to plan a beautiful breakfast on the beach the morning of my birthday and other surprises! When we arrived back to our unit I was thrilled by colorful balloons leading to our place. What a surprise! I walked into our unit and there was a cake with my name and Happy Birthday written on it. The room was made up extra special and you could tell that a lot time and effort was put into making my day great! On the desk, I found a card personally written by Kim herself! I Love Cards! One would think,"Well it can't get any better than this!" But boy was I wrong!
Later, we received a knock on the door and to my surprise, here comes Chris with a beautiful arrangement of flowers FOR ME!
"WOW!" I said to myself, this place is amazing! How many places do you know would be so accommodating, so open and friendly, so detailed oriented and so warm and kind to you? You aren't going to get that type of service everywhere, but you DEFINITELY will at One on Marlin! Hands down! Can you believe that after all of surprises I mentioned there was STILL MORE! After the balloons, cake, card and beautifully arranged room, I ended my day with a massage and dinner reservation near the water.
After reading this post you are OUT OF YOUR MIND IF YOU DON'T BOOK YOUR STAY RIGHT NOW!
I wish I had written about this place sooner because it is truly worth it! You may need to rent a car to get to fro, but the adventure leading to the complex and heading out is worth it!
A girl only celebrates her birthday once a year and I'm grateful to have this memory for a lifetime. I wish One on Marlin nothing but continued success and to Kim and Chris thank you so very much for everything!
"Was everything as advertised - would highly recommend"
The hosts were most helpful: Kim and Chris. The units are ultra modern, everything works very well: quiet, powerful air conditioning, 3 individually controlled ceiling fans, TV with premium movie channels, walk in shower, tons of storage, great well stocked kitchen.
This is a quiet place away from the well traveled areas but only a 3 minute drive to shopping and a 5 minute drive to several beaches. My overall review falls short of excellent only because the bed had some issues: The slats in the box spring would come loose and fall to the floor plus the mattress pad would not stay properly wrapped around the mattress - otherwise the mattress was of high quality and the bed very comfortable. We were greeted with a welcome drink. Continental breakfast is included. Beach chairs and a cooler are provided. The rooms have an excellent assortment of beverages and snacks for purchase and the prices are very competitive with the local stores. It was the first time to T&C for my wife and I. We stayed at the One on Marlin for 13 nights. Ensure you rent a car (Avis), spend time at a different beach everyday, buy your beer and pre-mixed rum punch at the water store on Industrial ave, buy groceries at Graceway IGA, eat/drink out at the SharkBites by the water (one of the few places with cheap beer on tap, great menu and large portions). Da Conch Shack is also very reasonable with large portions of food.
"Great value"
One on Marlin is a wonderful value on an island where the beach resorts command very pricey nightly rates. We enjoyed the stand alone units as there is a sense of luxury and privacy when you don't have to walk down a hallway to get to your room.
Upon arrival it was unclear where to check in. There was no reception or office sign and each of the units look identical so we wandered around for 10 minutes prior to seeing someone. I was told signage was ordered.
As the reviews mention, Kim is warm and pleasant when welcoming or speaking to guests. Housekeeping is excellent as well. We know the island well and the location is great, though a drive from the nearest beach.
"Excellent Stay at One On Marlin!!!"
By boyfriend and I escaped the cold New York winter this month for a one week stay at One On Marlin. This was our first trip to Turks and Caicos and we absolutely fell in love with the island!! One On Marlin was the perfect place for us. We loved how new and modern the unit was, with all the comforts of a home away from home!! Kim and Chris were so friendly and always willing to help out when needed. The housekeeper was also excellent; she kept the unit tidy and spotless every day and it was so nice to come back from a long day at the beach to a fresh and clean smelling "home"!! We rented a car (driving on the left was a bit nerve-wracking at first but my boyfriend eventually got the hang of it...lol) and we explored almost the entire island. We visited nearly every beach and we were amazed at how you could find good sized waves at Grace Bay Beach and drive 15 mins. and find Long Bay beach with its totally calm water where you could walk out probably a quarter mile and only be in waist deep water!! Amazing... The food on the island was absolutely fabulous, though a bit pricey, so be prepared to spend. We had a fancy night out at Coco Bistro, which required a reservation two weeks in advance of our trip (I did that by e-mail), and some other spots we visited were Bugaloos, Kalookis, Fresh Catch, Mr. Grouper, Somewhere and Mango Reef. All were excellent. At all of those except for Mr. Grouper you were actually eating at the beach, overlooking that beautiful, crystal clear water. Again, we absolutely loved our stay at One On Marlin in Turks and Caicos, and we will definitely try to return again in the future!!
"Our home away from home"
We just returned from celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary at One on Marlin !! We had an amazing relaxing escape from our horrible Boston winter thanks to Kim and Chris. They were always available to answer questions and help us secure a car rental at the last minute during a very busy week. The complimentary use of the cell phone provided with their phone numbers for help anytime we needed it was very nice. The resort is very peaceful and the daily house keeping was so nice. They give you a daily continental breakfast, towels for the beach, chairs and a cooler. Body wash, shampoo, conditioner and lotion are provided and of great quality. A room bar and snack set up is provided with everything you need pay as you use. I can't say enough good things about this resort. Can hardly wait to see the pool and spa once completed. Don't hesitate to rent a car and learn to drive on the left to explore this beautiful island and all the amazing different beaches and restaurants. We never drove on the left before and learned here it was very easy ;)
"Loved this Place!"
I cant say enough good things about One on Marlin. Everyone on the island is friendly but the staff at One on Marlin (Kim & Chris) was extremely friendly and helpful. They both helped me plan the best birthday surprise for my girlfriend. They reserved a romantic breakfast on the beach for us and while we were out the cleaning staff decorated our room and delivered a cake and flowers. It was a very nice surprise and I am thankful for all that helped me because I would not have been able to pull it off without everyones help. We enjoyed our time at One on Marlin and I would recommend everyone to stay here.
"Best Bang for Your Buck"
My wife and I stayed at the One on Marlin during our honeymoon. I am not a fan of staying at all inclusive resorts where everything is fed to you on a silver platter. I prefer to go out there and explore. This is why we picked the One on Marlin. We bought the deal over Living Social and it came out to approximately $1200 for an entire week (the deal also came with a free car and cell phone). This resort is a few minutes from the beach and from the grocery store. From the time that we booked it, Kim was extremely helpful and friendly. She made sure everything was in place for when we arrived. We didn't have to worry about anything. My wife and I thought it'd be too good to be true and was a little skeptical the entire time. The entire stay exceeded our expectations. We had a ride waiting to pick us up at the airport. The villa was clean, both outside and inside, and was maintained. Breakfast was light - fruits, muffins, juice, etc. There was another gentleman from Canada (can't remember his name) that was also really friendly and took good care of us. Any excursion that we wanted to do was taken care of by Kim and we didn't have to worry about anything except payments. If I were to go back, I would definitely stay here again.
"Just another day in Paradise!"
Our week on the island was a great experience - first time we've visited Turks. One on Marlin was the perfect choice. It is centrally located on the island with easy access to everything we wanted to see and do. We rented a car which enhanced our explorations. Aside from location, One on Marlin is immaculately clean with staff that goes above and beyond. Kim welcomed us on our first day, giving us tips on all the best things to see and do on the island and then checking back regulary to be sure we had everything we needed. Chris answered all our questions with the same expertise. The villa was fabulous, but it is the people we will go back to see again and again. We love One on Marlin. Thanks for a fantastic holiday!
"Exactly As Expected - Brilliant"
Read all One on Marlin reviews with confidence - just returned from 11 night stay celebrating joint 65 birthdays of both my wife and I. Where One on Marlin differs from staying in large commercial 'resorts' is down to the personal attention given by the 'staff' - it may seem trite but they are more like genuine friends as opposed to the staff you encounter in hotels etc, elsewhere. Their main focus is to ensure you have everything you need to make the most out of your stay. Bottle of celebratory wine was a nice touch. I would not hesitate to recommend One on Marlin to family and friends. If you enjoy snorkelling get yoursef to Smith's reef a short swim from the shore - one day swam with turtles and four huge (10-15ft wing tip to wing tip) eagle rays - superb. Suggest you also try coastal drive to Northwest Point via Blu Hills - worth the effort. Deserted beaches, amazing coral and wide assortment of colourful fish just off shore, right at the tip currently there is Osprey nesting on platform atop high metal pole. If you like sunsets try Sapodilla Bay ie. ocean side of Chalk Sound Drive, park car on side of road little futher up on the left from entry leading to restaurant Las Brisas (excellent food, views and good value) and follow sandy track to beach - perfect for children. If you care for a swim there is an upturned wreck around the point with gazebo. Long Bay Beach is littered with conch shells - may not be quite as good as the ones in the shop but they are free and at least you have picked it yourself. It is worth re-itterating this island is expensive to eat out - one night spent 170 dollars on meal for two, without wine, in Salt Mills restaurant. Which brings me back to One on Marlin - if you prefer to eat in, your condo has a combined use cooker/microwave - just working out how to use it is another matter - sure either Chris or Kim will show you if required. If you do, check out price of steaks in supermarket - seem reasonable compared to majority of items. If I have one crticism of One on Marlin is that there is no communal area where you can sit on a night time to enjoy quiet drink and chinwag with fellow holidaymakers - but there again some may say that's a blessing - just a personal thing. Huge thank you to Chis and Kim you are both doing a cracking job - and, if you ever looking for a replacement please give me a call.
"Great week in Provo"
Me and my girlfriend stayed at one on marlin and had a great time. We have been to provo before and this was are favorite visit so far. This resort is perfect for those looking to explore the island and come back to a quite, private atmosphere. As others have stated - rent a vehicle (scooters are the way to go) . Kim and Chris are great they will help you with anything you need. Great place to stay in Provo. Can't say enough about the place especially the staff.
"A secluded, worry-free resort to relax"
My wife and I took a mini honeymoon to T&C after our wedding and we're glad we did! Let me first say that October is off-season in Provo. So there weren't a lot of excursions and group activities available, somewhat limiting the amount of things to do unless you want to spend a lot for private charters. However, the staff at One on Marlin did EVERYTHING in their power to make this an enjoyable stay! Chris and Omar, in particular, were friendly, helpful, and extremely accommodating! Chris was there every morning with a delicious breakfast at a time of our choosing (Kim pinch hit one day too). The staff's restaurant recommendations and directions (we didn't have GPS - old school!) were fantastic. There was a little snag with our rental car and they helped smooth that out as well. The room itself had just about everything you could need. It was very modern - complete kitchen and the mini-bar was very reasonably priced. Like others have noted, beach chairs and towels are included! It's not a beachfront resort, but it's only about a 5 minute drive to the nearest beach on tranquil Grace Bay. Nights were extremely relaxing with soothing music playing throughout the resort. Our place had an outside patio where you could sit and kick back with a drink. There were a couple of annoying roosters on the property, but I politely asked them to move along and they did. Overall, we loved our stay at One on Marlin and would definitely go again!
"Loved "One on Marlin""
We spent two weeks at One on Marlin and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a place to stay in which to explore the island. The condo is small but well thought out and has everything you need to be comfortable. The only two things I would change is the queen bed; a king size bed would have been preferred and I found that the internet would be very slow at times. The last two reviews are my thoughts exactly so I won't repeat the same information and will keep it short. The quality for me that sets One on Marlin apart from anywhere else we have stayed isn't really the condo itself but the service. It starts before one even arrives at the resort by emails answered promptly and the friendliness offered by Kim or Gabriella. In fact, every staff member we encountered was friendly. We were brought a barbecue as requested and therefore enjoyed a few meals on our patio. I absolutely loved the spa music piped in throughout the grounds. We were probably out at our favorite beach (Taylor Bay) when they brought the bbq. When we arrived back to our condo, we were surprised to find a bird inside. We tried to get it out ourselves but were unsuccessful and decided to call Chris who was available to us 24/7 by phone. Chris and Jake were able to get it out of the condo and we were given a bottle of our favorite wine for our troubles. Most tourists as we, shopped for groceries at the Graceway IGA or the Graceway Gourmet IGA but we found the cheapest to be Quality supermarket as recommended to us by Dalene. (housekeeping). This place rocks out on a Saturday night with a DJ outside it's doors. FYI: No liquor sales on Sunday in Turks and Caicos at any supermarket. Our favorite restaurant was Bugaloo's, with our feet in the sand. The lobster there was amazing! Another favorite restaurant was Turks Kabob's which was super cheap compared to others and very good! I would definitely recommend One on Marlin for a couple who seek solitude at the end of the day and a comfortable place away from the big resorts. This is not the place for someone looking to lay on the beach all day with drinks brought to your cabana. This is for the traveller wanting a little more out of their vacation. Thank you to Chris, Kim, Gabriella, Jake and Dalene! We had a wonderful time at One on Marlin and shall return.
"All you need for a fantastic stay!"
We just spent three days at the resort, and it was amazing. We were a little worried that not being right on the beach was going to be inconvenient, but it actually allowed us to explore different spots in the island that were a little more off the beaten path. Everything is less than 10 minutes away by car from the resort, so location is actually great! Also, the units are totally new, well designed, and perfectly equipped with everything you need (full kitchen, a cell phone for local use, beach chairs, a cooler to take to the beach...). Also, Chris was super nice, helpful and accommodating with all our requests. We would DEFINITELY recommend staying at One on Marlin, and will surely be back!!
"A little gem on paradise island"
After spending some time at 1 on Marlin, we are ready to sell everything and move to TCI. Our trip started by booking a package on JetBlue. Before we left, we received a phone call from Kim asking if there was anything she could do upon our arrival! This was very unprecedented and very much appreciated. As we had already arranged a car rental, she emailed us directions to the resort. We rented with Avis. They picked us up at the airport and drove us the few hundred yards to the rental location. Rented a Suzuki, standard shift, right-hand drive and after a week of driving, put in $16 of gas...the car was a real miser! Take the option of fueling up yourself at any of the many gas stations on the way to the airport (Shell, Rubis....)
When we arrived at the resort, both Kim and Chris were waiting for us with fresh, cool, moist towels and a drink! It was 28C outside and sunny! Chris accompanied us to our unit and explained how everything works, including the cellphone they provide to every guest staying at the resort. This proved to be invaluable, especially when we traveled to Grand Turk and our flight was delayed.
Every morning there was a continental breakfast either served at the resort's reception or delivered to your unit at a time of your choosing. Breakfast (starting at 8 am) consisted of fruit, yogurt,fresh-baked pastries, juice, and coffee. A wonderful way to start the day. Chris or Kim was on-hand to answer any questions and to make recommendations for the day.
The unit was perfect for two people. The furnishings and decor are very modern and not at all typical resort-like. A lot of thought went into the design of the resort. There is piped-in ambient music playing all around the landscaped grounds. We left our window open at night in order to fall asleep to the gentle sounds. The landscaping and siting of the units is wonderful and I suggest a walk around to appreciate the care taken. If you look closely, you'll find the pomegranate trees.
Lighting inside the units is a little dim and there could be some lighting over the dining table - not that we ever ate in the unit. The bed is super-comf as are the pillows. The resort supplies fresh towels and housekeeping every day. The beach towels are lush and big. There is also a supplied cooler which proved indispensable for taking lunches to the beaches. The IGA food store is a 5 minute drive away. A suggestion: as there is little shade on most of the beaches, the resort can supply you with a beach umbrella so I'd suggest you ask for one. The drinks and snacks supplied in the unit are, in fact, about the same price as at the IGA so go ahead and purchase them from the resort if you can't make it to the store. Prices in the IGA were not that much different from we pay at our local IGA, although food in Canada is generally more expensive than in the US.
"What more could you ask for!"
My wife and I spent 10 days at the resort and it was wonderful. Kim provided better service than any of the exclusive resorts we have stayed at, she called to arrange all of our dinners prior to arrival to make sure we got into the best restaurants on the island. She also greeted us upon arrival and made sure we had a wonderful time. Chris was also very attentive and friendly. If you want an experience where you feel like you are an appreciated guest this is a place to stay. The level of service we were provided at One On Marlin was better than many the upscale resorts. It is in the middle of the island but it is a short drive away from the beach and it is nice and quiet. No worries about parking or loud neighbors at this resort it is truly relaxing. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of great snacks and drinks at reasonable prices and the room has a nice eating area. The room was always the perfect temperature. The resort is not complete, but after speaking with the innovative developer Kelly (who is also an amazing guy) it is only going to get better and we plan on making many return visits in the future!
"simply an amazing hideaway!!"
Surrounded by lush greenery and turquoise water these serene villas are a peaceful respite from the urban world. The key however is the service. Managed daily by Kim and Chris, no request goes unattended. These two individuals go above and beyond.
"First New Year's Vacation"
One on Marlin was a big surprise. Upon arrival, Kim Gordon, the conciege greeted us by first name. The property was situated off the main road but close enough to the beaches. The room was arranged elegantly with a private entrance and a patio. The staff was exceptional. Kim Gordon spoke with us prior to our arrival and all while we were there. She arranged all of our dinner reservations and daily activities with the best companies on the island. Due to the care and attention paid to us by the staff and our experience on the island this was the best New Year vacation. We look forward to returning the same time next year.
"A secluded romantic experience"
When we first arrived we were greeted by the lovely kim. She was so beyond sweet and profesdional. The lighting is very dim but romantic. Kim set us up with all we needed, even renting a scooter (not many drive scooters due to pot holes so be careful). We had a fantastic stay. Chris also works there and is super nice too! Great location near the store and beach but not on the beach, secluded and quiet. We loved provo and this resort!
"First Wedding Anniversary"
Great first trip to a beautiful resort close to the beach. The most accommodating staff and continental breakfast every morning. The suite was perfect with private access and romantic setting for the perfect getaway trip. Definitely a trip to repeat and highly recommend a stay with One on Marlin Spa Resort.
"Engagement Trip"
I can't say enough good things about our stay at One on Marlin. We booked the trip to stay over Memorial Day weekend and through the week. I was planning on proposing to my then-girlfriend upon arrival to the resort so I obviously needed a great deal of assistance. Kim and the staff were unbelievable and I can't say enough good things about them. They had everything set up to when we were picked up at the airport by their car and were close to the resort, our driver called Kim to alert her we were there. Kim greeted us with a glass of champagne and escorted us to our room where the staff was also there taking pictures and videos to capture the moment live. The bed was made up with flower petals with my fiance's name asking is she would marry me. Not only was this impeccable, but throughout our stay they we 5 star service helping us plan out our trip (i.e. restaurants, trips, etc). If you're staying in Provo, I highly recommend the great people and resort of One on Marlin - go see Kim!!
"One on Marlin"
Kimberly was awesome, very knowledgeable and friendly. Great with recommendations!! The Resort itself was very nice and clean. It is located in the middle of the island so if you want and ocean view this is not the place. We are the pack and go type so this was not a big deal. The Spa portion of the resort is under construction so don't plan on that anytime soon. Our "room" was actually a small condo with full kitchen, bath and queen bed and sitting area.
"Satisfied this solo traveler's every need"
Beautiful, secluded resort with all the amenities necessary to enjoy the island (Even beach chairs!). Beaches are a 3-5 minute drive, as well as the supermarket. Very attentive, friendly and attentive staff, only a call away from the supplied cell phone). The unit is well-appointed, with modern appliances and plumbing fixtures, and was well laid out. I normally try to visit different destinations on each vacation, but I had such a wonderful time in Provo that I'll most likely bend this rule and return, and definitely return to One on Marlin.
"Paradise away from home."
Kim was wonderful and the resort was a perfect get-a-way to come back to at the end of the day, relax on the intimate balcony with a glass of wine, listen to the spa music and reflect on the day. The bachelor style suite has everything you need. The island is small, and the resort off the beach, so I would reco a car ($40 a day) as Cab fair will easily set you back what a car will cost if you want to fully appreciate all that T&C has to offer regardless where you stay. This is a real relaxing, intimate setting that is minutes from the action and we loved it.
"Quiet Location....Nice Room....Great Staff!"
The facility is quite new and the rooms were very nice. Kim took wonderful care of us and supplied a cell phone for the duration of our stay. It was pre-programmed with her number and the number for transportation. She was always willing to offer recommendations on activities and on restaurant choices. The room had a fabulous shower and a full size fridge and convection cook top (2 burner). Alcohol was supplied by the full size bottle at the same price as the grocery store. A/C worked well and was quiet. Parking was free and you definitely need a rental vehicle while in Turks & Caicos as there is nothing within walking distance of the resort. The only downside is that the pool and spa facilities are not yet built and would be a great addition to the property.
"Great Place to Stay Off of the Beaten Path"
One on Marlin offered a nice quiet retreat after a day at the beach (especially our last day in TCI). Kim was great! Kim kept in contact via e-mail from the time we made our reservation until we arrived. Kim arranged a shuttle van from the airport to the resort and met us personally when we arrived at the resort. She also brought us a continental breakfast each morning (complete with freshly brewed coffee and orange juice), arranged our excursion to Little Water Cay (Iguana Island), and offered advice and tips on dining and other activities.
Unfortunately, on our last day on the island, our beach bag was stolen (despite my best efforts to hide it under a beach chair) while we snorkeled at Bight's Reef. Fortunately, I had read enough reviews to know that since we were using public access to the beach it would not be wise to travel with cash or credit cards (so much for the rum punch by the seashore). Basically what was stolen were my cellphone (also known as my camera), the resort phone, the car key, the room key, and my husband's driver's license. Gabrielle at the resort came to the rescue with a new room key and a replacement local cell phone.
While I wish the trip would have ended on a better note, I did appreciate the hospitality and kindness offered by both Kim and Gabrielle.
"Glad I didnt listen to all the negative reviews!"
I admit I was nervous after reading everything. And while the resort is not perfect, it was great for what we wanted. Food was expectional in all the restaurants, with no real wait. Crepes and ice cream in the lobby was awesome! Staff was attentive and helpful. Nightly shows were really good. We did have to move because we wanted 2 beds and it was not available the first night. Our air conditioning in the first room was not that great (428) but in the second one (520) it was definately better. The shower does have issues, but we worked around it. It was my daughters birthday and they gave us 2 sarongs, a piece of cake in our room with a bottle of champagne. She loved it! We did sit through the presentation, which was longer than we were told. Didnt sign up for anything, but we did get $250 dollars for a dinner on the beach and $100 spa credit. It was worth it to sit on the beach our last night and have dinner! There was no real hard sell, we were very upfront and honest that we would not be buying anything at that time. I am sure they were disappointed but moved on. The beach was beautiful and you could walk out pretty far and only be waist deep. No being knocked over by waves! Pool in the back was nice, had some shade (which I need). You could have as many towels as you needed, rent a cababna for $25 a day (we did for one day). We walked to the shopping area in about 10-15 minutes which was great. Sometimes overwhelming, but you expect that. 24 hour room service is wonderful to have. Longest wait for food was about 1/2 hour. WiFi all throughout the hotel is a nice feature too. Sure the elevator could be faster and cooler, the shower could be better set up but for the price, the food, drinks and service you can put up with it. If your looking for a 5 star place, this isnt it, but if your looking for great service, good food and a great location then dont hesitate. Just keep on top of the concerige for your coupons and the front desk for the room you want. It was worth it.
